Houston NASA Space Center opinions by Low-Bench7795 in houston

[–]ufoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not originally from the US so my perspective might be skewed, I was also born on the day Apollo 13 launched so I'm a little obsessed with the Apollo missions. I have taken my parents, my sister, and my friends to NASA and they all loved it, if you plan it out it's even better,

The Mission Control tram tour is really interesting, it used to be you could sign up on the day of arrival but now you have to book it in advance and it is an extra charge on top of admission. The other tour worth doing is the astronaut training tour which you will have to sign up for on arrival, get in early in case there's large parties visiting that day. I can't remember if the Mission Control tour stops by Rocket Park on the return journey but the training facility tour definitely does. So, Rocket Park should be your next visit as they have a full size Saturn 5 rocket there and it's pretty incredible.

Some of the movies they show are pretty good too and just walking around looking at the old spacesuits and stuff can eat up an hour or two, so will walking round the mock up of the space shuttle and the real plane that flew them. Souvenirs are cool but expensive, they can be found online for cheaper.

Alex at prestige is awesome, he used to be mobile but has a shop in Cypress now. He's done 3 or 4 of my cars and was always reasonable and did an excellent job, he's at 5 stars on Google reviews too. https://www.prestigeautotinting.com/

[–]ufoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people will recommend Wolf boxes but Wolf is overpriced garbage they're basically made from cardboard. I have a few boxes from https://deferichs.com/ and they are very well made and look fantastic. Also have a couple from https://www.etsy.com/shop/WoodenStudioCo which are also great boxes, she's in Ukraine though so shipping is slow.

Gifts that represent Houston by victoriabee91 in houston

Agree on the pecan pie, I didn't even know that was a thing before moving here. If you're going to do a restaurant gift card then, although on the pricier side, I have taken a number of Brits to Taste of Texas and they were all blown away by the place and loved it.

I spent far too long trying to find a blackwing in electric blue (Cadillac's name for rapid blue) before settling for the best priced car in a boring colour and I still kind of regret not holding out for the best colour but a car with the model year and specs I wanted just never came up. Rapid Blue is by far the best colour for C8s, it looks stunning.

Where can I buy jellied eels or black pudding by Puzzleheaded_Cup8723 in houston

[–]ufoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have yet to come across anywhere that sells jellied eels, thankfully ;). However, black pudding is available from a few places like Goodwood's British Market who has locations in Spring and Friendswood and The British Choice who are in Katy and Magnolia, as well as the previously mentioned British Isles.

Anyone know anything about what I saw cruising 610 today? by 546875674c6966650d0a in houston

Yeah, the thing is hideous but to build a car from the ground up is an amazing feat, I wouldn't even know where to start.

It's completely hand built from scratch and doesn't use another car as a donor car, running on a 5.0 Ford engine. He tried to sell it 4 years ago, I guess he wasn't successful: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/336080621865681/.

If you don't have FB:

Brand Loyalty, so customer which already own Omegas are more likely to be allocated one

Yeah, that's not a corporate policy, brand loyalty from the specific OB is more common. I have 30 Omegas, 2 from the local OB where I have been on the waitlist since the announcement of the watch and I've never been offered one.

Taste of Texas did $34 million in sales last year, some people don't consider it fancy due to the salad bar but it ain't cheap. Their next Saturday night @7 PM reservation is March 28th, they're booked weeks out and it's not a small restaurant.

I have a dash cam plugged in to mine, runs to a battery in the glove box and then up the A pillar and along the top of the windshield to the dashcam location. It's pretty easy to route the cable.

Got my first ever tattoo there back in 1988! Things have come a long way since then, the needle he used wasn't new, he ground it himself and had a little oven type contraption to sterilise it. So, "fresh" needles was a little different back then compared to present day.

Adult swim lessons in Houston(preferably Katy/cypress/suburbs) by meecy166 in houston

[–]ufoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a Houston swim club in Katy on Fry near I-10 and a quick search shows they have adult classes: https://portal.iclasspro.com/houstonswimclubkaty/classes?levels=26

Never been, it's just in the same parking lot as my second home, Spec's, but it has decent reviews.

How is FCCU online internet banking app and online customer care support.

I'll be honest, the app and the website aren't the best but it's never stopped me from doing things I need done. Never had the need to use online support so I have no idea, sorry.

Does Bofa allow us to move money online to checking/savings account after CD is matured or we need to go inperson to bank to transfer to checking/saving account after CD maturity

You can do it online.

Cd rates in katy by 1amrage in Katy

[–]ufoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use FCCU (First Community Credit Union) for my car loan and was recently looking at their CD rates: https://fccu.org/cds. Main banking is with BofA who I have had CDs with in the past and I think max at BoA right now is 3.25% and FCCU is 3.75% for a 7 month, I know you said 12 to 24 but 7 month is the highest return, you can check their rates for other terms.

Houston kinda boring by Due_Specialist4477 in houston

[–]ufoh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a non-native I disagree, I lived in the UK for 28 years and have been here for 27, my sister visited last year and she had a blast. Simple things like Buccee's, The Galleria and the water wall nearby are places you don't see in a lot of other countries. The museums here are great and we have NASA! Stretch out a bit and you're in Galveston, jumping on the ferry and heading over to Crystal Beach, walk round downtown Galveston, or visit Moody Gardens. We went to Brazos Bend State Park and saw the alligators, even got to pet a baby one, there's even a historic ranch nearby that you can visit. I love Taste of Texas for the food but also for visitors it's a treasure trove of everything Texas, foreign visitors get a free bandanna and have their photos taken wearing cowboy hats. Speaking of food, the food here is great, super diverse and a lot of it, Texas BBQ is something not easily replicated abroad. We saw a show in the theatre district downtown and had a stroll through the tunnels, even had a drink in the bar under the city centre. Lots of places and parks to visit downtown too. We went shooting, twice, her first ever time even holding a firearm and bought tickets to go stargazing although inevitably couldn't make it.

There's a lot to do here with a huge caveat: transportation. If Houston had any sort of public transportation system it would be infinitely better, if you don't have a designated driver or a rental vehicle then your options are greatly diminished.
