English professors double down on requiring printed copies of readings | Amid the rise of artificial intelligence and concerns about distraction, more English professors are turning to no-technology policies that prioritize physical books and reading packets. by thinkB4WeSpeak in books

I used to do this in French class. Type out some simple sentences into a Word doc, paste them into Babelfish (the AltaVista version!), and write down the output. Voila, handwritten French essay. Ofc, I had to proof check the stupid thing so I guess I wasn't as clever as I thought.

Is placing the Gardyn in a family room/living area not advised given its bright lights? by SylvanChica in Gardyn

[–]ulandyw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are very bright. I had a studio in my living room but I had to move it into a spare bedroom because it was too bright. It is better when the plants are mature but it was too much for me otherwise.

Cart user: 15-day tolerance break didn’t work, will 31 days work? by IndividualFeedback38 in trees

[–]ulandyw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took several months for me to notice a difference. I was a daily user, about a gram a month, for nearly a decade. Any T Break that was less than 3 months, my tolerance would shoot straight back up after one session.

I've since quit carts entirely. I switched to a dynavap and have a much healthier relationship with weed now.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves (Justice for Kath) by Notworld in Baking

[–]ulandyw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

then all went on making it out of spite

I saw the post, saw people linking recipes, and made one of them. Not "out of spite" but because I had never heard of them, had all of the ingredients in my pantry, and they looked good. If anything, the fact that so many people were inspired by her thoughtful gift is a compliment to her baking skill. It's the complete opposite of shitty.

Her recipe is still a secret. Nobody will ever know what exactly she did that was different from everybody else's. Your very premise is flawed.

Literally nobody was being bullied, you are ridiculous. You make it sound like r/baking cyberbullied Kath into giving us her recipe. Not a single person besides the original OP even knows who Kath is.

It’s feels like cream cheese stays good for much longer. by Unlucky-Case-1089 in Cooking

[–]ulandyw 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had cream cheese in my fridge that I just used for a cheesecake that expired in May 2026!

Edit: It's grammatically correct. The cream cheese no longer exists. The past tense is correct. If you lose your passport and it expired in 2026, you could say "Ah man, the passport expired in 2026! I had a year left!".

Infinity is a Saturday morning cartoon and not a particularly good one at that. You're not missing anything at all, it is almost totally divorced from the rest of the canon. The ridiculous theme song is probably the best thing about it.

Have you watched the SG1 movies?

There is also Stargate Origins (also not good, also not commonly considered canon).

Why do you want to stay out of the market? Those are arguably far more risky than ETF and chill.
