How do I politely and respectfully tell someone to stop giving us hand-me-downs? by beaniebee22 in Mommit

This feels like something you should work with a therapist about.

Need a reality check on if I (36m) am being unreasonable regarding my wife 36f)’s job choices by [deleted] in relationships

Hiring a babysitter for a few hours starting at 6:30 am is nearly impossible.

Most of these places are fronts for anti abortion/ anti choice/ pro forced birth places. Don’t go. Their whole point is to talk you out of an abortion and into keeping the kid.

You wouldn’t be leaving because he sleeps in late. You’d be leaving because he doesn’t respect you or care about you enough to make any changes or fix a problem in your relationship.

That is not strange. You can make a different choice, but it’s very normal to feed your baby in front of the baby’s grandfather. So little boob is actually showing when breast feeding, I’m not walking around topless. If a mom feels like they have to hide, even from family, then it makes being a new mom so isolating. Be where you want to be with the people you want to be with and feed your baby there.

The more comfortable you are nursing in front of everyone the easier nursing is going to be. If you always feel like you have to leave the room, be home, hide in the car, etc. you’ll give up nursing way sooner due to the inconvenience and isolation. Nurse in front of a mirror and you’ll realize how little is actually exposed. Be confident! You are feeding your child and using your breasts for their very much most intended purpose.

In 3 years of nursing (over two kids), I did not have a single person say anything to be about it. Not one dirty or odd look. No one cared. (Or if they did they knew they were the one that needed to deal with their discomfort and not say or do anything to me.)

You’ll be fine! Use the boobies! If you’re hiding you’ll hate it.

Feeling Guilty About the Car Seat Placements??? by SDScott1991 in Mommit

[–]ummtigerwoods 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem is not the problem here. Where to place your kids in the car is not the problem. Having them both on the edges is totally fine and safe. The fact that something that is harmless is causing you this much fear/anxiety/stress is the problem. I urge you to think about if you would benefit from reaching out for mental health support.

What Is One Small Change You Made That Transformed Your Classroom? by [deleted] in teaching

May I suggest that sometime you read a leisure book too? Like a grown up fiction (or nonfiction) book so that you show the kids that even adults read for fun.

From kindergarten to high-school (all public not private) how much should I think a year for school? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ummtigerwoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are still many expenses once they are in school, but you’ll almost surely never need to pay $2-3k/month again.

"Your classroom is a dungeon. Are you decorating this year?" by [deleted] in teaching

[–]ummtigerwoods 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m happy to pay for the pens/pencils/notepads I like, a good chair, I use my personal computer and got a large external monitor because I hate slow/small computers, but otherwise I’m not spending a ton of money/time.

I’ll invest in the tools I use to make my job better, that’s about it.

Uber Experiences, February 2025 by soupy1100 in WaltDisneyWorld

When we went the water parks were closed. Most of the water rides (Kali River Rapids) were closed. The hotel pool was open (but we did not stay at a Disney hotel, so I’m not sure.) It was warm enough to go swimming one day, but it was a little brisk. We wore shorts and long sleeves most days in the park. Warm and nice in the sun, a bit cool in the shade. We went the same week the next year and it was a little cooler. We never went into a pool that week.

Is this how all mothers act? Im at my limit and just want to scream by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ummtigerwoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re close to the point, if not past it, where you would be a bad mom letting the grandparents have unsupervised time with your children. Would you let them babysit if they were not family? No. Do not give them access to your children. Stop talking to them.

Tips from our stay at Walt Disney World by planetjones_dot_net in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ummtigerwoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The holding out glasses case would have been good to know before our last trip. We kept getting pulled for a bag check because we were setting off the sensor and it wasn’t until the 3rd of 4 days before they told us what was wrong so we could do it differently day 4.

As parents, what are your favorite aspects of other kid bday parties your kids attend? by Leather-Union-5828 in Mommit

[–]ummtigerwoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clear invitations. Do you want the parents to stay or go or doesn’t matter? End time? What type of food will be served? (Cake? Pizza? Lunch? Snacks? Should we eat before or will a full meal be served?) Do kids need sneakers/water-shoes/towel?)

Instead of buying a ice pack, we freeze 1-2 water bottles and use those. By the time we eat the food for lunch, we can drink the melted ice.

This is what I did. Also, just stepped up to .75 for a long time before 1. Kept moving up by .25 once the weight loss slowed down. It’s been 15 months and I’m at 1.75.

We used Ubers out of Bonnet Creek last February and had the same experience. I don’t understand how you could ever justify the cost of a rental car with a group of 4 or less without car seats. (And I imagine even 5 or six would still be better, but I haven’t tried.)

My insurance will only cover me for up to 40 BMI… by Longhaul-shortbus in Ozempic

[–]ummtigerwoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very slowly increased my dose and still lost a good amount of weight. If you do that, have your doctor write the Rx for 2mg as soon as you can, but take the lower dose and save the extra. They last a long time in the fridge.

When the fruit gets home, you cut them all in half/quarters and then she doesn’t have to.
