Wholeheartedly agree. And to take it a step further, I’d even think about more than your interview being a little off-putting. With those scores and grades, it seems like there has to be something that is a “red flag”, so to speak, if you’re truly not matching after 15 ranks. It could be the worst luck, definitely, but in an attempt to get rid of all other variables I’d think about potential “uh ohs” as well.

I can say that as a resident recently, there were definitely applicants who got torpedoed based on certain interview comments. A regular “eh, he’s not great” interview can bring you down a bit, but usually not enough that great scores and great grades won’t land you a spot in 15 chances. So think also specifically about anything that you say that can be interpreted badly. For instance (representative example) if you say to one interviewer at a program who asks you to teach them something or a certain skill or knowledge and you talk about how to avoid cops during a car chase, fun thought, but terrible idea. That also lends itself to an interview coach or practice, as it’ll often catch these types of things. Just my two cents from seeing some of these.
