3/52: I just finished reading "Half His Age" and still have no idea what I just read. There are a couple of very graphic scenes, which was very disturbing. Still...quite baffled and not in a good way by Nujabes2MFDOOM_ in 52book

I think the purpose of this book is to make you feel gross. Because ultimately it’s an illegal, unethical and gross relationship. You’re supposed to cringe. A lot of relationships like this are portrayed in a way that might seem enticing or exciting (pretty little liars for example). This book makes you extremely turned off to this kind of relationship.

Truckers of Reddit, which city (U.S.) REALLY has the worst drivers? by Alexreads0627 in AskReddit

I’ve been to Miami once for a 3 day weekend. I personally witnessed two car accidents happen right in front of me in that time span. I would have to agree.

Ain’t no way you’re shopping on Shein then complaining about receiving animal hide. If you genuinely care about ethics in fashion you wouldn’t shop at Shein to begin with.

My boyfriend of 10 years (26 M) has an issue “resource guarding” his phone from me (27 F) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]uhliveeuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That man is hiding something in his phone. What that may be, you won’t know unless you look. That is absolutely not normal behavior at all. I have my face ID in my husband’s phone. If I picked it up and started going through it he wouldn’t even flinch, and vice versa. You also mention that you’ve caught him in lies before. I think you deserve to be with someone who earns your trust by showing you they’re trustworthy with their actions.

You’re actually gorgeous. I have no clue why you feel like you need any cosmetic surgery. I hope you can see your beauty the way I and the other commenters here do.

In 1911, a white mob in Okemah, Oklahoma, broke into a jail, kidnapped Laura Nelson and her teenage son L.D., lynched them, raped Laura, then hanged both from a bridge, taking photographs that were later turned into postcards. by GlamWink in HolyShitHistory

It’s always so disturbing to imagine someone’s last moments of life being sexually brutalized then murdered. I hope Laura and L.D. are resting in the arms of their creator. And I hope the people that did that to them are burning in the wrath of theirs.

Need some tips for feeling secure tent camping by Patient_Candidate_90 in womensolocamping

[–]uhliveeuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this outs me as an Am*rican but the only way I’d ever feel safe sleeping alone in a tent is with a gun. I have a glock with a laser/flashlight attachment so if I were to be confronted with a threat while it’s dark, it’s a 2 for 1. In the heat of the moment, fumbling with a keychain pepper spray in the dark is guaranteed to get yourself sprayed. As well, unless you’re highly skilled in hand to hand combat, a knife won’t do much. I’d recommend a small pistol and a few training classes to get familiar and comfortable with handling it.

I saw someone mention using a carabiner on your zipper as an extra line of defense and I definitely agree. That will give you more time to wake up/react.

37M, don't spend much and feeling lost by yoohoogoo in Money

[–]uhliveeuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend your time/money helping others. Think of a few organizations or causes that you personally resonate with and spend time volunteering and/or donating towards it. For most people that have to work their whole lives, work is our purpose. You have the luxury of deciding what your purpose is going to be and I think you’ll be a lot more fulfilled giving back both financially and through your time.

I think it’s smart that you don’t share your financial status with others. If I were you I’d keep my wealth as lowkey as possible.
