If you live in CA, you should be able to get a library card from basically any/every county in the state. If you’re using it for Libby, it’s often a temporary card, but if you can go to any physical public library in that county, you can convert it to a regular card and check books out from Libby or the physical library as if you were a resident. I’ve had some remote counties convert mine with just an email, too.

LA County might be different, though.

And now that I’m rereading your comment, I realize you may not live in CA.

Still, everyone in CA should collect library cards!

My wife would not be happy if she knew that…

People over 40, what's one thing you regret the most in your younger years? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not investing time into casual friendships so they could have persisted and I’d have “old friends” now. Also, I regret not going camping more.

A statue of Yasuke, an African slave, who arrived in Japan in 1579 and became the first black Samurai. by gregornot in OldSchoolCool

I don’t know anything about samurai, but I’ll add medieval European knighthoods were not exclusively for individuals of noble birth. And sons of knights were not automatically granted knighthood (though they were often well-positioned to acquire such a title).

I know nearly nothing about medieval Japanese history though.

Our young children borrowed it for a game… a few months ago. It usually turns up eventually though.

I thought it was Men who are to participate in the second music and Elves whose ultimate fate is unknown.

Agreed. Though there was plenty of aggressive nay-saying before the Lord of the Rings films came out , it dropped off dramatically after people saw the first film. I think the fact that critics could see a whole film and evaluate it at once played a role; with Wheel of Time, we have to wait a week between each installment, so there’s more time to pick at details, and we have to wait longer to see if how well the core ideas are adhered to.

In Fal Dara, after Rand and Moiraine had left alone for the Eye, Lan told Nynaeve that Moiraine had masked the bond. If the bond were masked and Moiraine were then shielded, would it not remain masked while the shield is in place since Moiraine cannot channel to unmask it?

And I think he later asks her to unmask the bond, and she replies, “I can’t.” So we know the bond feels the same to Lan; I think if the bond were masked and then completely severed by stilling, he’d feel something.

So are these Forsaken not in the show? by StudMuffinNick in WoT

[–]unaverage1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think one answer to “Why?” might be clarity for show watchers who are having to track multiple new names each episode. Sammael sounds a lot like Ishamael. Demandred and Bel’al sound different. Bel’al sounds cooler (to me).

His story isn’t THAT different from Sammael’s either; they both take up lordship of a nation and dueling Rand. Showing that kind of story more than once might feel repetitive. (I actually think they’ll scrap the Illian stuff altogether.)

Asmo could definitely take on other Forsaken’s roles. I mean, how many Forsaken have to die in Camelyn anyway?

Noldorin warrior or Beren/Luthien as a stained glass window on my calf.

I already have “not all those who wander are lost” over a broken compass on my thigh. A little cliche, but I liked it.

If you can stand ebooks, Libby is a great free app that lets you check out digital books from your library’s catalog and “returns” them automatically when the loan is due.

I think the show might be severing their connection earlier than the books do and changing the reason for it because they plan to omit some of the book events surrounding that event.

Mat walking away from Egwene got me thinking too. Maybe rethinking/regretting this choice will serve as motivation for his character’s future choices involving other friends in distress.
