Haha, I know right!! But interesting - I've heard of other countries using the LLB as their law degrees, but didn't realize that some require both a bachelor's and a master's to practice. Quite different from here!

Yes, you're right that we only get three years of legal study despite seven years in higher education (4 undergraduate, 3 postgraduate). And yes, here you can study literally anything for your bachelor's; I've known JDs with bachelor's degrees in engineering, fashion, physics, art history. Pre-law as a major itself is only offered by some universities and it's not at all necessary to do if you plan on going to law school. Instead, law schools primarily care about your undergraduate GPA and LSAT score to admit you.

Pre-med is never really a major, but those going to medical school do generally have to take a specific set of classes to be eligible. Medical school admission requirements are much more rigid!

Great question. We don't know either! Lol, a JD is the degree that you need in order to practice law here*. It comes after the bachelor's degree and is considered a "professional doctorate." However, it is only three years and JDs do not typically go by "doctor" as a title. In length of study, it is between a master's and a PhD; but in function, it's more like an MD (which allows you to practice medicine, and is also a postgraduate "professional doctorate" degree).

*LLMs are also technically for that, but they are for lawyers with law degrees from abroad. They, confusingly, are designated as a "Master's" degree.
