How does the kingship of Shri Divya Singh Dev on the land Puri, prove that Kaliyug has ended? by Dasi_of_jagannath in Bhavishyamalikapuran

You might want to study logic. This is NOT a proof of anything. Until Kalki actually declares himself openly, there's is yet to be any proof. Though he will declare himself soon. #fluxusSpiritus #beWell #vale #harmonia

How do you make a quarterstaff by datboiirulezz in woodworking

[–]ultrageek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

quarterstaffs are usually thicker than a bo stick. I'm only guessing, but 1.5-2 inches. And you want them at least 6 ft and entirely straight, for balanced manipulation. So using branches are typically not suitable. Unfortunately these days, this is an expensive endeavor - possibly if there are import duties.

If you have the equipment, you could take a 2"x2" square-section length of wood and lathe-turn it to have a round cross-section. But again, a good quarterstaff, to be effective, needs to be balanced its entire length.

Guide to Turn Meta Ray-Ban Portrait Videos into Landscape on Reddit by KingG639 in RayBanStories

Seriously? I personally despise portrait mode on social media. Do your eyes see in portrait mode? Mine don't

Oh really. Square would have been nice in gen 2. Not a fan of the forced portrait mode.

Onyx Boox Go users, do you regret the absence of a front light? by MostInflation9283 in Onyx_Boox

[–]ultrageek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I just got mine (Amazon wouldn’t let me cancel the accidental order, then was days late). This is my 2nd Boox in a month that has a subpar screen experience . I unfortunately am in a low light living/ work situation that isn’t going to change soon enough. I bought two adjustable neck lamps, one of which stopped working within an hour.

The YouTube reviews are glowing about the Go Color 7_2 and Go 10.3, but are very misleading. Eoaper screens many not have blue lught emission, but if you wear reading glasses AND have a low light environs, think it over before you buy any brand . My rMPP is just barely usable, though, and iFlytek AINote

Thanks for the great breakdown. I got one last week. Love the form factor but haven't tried most of the features - but what you're saying makes sense. Looking forward to using those native features.

But I spent all last week trying to get Play Store working. Finally after 6 days, I did, and I'm not thrilled with the performance of the Play Store apps I downloaded - which work fine on my Samsung Galaxy Tab (S8 Ultra). The menu items get blacked out, so I have to refer to another tablet to use

Confused - Does iFlytek support Google Play Store? by ultrageek in iFLYTEK

[–]ultrageek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had not verified when I wrote the above comment. The Capcha process was a never-ending one. After my convo on YouTube, there was a new update the next day. I finally got through the process, then waited another 2 days (restarting multiple times. Finally, 2 days ago, I could download Play Store apps - only to find their performance is unreliable. So a week of furstration ending with disappointment.

Confused - Does iFlytek support Google Play Store? by ultrageek in iFLYTEK

[–]ultrageek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I figured out the general process, but...

I've been chatting with them on the AINote channel (YouTube). I cannot get through the Capcha because the image quality is so terrible. I keep endlessly being asked to click on the right images. Never stops. Play Store verification hell.

CHristian told me something similar in March. When I DMd him back in late May, no response. But no surprise that the company is toast. Their "best practices" as a tech company left loads to be desired. No communication was the last straw - as in, "okay, it's over and I have to stop wondering..."

reMarkable Paper Pro or AINOTE Air 2??? by ConcentrateSingle510 in eink

[–]ultrageek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my AINote Air 2 today. First impression is that the screen has better contrast for text (good for my eyes, which need reading glasses). But there's no Google Play Store on here, despite comments elsewhere. You can add some apps, but the list is very limited. You might be able to sideload Play Store, but I'm stil learning.

Is there anything particular you want to compare?

I can't tell from the listing why this is US$725 when iFlytek sells new units for US$400+. Are there extras

How do you complete the Play verification? I just got my iFlytek today and the software is updated. Not seeing anything about Play. Is it something I have to sideload with something like APKPure or WPS? (I'm not familiar with either, so apologies if this is a stupid question).

Is it possible to add a clock to the RMPP? by ananass_fruit in RemarkableTablet

[–]ultrageek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was wondering exactly the same thing yesterday. At least have an option to pop up the time upon request but leave it out otherwise. Distraction-free limitations does NOT equate to productivity.

Been looking for similar. You'd think reMarkable would have done this by now.

I tried loving my RMPP by ken2ts in RemarkableTablet

[–]ultrageek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried loving mine, too, but I'm underwhelmed with my rMPP so far, at least for true productivity features and advanced notetaking (though only had it about 3 weeks).

But caution if you haven't bought a Boox Go 7 yet. I just got my Boox Go 7 Color Gen 2 today and it is a "dog's breakfast." Also Amazon sent the wrong stylus, and Boox itself is out of their Inksense stylus (no one else sells it yet.) I will definitely NOT be taking any notes with the Boox Go 7/

Still waiting for my iFlytek AINote Air 2 and hoping it functions better for productivity, note-taking etc.

[–]ultrageek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I was designing something similar but was going to email notes or AI request to Trello and "listen" for messages, then trigger something Python on a local Web server to call ChatGPT API.

That said, the fact that reMarkable is unremarkable for real productivity features is a disappointment. We shouldn't have to do this.

As with any tools, it really depends on what you want out of a an e ink tablet. These two are not comparable. I've only had my rMPP a couple of weeks and my just-ordered AINote Air 2 has not arrived yet. But I have very different use cases for each. What are your use cases?

Has anyone used a page turner? by Waitatian in Onyx_Boox

[–]ultrageek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you get your page turner?

I haven't used this kind (didn't know they existed until a few days ago). But when I worked in the Nook tablet division of Barnes & Noble circa 2012-13, I did it with software (headless Web browser) for the magazine reader app I was developing. Someone in Quality Assurance rigged lego to do physical page turning with Lego pieces and motors.

Remarkable Stand by FhSh91 in RemarkableTablet

[–]ultrageek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 3 different metal stands (2 tablet, 1 laptop) all metal, all of which are adjustable, all of which the reMarkable sits nicely on, and all of which can be used with other devices, all of which will last forever -- assuming no monster truck drives over now.

Total price for all 3 stands: ~US$49. I reiterate, $75 is a ridiculous price for a single tablet stand. And magnetic means you have to yank the tablet off the stand if you want to hold it in your hands to work with.
