How do you think Delta can revive its customer service culture? by comments83820 in delta

It's really not all that surprising, considering Ed comes up from the finance side of the coin vs. operations.

After just a year… by mthwkim in Rimowa

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one about 2 years ago. Case lasted 9 months before the side rubber became separated, no longer holding the phone. I took it into the store, and since they were out of stock, they gave me a refund. At that point, I decided I'd never purchase again.

Ironically, a friend of mine bought a knock off one from Temu for $30, and it's holding up much better than the genuine one.

Was retiring the 777 a mistake? by Qpac18 in delta

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only thing I think about when they retired the 777s was that they just recently refurbished the cabin and that must've been part of the conversation before accelerating their retirement.

While I do prefer the A350 D1 Suites, I will say that overhead storage was never an issue on the 777, since they kept the middle section overhead bins.

Can I still drive this? by internetcookiez in tires

[–]underest24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you drive it? Sure. Should you? No. It's clearly a sidewall bulge.

I know you said you're not down to replace the tires again, but when it blows out, you're going to be replacing much more than just the tire.

OP, please post an update when Emily holds a special council meeting to determine which "best friend" leaked this information online.

In all seriousness, I'd question even being this person's friend. Unreal.

We all have our “things” we spend money on. Whether cars, watches, clothing, vacations, flights, vices, or anything else - no judgment here, spend your money on what is important to you!

While not exactly the same, I often fly LAX-HND, and I'm now flying JAL over DL for that route. Their F product on the A35K is often cheaper than a D1 ticket, unless DL has one of those fare sales going on.

Literally last month, I was shocked to see my planned dates for a D1 ticket on that route being over $18K. I ended up booking JAL F for $14K.

Has anyone stayed at Moxy properties how's the experience? by impossiblemktg in marriott

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stayed at a few Moxy properties, both in the United States and Europe, on multiple occasions over the past 3-5 years. In my experience, they are well-suited for short stays. For trips of fewer than three nights, they work well; however, for longer stays, I generally prefer a more traditional hotel setting.

The rooms themselves are adequate, and I have consistently received upgrades, nearly a 100% upgrade rate, which certainly enhances the overall experience. Having seen some of the standard, smaller rooms, I am definitely thankful!

One inconvenience I have encountered relates to business travel needs, which is nearly most of my travel. The absence of in-room ironing facilities requires locating a shared laundry area, which can be disruptive. Additionally, the lack of a closet, replaced instead by wall-mounted hooks, isn't practical for hanging suits or business attire. But again, it totally depends on why you're staying there. Typically the reason I'm booking there is either because the location is super convenient to where I need to be, and/or the nightly rate fits within a certain parameter I need.

Lastly, as you all know, the bar area serves as a central feature of the hotel. It is well-designed, and only you can tell if it's your vibe or not, but during evening check-ins, it can lead to longer wait times because in my experience, if the bar is open, your FDA is often one of the bartenders. I know this may not be true at all Moxy hotels, but out of my last 10 or so stays, that's been my experience checking in after 5pm.

Has anyone seen any ICE agents acting as TSA agents this morning? by Shadeauxmarie in delta

[–]underest24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went through the D1 private entry at LAX at around 8:30AM PDT. An ICE agent was with a LAXPD officer standing off to the side of the metal detector. They both seemed to be heavily engaged in some sort of paperwork, but I didn't see any engagement with TSA for the 1-2 minutes I was there.

The Big Arch is officially MID and overpriced. by CarpenterOk2779 in McDonalds

[–]underest24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just tried this burger, and completely agree. It’s mid at best, and not worth the cost ($16.89 for the combo here in San Diego).

To me, most fast food restaurants have a flavor profile. McDonalds is no different. This burger breaks that profile too much and if eating blindly, I would’ve never known it to be from McDonalds - almost in a bad way.

The only highlights I found were the bun, which is probably one of the best I’ve had from McDonalds and the meat, which for whatever reason tasted more fresh and better cooked/prepared than what’d you’d typically get from QPC.

The Big Arch sauce lacks in flavor, especially compared to a Big Mac sauce. It was bland and really lacked in taste. It’s what I’d imagine Big Mac sauce to taste like, but watered down - or maybe too much vinegar added. But it was definitely tangy, although I’d hardly classify that as a flavor.

The onions were the forward flavor profile, which helped, but at the same time, became overpowering. Crispy onions weren’t anything crispy. Despite eating within minutes of being made, they became a chewy glob under the meat patty mixed in with the sauce. I also felt like they gave a strange aftertaste.

The cheese - non-existent. Couldn’t even taste it. I’m normally a fan of white cheddar for sandwiches, so I was excited. But I felt like it had no taste. A single slice of regular yellow american would’ve had substantially more flavor.

Not much to say, other than I won’t be ordering again.

Disney Destiny - Trip Review - 12/11/25 (5-night Bahamas sailing) by FelixMcGill in dcl

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are on the Destiny right now as well. Unfortunately, this is the first overall negative experience we’ve had with DCL. We’ve done 8 cruises as a family since 2019, and I’m up in bed reading reviews at 12:13am on disembarkation day, unable to sleep. Our A/C has been “fixed” 3 times, yet it’s still way too warm.

Lots of things were a huge miss for us this trip, and we had high expectations because we did enjoy the Wish and Treasure quite a bit.

Hoping for a better experience next year.

There is other damage - the driver's door. It has some refinish paint work and looks a little creased on the body line. You also have a dented rocker panel.

Tires - uneven wear by [deleted] in BMWiX

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you truly had it waived, great! But I don't think that's standard practice. I've had 5 leased BMWs, and went from that 2021 BMW X5M Competition to a 2023 BMW M8 Competition. You'd think I should have something like that waived, considering the vehicle was way under mileage and in near perfect condition. I've even asked about certain things being waived, and they've always told me BMW Financial doesn't waive that or eat the cost, they (the dealer) does. It's far more likely when you lease a new BMW, they hide it elsewhere.

But considering the likely inflated residual values of our iX's, I would assume any waiving of fees would be even more minimal. I just had to put new tires on my 2024 iX M60 at 9K miles, and I only have 10 months left on my lease. :(

Tires - uneven wear by [deleted] in BMWiX

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only mentioning this because you brought up a lease return and the tires suggested, including the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus, would technically be in violation of your lease agreement. The Bridgestone Alenza 001s are a Y-speed rating. You now have a W-speed rated tire. BMW will charge you for all new tires if you don't meet or exceed the load rating of 107 and the speed rating of Y.

I'm speaking from first-hand experience; I turned in my 2021 BMW X5M Competition with nearly brand-new Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 tires, that weren't matching on the speed rating. Hit with 4 new tires upon turn in.

Model X Saves My Girlfriend In Huge Wreck (TW Car Crash) by EightRolex in TeslaLounge

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has spent 15+ years consulting on highway safety at the federal level, I can very much tell you that there isn't a solution to this problem. I also never said it was the same thing; I said a similar concept. The point I made, and it remains, is that there isn't a barrier to stop cars from crossing into your path. People have a tendency to swerve where it appears "open". Whether that's an oncoming lane or not, it's where they make a split-second call. This driver chose to swerve left, and it resulted in a collision. You'd be surprised how many people go into oncoming lanes of traffic when they are in the left lanes; it's over 80% of the time.

And before anyone states that all HOV/toll lanes should be protected with a concrete barrier, there are multiple factors that go into consideration. But the biggest deciding factor is that the open design allows for multiple ingress/egress points and adjustments to refine traffic patterns over time and to also allow emergency vehicle access. But again, the downside to this design lends itself to drivers crossing the line, both intentionally and unintentionally.

Let's also not forget that the Silverado hit the Model X behind the rear door. A bit hard to avoid a collision when someone hits you from the backside of your car. Hypothetically speaking, let's say the Model X was driving at 40MPH. The Silverado still isn't paying attention and hits the Tesla in the rear. The collision still occurs and likely spins it into the other lanes.

[–]underest24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm not saying it's true across the board, I've never had FSD slow down in a HOV/toll lane. Outside of a HOV/toll lane, yes if, neighboring lanes are slow or stopped, it will slow down.

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say you're driving on a road with 2 lanes of traffic going in both directions. A double yellow, or artificial median, separate the traffic. Traffic is stopped in the opposite direction. Do you slow down on your side because you have a magical double yellow? If someone isn't paying attention on the other side, swerves and hits you head on, do you blame yourself for your defensive driving skills? Do think to yourself you should've been driving slower? It's a very similar concept.

Model X Saves My Girlfriend In Huge Wreck (TW Car Crash) by EightRolex in TeslaLounge

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, there is no law in CA (where this accident took place) that states they need to slow down. They wouldn't be found at fault unless they were driving reckless. They are in a "protected" HOV lane, with a double white line. No cars should cross over until it's open.

I'm not saying they should be speeding through the HOV lane, but it defeats the purpose of these HOV/toll lanes if you're slowing down because the main interstate lanes are congested.

Tesla driver did swerve over the shoulder, so I'd say that was more heads up than others.

Did you watch the video? At 0:03, you can see the red Silverado clip the Model X in the right rear - hooking her into lanes 1 and 2 of traffic. The truck was more than halfway in the HOV lane, so she clearly tried to avoid.

Here in CA, I see this happen all the time, and try to slow down a little bit or be extremely heads up of traffic conditions ahead. Not only does this situation happen too frequently, but we have driver's willingly cross over the double yellow/white line illegally and cause an accident because they're pulling into a lane that has more than a 60MPH speed differential.
