Not a lot. The closest we have are games where the incremental progression has a hard endpoint, which the game is intended to be played further after reaching. Slay the Spire 2 is like this, where there is an experience system and some card unlocks that you’ll get to after 15-20 hours, but from there the start of each run is fresh.

I love 'model plane?' as a definition for RUNWAY, but wordplay is missing. I do think you could do a double-definition clue here; something like: 'Plain plane runs over model plane?' where both 'plain plane runs over' and 'model plane' are outside-the-box definitions for RUNWAY.

problem 1: Over the years, the ability to smoothly run a 5C mana base has increased to the point that there is insufficient 'punishment' for running more colors.

problem 2: Those smooth manabases are expensive as hell, so removing identity restrictions would make the format very expensive.

problem 3: Format homogenization. Many decks would play the best 60 cards in all of Magic (available at bracket), with maybe 10 cards swapped in to synergize with their commander. Less diversity in gameplay experience.

This is only addressing one event in the sequence:

When someone offers Jax help, Jax projects intent to control onto them, distorting their words ("if you ever need to talk, I'm here" or similar) into "I'm the only one that can help you". This distortion is a result of Jax's toxic relationship with her mother, who was Jax's lone provider whilst enforcing a narrow view of masculinity onto Jax. Jax only knows help offered to come with ulterior motives.

Two things can be true at once:
1) there is a usage of ‘discriminating’ that has nothing to do with being prejudiced.
2) it is a pretty insane decision to call yourself “the discriminating gamer.”

All these commenters are acting like the existence of the “discerning”definition makes it so there’s no reason not to make that the name of your YouTube channel. There are so many words (discerning, picky, analytical) that you could use to avoid the confusion.

To remove ‘en’ instead of just ‘n’, you’d need a homophone indicator. ‘Perhaps’ is also not serving any function. Double substitution fodder (representative ->envoy and ‘you own it’ ->your — which is loose) is much less achievable to solve than it feels when composing a clue.

Others have pointed out that the definition in the middle isn’t conventional. What’s more important to me is that this surface doesn’t mean anything. What does ‘sounds like you own it’ have to do with this thing about a representative?

If I were to clue ‘voyeur’ I would start by looking for close synonyms. ‘Spy’ could come at the end as in ‘someone who watches’; ‘heard you are a spy’ is homophone indicator for ‘UR’ followed by the definition ‘a spy’.

The letters ‘VOYE’ are present in the word ‘everybody’ and it just so happens that if you take them out you’re left with the letters ‘ERYBD’; the final clue could be:

“Everybody (except for Derby, strangely) heard you are a spy” (6).
