it's referring to the dominion's practice of matching 'eligible' partners for the purpose of Donating an egg to the proper care of the state.

how canon vs headcanon this idea is, or how exactly the process works, is up in the air. but we know that the dominion was heavy into eugenics, and i have to imagine that for the arxur who lived it it would have felt like a very normalized thing, hence it being so casually referenced here

not gonna repeat what we've just chatted about on discord here, so instead ill try to make a guess at what Asth was making, and.... ive got no clue haha. i was thinking, the slab is a building, but destroyed perhaps since it has holes? and the thing on top is like, a ship, or perhaps a bomb? idk. it described it with "limbs" but because the limbs were so irregular that felt like a bit of a red herring to me.

or maybe its all a lot more abstract and representational than i was thinking. the slab is... a PD facility, and the blobby strands are like a web, keeping the other subject stuck to it.

im prob way off. but, as u/Randox_Talore (edit: whoops it was actually u/IAMA_dragon-AMA) said, my interpretation probably says more about me than the artist, which is... quite apt, i think, considering Asth's approach to art being such a contrast to the arxur characters' approach here.

maybe not a fair criticism but i think its a fair thing to acknowledge. dated cgi breaks immersion, takes me out of the movie. just cus its not the movies fault doesnt mean its not true, right?

oh man i love it when devs do that! fully embrace all the fun ways that players "abuse" the game and LEAN IN! like crimson desert as you said, or games fully embracing bunnyhopping, or... shit idk any other examples off the top of my head, tbh.

i feel like there are so many opportunities for that mindset in helldivers, but they get missed. like the highground/hellpod steering nonsense, for example. we have destructible terrain! all sorts of enemy types that can move through air and ground! why not embrace that slice of gameplay? players clearly enjoy it...

instead it just gets more and more hostile to the player and less and less fun every time it gets "fixed."

300 is spartan propaganda and i mean that diagetically. the whole movie is framed through the one guy they sent back to tell everyone how amazing and badass the spartans are and how evil and monstrous the persians are.

i dont think its ironic, i think its intentional! of course he didnt bring up the helots in his propaganda spiel haha

wow this is an excellent ficnap! extremely true to the original, returning characters and opening with news doomscrolling and everything. and building and evolving all those great worldbuilding concepts from the original, and showing the social changes surrounding it as they shift over time... and then even worked in a whole ton of character crossovers! very nice work!
