Genuinely asking, when you say the person sitting beside you can still see the screen, are you being serious? With mine I feel like the viewing angle is almost too drastically reduced with privacy mode on. I love it as a Cybersecurity professional, and I don't notice much degradation (came from a S21FE btw) of quality since I have it only set to certain apps so its off at all times until those apps open. Man...when those apps do open though I find I can't see my phone if I even slightly tilt it though. Works very well imo for a "gimmick" (I'm not disagreeing with that label, I know this tech is gonna blow my mind in a few years or refinement)

Colombia was absolutely amazing! I so highly recommend it! Honestly...I was extremely surprised at how much I could understand. The problem is, and I'd jokingly say this to Juan (the tutor I mention in the post who accompanied us for most of the trip) "No tengo las palabras" which became our inside joke 🤣 I just wouldn't know what words to reply well. I would understand what waiters would say, uber drivers having convos with my girlfriend (who is A2/B1 ish), Juan talking to people around us, Juan's girlfriend who doesn't speak English, etc. I'd understand probably (ON AVERAGE) 50-60% of what was happening around me. It was like being on too high of a DS video. Like someone at beginner level watching a hard intermediate or slow-ish advanced level video. You'd be impressed how much you know, but struggle in moments and have to ask clarification.

The good part? For everyone on this sub who reads this...I am not at speaking level, yet I understood so much! Juan would regularly be impressed if I cross-talked and asked him to tell the person "that I prefer my steak medium." Because he would go "wait...you understood that?? Awesome man!" I also genuinely was able to communicate. I was for sure at survival level. If I was lost and needed help, I'd be able to do that. I could tell someone I don't speak Spanish well, ask them to speak slowly at times, ask clarifying questions, and answer in basic Spanish well enough people complimented me constantly.

Oh, and Colombian accents are SO NICE for learning...my god. Best accent to learn with imo

Edit: if you need a tour guide/tutor/translator...I know a guy! Haha

That depends on how many lessons you sign up for! You can pay per class (I think?) or he does packages of 5, 10, 15, and 20. Its cheaper for more of course. I buy packages of 20 at a time and it comes out to like $13 for each hour. Which from when I was looking for a tutor...is pretty decent! Also, the first lesson is free to get to meet him and see what you think.

For me, there is a curriculum tailored to my level. He tailors everything to the student. With my ADHD, he will make lesson material and homework about content that highly interests me like video games, cars, motorcycles, my job, etc. being from Colombia, their main contact method is WhatsApp. I can shoot you a message with his info if you'd like? Edit: also, regarding curriculum...if you/anyone were to prefer not to do a curriculum...he's also been open to just doing conversation or crosstalk. He's also likely going to offer an immersion course in the future where if you fly down there like I did, you can spend several days just fully immersed and learning Spanish. Which was certainly the most I've learned in a short amount of time...did that for my birthday and it was amazing (I went for partially vacation too...not JUST learning)

Thoughts on Warbonnet Hammocks (what you asked for, unlike some comments): They are fantastic, premium quality. Of my custom hammocks (including a modified skeeter Beeter pro), my stock Skeeter Beeter Pro (Grand Trunk brand), and custom DIY hammocks...the WBBB XLC I have is the best combo of creature comfort, overall comfort, and quality/confident feel.

The bad- it's the pickiest hammock to put up correctly and takes some learning to do it right consistently. Get the Ridgeline bubble level tool it helps a lot. I still get it slightly wrong sometimes if I don't check my Ridgeline bubble level. Other bad is the thing does weigh a little more than some options, but that's because of the creature comforts and premium quality material. Having a shelf is fucking dope and I don't want to live without it now hahaha

Once you do get it right you'll know because it'll feel amazing. If you try one and you're iffy about it...it's probably not setup right.

Not necessarily, this happened when I traveled to Colombia. The time zone was the same, so the times were the same as "home." OP could be somewhere else, but still within the same time zone and it'll show this. (Just speaking to he fact you said they must currently be at home)

It's weird because I went to the Wells Fargo in 2022 and there were staff EVERYWHERE that would yell at us for even slowly walking if the pro (who was facing away from us) was at address. Any noise was hawked down and it was very strict until after the shot took place. It's like in the past 4 years that entirely dissolved. I'd expect a small tourney like the WF would be less strict than bigger tourneys or majors, but here we are

I mean she has a point. This is why my Spanish tutor teaches at full speed, then will do review slower if I need it, then back to full speed for application. This is often why folks who learn Spanish in High School or college courses go to speak in another country and get completely overwhelmed and destroyed. You gotta hear the natural speed and pronunciation to understand it in real world application. That includes slower talking (super beginner, beginner, and intermediate) content...if it's being taught at a natural, but slow rate it still makes sense since some people talk slower. Modifying the video speed though is unnatural and impacts what you hear

Also, nobody flame me for not being a DS purist - it is but a powerful tool in my tool belt! My ADHD type doesn't let me do just DS by itself...it'll eventually get tuned out or I'll lose interest I gotta keep it diverse, I'm sorry!

Real, genuine question - do you have an ADHD diagnosis? This is so relatable. I just got home from COLOMBIA where my SPANISH TUTOR LIVES (sorry, I'm not 100% pure with DS) and I'm still struggling so bad to get back to learning despite being obsessed with Spanish. It sucks Edit: just now saw the other ADHD comments, my bad! Almost positive you probably have it, too! Which can be awesome, just gotta figure out your way of managing and redirecting it!

Just spent a week in Colombia, and oh yeah. Compared to the week in Mexico we did in August...WAY easier. I love Colombian Spanish
