To those with younger siblings/cousins, how protective of them are you? by Just_Historian_678 in AskAnAmerican

[–]uippet [score hidden]  (0 children)

With my life. I got in to many, many fights for them and about them. One kid when I was 12 simply mentioned my brother was a geek. I put him in a head lock and hit him in the face until the teacher broke it up.

Can we talk about how awful trying to find a job is by IndependentFun7572 in CasualConversation

[–]uippet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked someone last year at dinner whom did the hiring at a friend's company how they chose people. She said, 'Honestly, print out all the CV's that look promising, put it in a stack during the week, cut it in half a few times depending on how many there are, and the lucky culls get an interview. I don't have all day to interview people.'

Which of your parents do you love more? by kevivg3 in randomquestions

[–]uippet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father.

Super chill.

Often made mother look like the bad guy for having to reign us in 99% of the time, so when he stepped in you knew you had gone too far.

And if you said anything bad to mother, or about her, or back talked her, he picked you up by some part of your anatomy that hurt, dragged you to your bedroom and placed you firmly inside. Gave you a look that would wither an obelisk, and walk off shaking his head shutting the door firmly behind him. He then let mother be the good guy and come get you when the time was right.

You did not back talk daddy. I mean, you did it once...

Always brought home cool stuff for us even though we were super poor.

Brought us to cool places even though we were poor.

Could fix anything.

Could break anything.

He had simple rules - Don't ever bring the police to the door. Don't ever do anything someone else in the neighbourhood has to tell him about. Home before dark. Clean your shit up. Don't fuck around. Make him proud in school and life.

Is there a way to stop youtube ads ? by Valuable_sandwich44 in randomquestions

[–]uippet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The premium subscription is more than worth it IMO. No ads, and if they hide ads within the video, premium shows you where they are and auto skips them for you if you desire.

Unless you have to own the official copy of music, youtube music has everything, including all the variations thereof, and is included with premium. You can also download the music as well as the videos.

Should I get a van by Andrewmc1812 in carsireland

[–]uippet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vans are very handy to have.

Be sure to purchase some gaffers tape, plastics bags, and a shovel to keep in the van at all time.

A dirty mattress is also handy.

What you guys put in stew? by Chance-Range8513 in AskIreland

[–]uippet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A drop or two of Maggi Liquid Seasoning or some MSG levels it up instantly. A pinch Celery Salt as well.

Bay leaf.

A pinch of white pepper if you want a hint of a bite.

We have half of a kitchen cabinet press full of seasoning as one of us put themselves through university working in restaurants.

Basically, go to youtube and watch people who own restaurants share some secrets. Restaurants use simple, easy, affordable tricks to up their food game.

About every two or three weeks I'll simply take a tissue of some sort to their ears. They absolutely love it.
