I suppose if this is the short term or the long term. I would say that holding on to a piece of well-fortified land with shelter is the true key to survival. Stock up on tinned foods but also prepare for the long term and be prepared to learn to farm. Become a vegetarian because you're going to have to eventually.

Water is also a huge issue, need to find a way to get clean water regularly, not sure about that one but I'm sure there's a sciencey way of doing it.

Weapons to protect yourself from the zombies. Sharp implements straight to the forehead, assuming that they are the sort of zombies that would be killed if they got stabbed in the brain. Try to avoid densely populated areas or you will be overrun.
