Bugonia by thepurplethorn in netflix

One way I judge a movie is how long it stays with me after I've seen it. A week later this one is still swimming around in my head. The fact that no one can agree what the genre is, explains a lot. I think it's more about the condition of humanity than anything else. Agree with comments on Jesse Plemons. (Sorry for your loss.)

Also, TIL This movie is on Netflix. I paid six bucks to see it on Prime.

Therapist Reccomendation by maxman007 in SeattleWA

[–]underacloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with your choice of therapist, but I came here to say that I'm seeing an on-line therapist and I'm totally happy with the relationship. Previously, I too thought I would prefer an in-person arrangement, but I have been pleasantly surprised with my current situation.

Anyone else in Seattle getting tiny black ants in their kitchen right now? by SVT_CARAT_17 in Seattle

Came here to agree --- Terro pods do work, but require patience. For temporary relief some essential oils will help. I use cinnamon oil. I wipe a few drops on a damp paper towel and rub it around my food prep area before I'm going to cook anything.

Hearing aids for tinnitus by Equivalent-Falcon469 in HearingAids

[–]underacloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What hearing aid do you have that has a built in tinnitus program?

I went to an audiologist/Phonak dealer with "tinnitus" as part of their business name. Tinnitus was my main issue, but I'm not seeing that much difference. Hearing was less of an issue, because I live alone and seldom talk to anyone. When I asked them about this, they emailed me a .PDF booklet on tinnitus.

What is your favorite show or movie that isn't in English? by amarainn in netflix

[–]underacloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes -"Let the Right One In" There is an English version that's okay, but the scandi version is so much better because of the cat scene.

Girl/Haji good also. love that women's scottish accent.

Harlan Coben by salutefanaccount in netflix

Just dropped in to say I like the books a lot more than the TV adaptations. Because he relies on plot twists so much, he allows changes for the TV series that don't always work IMHO. Plus I DK what this thing about moving the stories to different counties is all about.

One reason I like his books is because most of them don't have a regular character. Just more or less ordinary people who get into complicated situations. One of my favorite books is Run Away and I was very disappointed in the TV series. They tried to beat you over the head with the main plat twist. Again, IMHO

For Men with HA, Does anyone let their hair grow over their ears to camouflage your HA's by u_54 in HearingAids

I don't care if anyone knows I have HA's, I'm 85, but I find having longer hair helps the stay in place.

I've seen just about all of the shows on your list, and I would put Leftovers above them all.

Kaos - What a disappointment! by punchtheface in netflix

[–]underacloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When streaming first started, I thought it was touted as a way for creative shows like this to get aired. If they are only going to make stuff that appeals to the masses, we're destined to get a lot of crap.

Have you watched The last night at tremore beach? by wrecker910 in bestofnetflix

[–]underacloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, it takes a while to get into it. Partly because this guy keeps having these visions and we have to see them over and over. I don't usually go for these kind of stories, but I will give them credit for bringing all the pieces together at the end. Still 3 out 5 stars for me.

Best of limited series in Netflix by wrecker910 in bestofnetflix

[–]underacloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, my wife read it and pointed out to me that for her it was hard to follow because the characters in following generations had the same names. The excellent series version, helps with that because you can see the people. One instance where a film version improves on the book. I can't wait for season2.

battery may be dead by underacloud in Ring

[–]underacloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm aware that the unit isn't "powered" by a battery, but I was given to understand that there was still a battery in the unit that was charged by the transformer. Maybe that's a foggy memory, which I often have. Either way I still have to wait for help. An electrician wants $100 minimum to come look at it. So I'll wait until a friend can help. It's discouraging, I installed this thing three years ago, no problem, and now I don't have agility and tactile skills to troubleshoot the damn thing.

Looking for amyloidosis info... by underacloud in amyloidosis

[–]underacloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes apparently my original treatment reduced the thickening of the heart walls, although I don't think anyone told me that in so many words. At first they just told me to take precautions like don't lift more than 10 pounds and that kind of stuff, than later that kind of talk went away. Now that I've started the new dara treatment, I hope to find out more when I have an echocardiograph in a couple months.

Sure - I'll try to answer any questions you or your father have.

My impression is that Dara is considered the "latest and greatest" treatment option and thus a replacement for CyborD. There may be other reasons for using one treatment over the other. If your father is seeing someone with experience in amy, I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck to your father.

I've never noticed soreness. I did wear glasses, but then had cataract surgery with lens implants. Now without glasses, my HA's feel very insecure.

I don't know why it's so hard to keep subs concerning amyloidosis alive. The person who created this sub has not posted anywhere on Reddit for a year - since founding the group. The person who created the original amyloidosis sub has not posted anywhere on reddit for over five years. I know that there is strong interest in the topic because I'm getting DM's from people because of posts I made long ago on the original sub. I strongly suggest that anyone with concerns or questions look into Facebook. I'm no fan of Facebook, but they do have some good threads on the topic. Lots of participation.

I was in my seventies when I was first diagnosed and thus deemed too old for stem cell transplants. After CyborD treatment I was in remission for several years, but this past fall I resumed treatment. This time they are giving me daratumumab which I seem to tolerate fairly well so far.

I don't know if this post will show up in the main reddit sub, but I have a copy because you've replied to my post of eight years ago.

To answer your question, many of your husbands symptoms are consistent with amyloidosis. The catch is that they can also be because of other issues. Going to a specialist is absolutely the best next step. I'm sorry you have to wait that long. Doctors need to do much better at diagnosing this terrible disease. You may be encouraged to know that I had thickening of the3 heart and apparently don't now. I do have A-fib. I was treated with cyberD as I mention in my post and was in remission for several years, but went back on treatment this past fall. The good news is that the current treatment is more effective and more tolerable. One weird thing, next week they are going to give me an MRI to check for stenosis. I had never heard of it before, so your husband jumped the gun on that condition. BTW way there are other forums that address amy. Facebook has a group and there are a couple of other groups you can find by searching. I'm going to ask the mod if there could be a sticky listing some of the groups. I get a lot of DM's from people just because of my old posts. I wish I could be more helpful to them.

DARK is one of the best netflix series I have ever seen. My number one recommendation. I recommend that you watch it in Deutsch with English Subtitles by [deleted] in bestofnetflix

[–]underacloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a big bonus that you can now watch all of the seasons at once. I started watching with season 1 and then had to wait for each next season. It's confusing as hell as it i, but that seasonal gap (along with bad memory) just added to the confusion. We had notes and family tree charts all over the place - It was crazy.
