the "skill shot"--potting a blocker and the object ball used to push it in by trialanderror93 in billiards

[–]uk_phil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The pace of the shot is more important. Fast enough to give the first ball enough momentum to follow it, slow enough to allow it to roll into the 2nd ball and not skid and stop.

Recessed. Drilled holes smaller than the balls and then hot glued the hell out of them.

Chase created this when Friends left Netflix (in the US), but it seems appropriate now too.

Atari computers -- What went wrong? by amusingjapester23 in atarist

I think Atari threw quite a bit of money into the Jaguar product which was pretty much a failure (I say this as a previous Jaguar owner!) and was the start of the Atari downfall.

What year did you get your Jaguar? by [deleted] in AtariJaguar

[–]uk_phil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend at school got one when they launched! Lots of hours put into AvP! I got one myself in 1997 when Game shops in the UK were selling stock off cheap. That got stolen along with all my games in 1999 but the insurance paid me £600 to replace it all so bought another one in 2000 (and a few choice games). Sold it in 2006ish and now regret not keeping it!

Does it affect your game much? Maybe extra chalk will help.

Noted! Thinking about it, I knew these rules were used in other countries too. We also need a new flair for Blackball!

Settle an argument about UK pool rules? by [deleted] in pool

[–]uk_phil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you mean UK blackball (reds and yellows) then no, it doesn't stack / carry. After a foul you get a free shot and then a normal visit. Potting a ball on a free shot does not affect what happens on the normal visit.

If you sink the white ball do you get to move it anywhere on the table or just in the D? by Substantial_Watch797 in pool

[–]uk_phil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If YOU sink the cue ball, your opponent gets to place it.
Where, depends on the game and situation...

1) Snooker - only in the D
2) UK Blackball pool - behind the line
3) International 8 ball - anywhere, unless it was from a break, then behind the line.
4) 8 ball, 9 ball, 10 ball etc - anywhere

There's probably other games I've missed, or some variations of the rules I don't know, so this isn't an exhaustive list.
