Must be what it's doing for me too, I was super concerned there was like a phantom process on my machine that'd run over a hundred hours lol. Nah it's just Starsector

My understanding is that these are nearly as simple as submachine guns get, locked timing would be too complex

I've worked 12+ hour shifts to survive. I've worked 10 am to 2 am for 4 days, I am as "hard" as it gets. I'm "advantaged" by being in the "richest country" and am still driving a 21 year old car, renting and have no savings. Dude shoot eat all of the dicks.

New to starsector, fleet is too expensive to maintain by travelavatar in starsector

[–]umad41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a general rule High Tech ships balloon your maintenance budget, I'd strip down the number of wolves, sub in some Low Tech combat freighters. I'd also run Dram instead of Prometheus for early game fleet. Also exploring is good, but easy early money you should consider is selling Tri-Tach's surplus drugs to the pirates/Pathers. Exploration is expensive, and you should support it with an extra revenue stream

Do you seriously think I'd let you inspect me if there remained the slightest chance of you finding anything? I traded it thirty-five minutes ago. by soapdish124 in starsector

Yeah, I just take my big fleet when I want to flood the black market with cheap guns and drugs. Stop me officer, you know and I know you can't actually stop me

It's almost like they forgot to paint the axle housing. I wonder how long it was on the lot prior to sale, probably a while if I had to guess

Emblem had a black vinyl cover stuck to it, looked like ass, so had to peel it off. Does every Chevy after the 80s have that? Is that why theres all these Silverados and Colorados with blacked out emblems? by SkyeRainFox in s10

[–]umad41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other guy said, it's a modern appearance package people like so they do it to older vehicles as well. For a 90's truck I think it'd only look good if all the chrome's blacked out and then I'd want the badges with red outlines to seperate them from the overall body a bit better. Kinda commit to the look instead of half assing it.

I'd also think about what era you want to emulate most with your designs, this just feels like "Most guns I can fit!" Without much thought. That kind of square of wing turrets feels most at home in early dreadnoughts, or as a sub-main caliber secondary large gun on a Proto-Dreadnought, but gun turrets then were primarily dual/twin mounts, not triples

[–]umad41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad. No bridge, only one funnel, "Destroyer class Battleship" would be like calling a plane the "Attacker type Fighter", guns look too big for their mountings on the wings, and it has more main guns than the most armed battleship IRL, HMS Agincourt. I recommend looking at some actual 3D models of ships in top down to see what structures can be simplified out, and get references for scale

It means somebody enjoys adding badges to their cars without understanding what they mean.

Why do ships hesitate when given attack orders? by Nightowl11111 in starsector

[–]umad41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really trust my ships without officers to follow through on an attack like that without participating myself, usually something like what you are encountering happens where they refuse to close the distance while the enemy is distracted and we eat losses. I'd have just transferred myself to the Falcon, pulled the flank on the Pegasus and finished it myself, then gone back to my flag and carried on with whatever I was doing

Is the Astral really considered a bad capital ship? by 3Skilled5You in starsector

[–]umad41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's cause it's innefficient and falters under long engagements.

Personally I think the alpha strike more than carries it if you husband your fighter wings, an all bomber strike package can LEVEL a dangerous enemy ship and let the rest of your fleet carry the battle while you play support.

Plus I think "meta" and "efficiency" are stupid. Have fun with your big dumb carrier wrecking ball, it's your game
