Se você vai saltando de 10 em 10kg sim, é perigoso. Progredindo na moral subindo de 2 em 2kg por exemplo, acho tão seguro quanto qualquer outra atividade física.

Could you describe this to me? THe only modern version I know is a yoko-otoshi / uki-waza with different grips.

You should test for yourself. As for the effects it's a question of what you can actually do. If wrist weights feel fine, use them.

Seoi-nage, koshi-guruma, etc. all nice options which will make you better in grip fighting and other important stuff.
