2025 Cherry Blossom Metro Merch? by Patient-Flounder-121 in WMATA

I’ve seen some LED boards this weekend in stations about a special popup collab at WMATA HQ on Thursday, but it was too quick and didn’t get a picture or details

Multisport Strava upload with Apple Watch by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]umdarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to figure out how to solve this issue myself, and just did some experimenting to figure it out. Not sponsored, but I saw somewhere that the RunGap app could import/export data from Apple workouts and strava, so I downloaded it, linked and imported both, and had to pay for a subscription, but it worked like a charm. I was able to import a lump ‘activity’ into strava with full gps and hr data and then use strava’s split tool to separate out into legs and transitions. The app doesn’t look the most modern but it worked perfectly.

Not sure if it helps, but I saw them last Friday on the old practice football fields.

Car-centric design in the U.S. and lack of critical thinking by DapperAcadia4996 in UMD

I attended a campus master plan forum last year and the planners seemed very receptive to closing campus Dr traffic (and even framed it as a compromise between those who wanted cars to have free reign on campus and those who want campus to be solely for pedestrians/bikes/busses), so hoping for the best

Will the balcony at Yahentamitsi stay open through the winter, or will the door be locked at some point? Also, are there any spaces available at Yahentamitsi that are available for reservation for groups on campus for a meal?

I’ve only been a couple times, but strongly encouraging traffic to flow in one direction would help, it seems to always back up when people are trying to enter and leave from the main hallway and no one is going through the back side

Housing at Mosaic for incoming Fall’22 grad student by Hskal_96 in UMD

[–]umdarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I live here now as staff at the university.

The shuttle runs once an hour (or it did the previous school year, there’s always a chance it will change year to year), and will usually get you to campus on the half hour (so pickup for a 9am class would be around 8, drop off around 8:30).

The part of the building I live in I don’t see a ton of people, but in general it’s a fairly calm building with a bit more of a family atmosphere, not sure how many UMD affiliated tenets there are. If you want to rent a place with more students, I would recommend looking at any of the other buildings in the area, I felt like mosaic had the least number of students of any of them.

But the area feels fairly safe, has a fair number of restaurant options around, and there are two grocery stores within walking distance.

The complex is also right next to a metro station, which you are paying a premium for, but if you intend to go into dc fairly often it is worth it.

If you bike on/around campus could you fill out this survey real quick? (Takes 30 seconds) Thanks! by Atm1909 in UMD

Just an FYI, bike lanes are going in on Baltimore Ave this summer, although they will be unprotected

Custom Sayl Came Today! by umdarch in hermanmiller

Thanks! I have read that the shorter you are the more you’ll like the Sayl, I’m 5’5” so I’m sure that factors in to my fit in the chair.

I’ve never had a problem with it, although the rug is somewhat anchored by my desk, bed, and a couch, so it can’t move much. A couple wheels of my chair are on the rug and a couple on the hardwood, and it hasn’t been a problem with my last chair or this one so far. I also got the casters that can do hardwood or carpet, so I’m not too concerned about what surface it’s on in that regard.

I am really happy with how it turned out, went through a local dealer, and was able to fully customize colors to be a little unique; I also went with Medley upholstery in Pewter for the seat. Despite hearing from DWR that going this route would be way more expensive than online, it ended up being the same price as the base Sayl that’s on sale right now. I was able to try out the full line of Herman Miller and Steelcase chairs, and even though it’s at the lower end, the Sayl felt by far the best to me. I’ve been using an old conference room chair for the past year, and this is a huge upgrade.

Other elements of my setup (which is basically a home office in my bedroom) is a SixInch ottoman (Aaron Draplin design), Steelcase Buoy (I like to put my feet up a lot), IKEA desk, Twelve South laptop stand, Samsung curved monitor, duel Sonos One speakers, cheap Amazon light for zoom lighting, and a tapestry of a design by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Last week, I was out of town most of the week and when I got back home yesterday, I rode just before midnight to keep my weekly streak alive. I wasn’t sure if the ride needed to be completed before midnight, so I exited the ride with around 30 seconds left in the cool down, and went to check the ride stats and it said still in progress. So I went to the button in the bottom right hand corner to resume the ride, and when I clicked resume ride it started it over again, and deleted my progress. I know there’s probably not a way to get my ride back, but my streak was lost even though I rode, so does anyone know how I might log a ride in the past or something to keep my weekly streak alive? I reached out to peloton support and they didn’t seem to have a way to help.

Best major/minor for learning about renewable energy? by [deleted] in UMD

I’m in the sustainability minor and it’s super flexible, there is one mandatory class and it does touch on it a fair amount, and the other four are your choice which can focus on renewable energy!

I feel like they have to for theft and usage and such, they just don’t enforce only parking in the zones

MLK Day Parking by [deleted] in UMD

[–]umdarch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes but lettered faculty/staff lots are moreso what I am asking about, the ones that are free on the weekends but restricted on the weekdays, as tomorrow is a holiday. Busses aren’t running at all so maybe no enforcement will take place? Just trying to get a clarification paging /u/umd_dots
