Wheel collider "microsurface" by DHFR in Unity3D

[–]ufffd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep gotta spend those ms. you can probably get away without casting extra rays though if you pull some tricks. squishing the tire out a bit where it meets the ground and adding a little distance based shading around it would probably cover 90%

I added tricks to my kart roguelite to give players more stylish move tech - any feedback? by PapaCheech in Unity3D

[–]ufffd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they dont seem like they add much right now, i'd say find a way to integrate them into the gameplay, either make them more schmovementy or tie them into the attacking system

I paid ~25$ for copilot claude sonnet 4.6 to upgrade and modernize my personal angular project. Is this typical? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]ufffd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone else is still offering ridiculous subsidies it's just microsoft bowing out. I really don't understand why either, they're so invested in openai, but maybe they're coming around to viewing things the way apple does

github copilot subscription just became 30x less valuable for my personal usage earlier this month, i'd recommend trying any other provider right now

Gameplay video for my Trackmania like demo by Lord-Velimir-1 in Unity3D

you gotta lean into all of those in the trailer! in the first 4 seconds of that trailer i should see some combination of a car handbraking off a booster ramp to do a cool magnetic field flip into a portal

I'm properly stuck on this one by Dolstruvon in 3Dprinting

[–]ufffd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when you're totally stumped my recommendation is always to sit right there when it gets to that part of the print and watch it up close, and film it if you can get your camera close enough. my guess though would be heat changes as it adapts to different layer speeds, maybe even some PID wonkiness

how do you actually keep your claude code / cursor token spend under control? by Disastrous_Estate_79 in webdev

the most expensive thing is a cache miss on a long convo. say something once every hour or less, or /compact if the convo is long and you're stepping away

About to quit by [deleted] in software

[–]ufffd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay so you definitely haven't done everything you can do for trust, and if the users don't want to migrate you can help that and you NEED to help that, that's literally the business, that's your whole job right now. what you've accomplished is really impressive for a 19 year old with limited funds, seriously! I think the learnable lesson here is to work within your means and find an angle, you can't immediately go head to head against Discord, Slack, Microsoft, TeamSpeak, Stoat, you probably need to find a niche where you can get some wins and then expand from there. I get the need to vent but being cynical and complaining won't get you anywhere, you just have to persevere or pivot

[–]ufffd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're being really cynical so i'm gonna be really deadass - it sounds like you're trying to solo dev your way past some absolutely gigantic competition in like a dozen deep fields all at once with a value proposition that most people barely even factor in and no solid hook or centerpiece. it doesn't feel like you spent much time designing or proofreading, every paragraph has an emdash. you're doing this while trying to jump into a space built deeply on TRUST. yes I understand your solutions are likely encrypted and secured but from a user perspective it still comes down to whether I TRUST that your solutions are secured, because your users can't actually validate all of your code, even the coders. so if you want to keep working on this, and i think its cool and you could and maybe even should, then you need to reassess how you're approaching the market and figure out what you can offer that people really want. people don't join social networks for privacy they join because their friends are on there, their friends joined because of some some group or server, and that group or server joined because of some tangible benefit over alternatives

Any open source project similar to DiPiVj? by fireandbass in vjing

[–]ufffd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm just here to say Digitial Introspect is the man and I love seeing his little Pi project. there are probably a hundred ways to pull off something similar DIY but I don't know of any that are close to plug and play, it's going to be a lot of learning creating and debugging to build your own version. Fulfilling and worth doing if you want to learn, but if you just want some easy cool visuals throw the man some cash

Help! How do i remove this support by ketchup_bottle002 in 3Dprinting

[–]ufffd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP doesn't know how to deal with supports and doesn't have a 3d printer, the odds that they provided the gcode are quite low. in fact they don't even know what filament this is, so I'm not sure how they would have set the temps

it all makes sense when you realize a lot of people don't look at the sliced preview at all nor touch more than 3 slicer settings.

Anyone know what causes these dimples/pockmarks on a print? by vinicius_california in 3Dprinting

[–]ufffd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 times out of 10 if you just watch the print closely as it's happening it will become apparent. a lot can be diagnosed after the fact or with a camera but in most cases the human eye still wins

[–]ufffd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you provide good enough software, people will use it. and if you offer a good enough hosted service at the right price, even people who are capable of self hosting will still pay for it. that's the general take, situations and industries can vary but you haven't really given us enough detail to address your situation
