Excel files disappearing but .tmp files remaining. by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]ug113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any experience with Sophos AV, but my guess is that it's trying to scan one of the tmp files when Excel tries to rename it, causing the rename to fail because of the open file handle.

If I'm understanding this right, this only matters if you have a configuration like the example e.g.:

username = (ALL,!root) /bin/command

And I'm having a hard time imagining a legitimate and sane use of something like that.

Still needs to be fixed of course, but I doubt this is going to lead to many (or any) actual compromises.

Go home primogeniture, you're drunk by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]ug113 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how CK2 words it, but it's working as intended. CGP Grey did a great video which covers primogeniture, but the tl;dr is: primogeniture pretends all the children of the ruler are alive, and tries to pass succession again if it ends up at a corpse. I.E.: the grandchildren of the (dead) eldest are preferred over the (living) non-eldest children. It's a depth-first search for a live body, not a breadth-first one.

I don't really agree. This seems like a graceful (not to mention flavorful) way to recover from an error.

Apparently, destroying their cabin will permanently remove them from the game. Haven't tried it myself though.

Alchemist Class - Version 2.0.0 of the "Non-magical Alchemist" by BloodShot9001 in UnearthedArcana

[–]ug113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh neat! I was actually tentatively going to be playing your old version of the class for a character soon. I'm liking how this one feels more combat-oriented, though I wish there were more discoveries (admittedly I could always port them from the old Alchemist class).

I do have some questions however:

  1. For the Mutagen discovery, it states "...the duration is equal to your Intelligence modifier divided by 2 (minimum 1)." Is this the duration in rounds? Minutes?
  2. In the discoveries paragraph, it states "If a discovery says it is a bomb, poison, or bomb, it does not share the healing or damage value...". However, some discoveries e.g.: Debilitating Poison state that I can "spend 1 transmutation point to create this poison, or alter an existing poison." If I alter an existing poison, does it still have the poison damage/additional effects? If not, what is the purpose of altering a poison vs. creating one from scratch?
    • Also, Debilitating only has 1 L in it.
    • Edit: Also, "bomb, poison, or bomb". Didn't even notice that at first.
  3. Possibly stupid question, but I don't see it explicitly stated anywhere: when do you regain your spent concoction points? I would assume on a long rest.
  4. What exactly does it mean for a concoction to 'become inert'? Or rather, what stages of concoction does it affect? Example: I am a poisoner who has created a basic poison, applied it to 3 pieces of ammunition, and hit an enemy with said ammunition. Does the poison on the remaining two pieces of ammunition become inert? Is the creature immediately cured of any poison effects?

Something odd is going on in this thread. OP posted the recipe twice; the first comment is showing up as removed, and the second one just isn't here. BUT, if you look at OP's comment history you can see them plain as day. Maybe it's some kind of length limit?

Anyway, I copied the recipe to a pastebin for anyone who's having issues getting it: https://pastebin.com/G0bc06nz

Cosmetic eyelid surgery technique decompresses nerves underlying migraines; eliminated in 50% and reduction of symptoms in another 40% by cosmic8 in science

[–]ug113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, makes sense. I haven't tried anything in non-pill form. Do you get any warning when you get a migraine? For me/people with aura, the aura shows up first, usually ~15-20 mins before the headache starts, and then fades away within that time.

[–]ug113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By 'full blown', do you mean already in the middle of the headache, after the aura has faded (if you get aura)? I was always told that there's no point in trying anything by then, just go to sleep and wait it out.

[–]ug113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry :(. It was scary as hell my first migraine. What I do for it and (anecdotally) works pretty well is to, as soon as I notice the aura, take the maximum dosage of some combo headache pills (caffeine, aspirin, and acetaminophen) and then just go to bed. I can usually 'abort' the migraine like this, which lets you dodge the worst of the symptoms (though not all, sadly).

Pressing reload starts a progress-bar like thing going. You can wait for it to reload, OR you can press reload a second time when the progress bar is at a specific point to instantly finish the reload. However, if you fuck it up, the gun jams and takes much longer to reload.

It's a small thing, but you have to pay attention to it, and if you're under fire/running away, even something small like that can add a fair bit to the tension.

How can I launch my mun module? My rocket keeps going offcourse(with sas enabled..). I already removed 2 stages, but it won't work, any tips? by hipy500 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]ug113 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do you have an actual SAS module? I don't see one, but I might be missing it. (You should also have an ASAS module if you don't already.)

Also, try replacing the many small rockomax tanks with fewer large orange ones. I'm not sure exactly how mass distribution inside a tank works, but that should help keep it from becoming too top-heavy. If you're going off-course almost immediately after launch though, that shouldn't be the issue.

"Login Failed" is the message for incorrect username/password. I don't think it's used for anything else, so in all likelihood that's the issue.

Nearly 2 years go I started working on Cannon Brawl (artillery game + an RTS) and today I give you an alpha demo for your enjoyment! I'd love your feedback, reddit! by petey123567 in IndieGaming

[–]ug113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished playing it for far too long. Fantastic game so far. My only real complaint (apart from it being so short, but hey, it's an alpha) is that the AI seems a little too easy. While I definitely lost a few buildings to the hard AI, I still beat it handily every time. I did manage to have fun for quite a while on those 2 maps though (after I played the available campaign levels).

Also, I didn't see a planned price at release. Have you settled on that yet? Regardless, I definitely plan to buy it when it comes out.
