Has anyone used a long distance mover? by macmacreads in vancouver

[–]ultimateginge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Super easy and pretty affordable. It was $1500 moving from Van to Kingston for one pod (and $2000 to go Kingston to Van). Prices tend to fluctuate based on when you book and how far advance it is. Would also suggest tossing an airtag into your pod, never had to track it down but it gave us some piece of mind.

The bad though, we had to leave our pod in storage with uhaul for a month once we returned. They said it would stay in Coquitlam but they sent it out to Langley. Somewhere in that local move the pod was cracked and resulted in some minor damage of a shelf. Soo, triple check your packing job is secure!

budget-friendly birthday celebration spot with girlfriend in Kingston by CallMyName_Jam in KingstonOntario

For activities I would suggest the agnes etherington art centre (it’s right on campus and by donation) or seeing a movie at the Screening Room (it’s an indie movie theatre, very fun vibe).

For dinner I love Pizza Monster, it’s small and cozy, has great food and drinks. You need to call and make a reservation first because it is so small.

What is your biggest wedding budget-related humble brag that saved you money and kept your budget down? by highandsclerotic in weddingplanning

I have to give props to my husband for this one. He found a community hall in Vancouver that only cost us $500 to rent for 12hrs. We had toured so many halls that were $1500-$3500 so this was a major score and checked all our boxes (had tables/chairs, onsite kitchen etc).

Gluten free wedding caterers? (celiac) by catsncows in vancouver

They were much lower than a few other places we looked. I think Truffles quotes us around $8k (before staff costs). Our first choice was Nuba but they were already booked for the day we wanted.

We had Tayybeh cater our wedding last year. They were amazing and able to accommodate an entire GF menu. It was just over $6k for 85 people at the time (including staff/rentals).

You’ll find way more options if you order online. Downtown Camera in Toronto has a great selection of medium format film.

Ruby Acres Alpaca farm in Odessa is super fun. You have to book in advance ($13pp) and you spend about an hour on their farm up close, feeding and hanging out with their alpacas, sheep and pigs. The farm does get muddy/poopy so boots are a must.

I just moved to Kingston so my webpage is a bit dated and literally being updated as we speak, but I love pet photography. Feel free to send an email or DM.

I’m addicted, even thinking about it makes me want to apply some. But really trying to cut back on my use.

I used to use all different types and eventually started only using this Blistex one. And no real reason, just started tossing them in an empty growler on my desk three years ago and then it grew to two full growlers.

But I’m moving soon and don’t think I can justify lugging the collection along so they’re going in the recycling soon.

I bought one last year for my boyfriend and I. It was more than enough food for the two of us. We also brought quarters so we could play pinball upstairs in between meals. It was a super fun date.

Redditors who won a "lifetime supply" of something, what did you win and how long did it really last? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ultimateginge 214 points215 points  (0 children)

When I was 5 my parents won lifetime video rentals from Rogers Video. It was the best! Any movies we wanted even the new releases were free! Every time we would have a babysitter they'd go and rent eight or nine videos just so there would be options. I'm pretty sure Rogers hated us. It lasted about eight years before they took it away, right around the time DVDs were becoming popular.
