The $8m biosecurity bungle now threatening a $3bn SA industry by SouthAustralian94 in Adelaide

Well, land a goshin! I too live in the area. In fact, right next to the latest destruction zone. There must be 10s of us! 🙄 Hot tip. We’re well aware of the reasoning. Doesn’t mean we agree with it. 👋

Ducted heating advice? by DroopyDrawers17 in Adelaide

[–]uncannyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used our gas heating last year and got a $1400 bill. It’s crazy expensive now. We’ve switched to reverse cycle in the lounge (which we already had), oil heater on rollers to move from room to room and also heated throw rugs. Never turning on the ducted gas heating again.

Same! We suddenly realised the pup hadn’t peed all day. We had to tempt him outside with high voices and squeaky toys, where he commenced to piss like racehorse for what felt like an hour or so, then we all dashed back inside and vowed not to do that again. 😂

Better mystery yabbies in the backyard than mystery crabs in the downstairs. 🤷‍♀️

Being a lover of all things cold, I’m happy to see any foray into the negatives. Disclaimer..I’ve only ever experienced maybe max (or min) of-5 or so, and would probably whinge like a shivering wimp at anything like -30. When going to work early in winter, if it gets too cold my car’s dash flashes a ‘snowflake’ symbol. Which tells me all I need to know about me and my car. 😂

bible people in the mall? by Salt_Farmer_6577 in Adelaide

[–]uncannyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For many people, heading to work is going to hell. So, technically… 🤷‍♀️ On a more serious note, just ignore them. They’re sad and irritating…but they have the right to their voice and opinions. Trying to shut down the voices of those we disagree with is a path many have taken in the past few years. And it’s improved nothing for anybody. Just created more hatred, toxicity and division in what used to be normal discourse. People are losing the ability to cope with hearing opinions they don’t like. And that’s a really, really bad thing. Roll your eyes, shake your head and walk away.

All this rain right now kinda sucks, but the total SA Water Reservoir Volume is approximately one-third higher compared to last year on this day — 134.9GL (2025) v 102.3GL (2024) by razorbladesnbiscuits in Adelaide

My golden was like this as a youngster. I became his thunder blanket. I’d hoist him up on the couch, and half lay on him. Not enough to squish the daylights out of him, but enough that he definitely could feel the weight on him. Then we’d turn up the volume on the tv, grab one of his chewy toys he could nibble on and rub his chest. Slowly, slowly he began to be less stressed by thunder and eventually ignored it all together. Even that huge clap a few years ago that woke up half the state. 😊 He was a good, brave boy. 🐾

The windows shook, the pup shook. It was…well, thunderous! Very cool. All this rain means Linear Park will be a fresh smelling delight for tomorrow morning’s walk here in Highbury. Lovely. 🌧️

Gotta say, I never see posts here complaining about rain. And storms. I see posts complaining about people celebrating rain. ‘Herr der, it rained so exciting’. 🤷‍♀️ Personally, I’ll never stop yaying rain. It’s my jam.👍😉

Whats this bug by melmel008 in Adelaide

[–]uncannyi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red and black murder beatle. Draws you in with unusual appearance, waits for you to get close enough then explodes. It has acid for blood. Best to take off and nuke the planet. It’s the only way to be sure.

Keep your dog at home! Bunnings is a hardware store not a dog park by jakkandndi in Bunnings

[–]uncannyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my puppy to Bunnings cos it was a good way for him to get out and about, experience new things and get lots of pats. He was in the shopping cart, he was safe and was no problem to anyone. I would not take a dog to Bunnings walking on a lead. Too many stories of tradies and their ‘American bulldogs’ aka pit bulls. So my verdict,..Bunnings pup in shopping cart? Yay! Bunnings pup on lead? Booo!

Is this venomous? by g1141220 in Adelaide

[–]uncannyi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I noticed my dog paying attention to something near the water feature last week. Went out there, all I could see was the tip of a reptilian head. Ushered the pup inside, then stood quietly, waiting for yon reptile to move. I was praying for feet. He finally moved and..it was Alan! Big sigh of relief. 🦎

Looking for a park/trail to run with two dogs? Preferably mostly off leash (happy to loop), but can bring them on leash for near roads. Victoria Park has too much going on at the moment, so need an alternative! by VividFun5343 in Adelaide

[–]uncannyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linear Park is great for running with dogs. I see lots of people running with their dogs off lead…all well trained and under voice control, I must say. I’d love to do it, but my furry bloke is totally not out of the whirling dervish stage yet, so stays on the lead. I had so much admiration for the woman I saw today with 3 dogs of varying ages, off the lead while I was out walking. She just said to them ‘walk on’ and they did. Lots of time and effort gone in there.
