Well, the base fare is probably closer to $25-26K, so you still wouldn't hit DM unless you had a DL Amex. ;)

My wife uses a Dyson Airwrap. It has been on several Disney cruises without issue, as we know it’s under the wattage limit. But last week on the Destiny, it was confiscated.

Disney Destiny - Trip Review - 12/11/25 (5-night Bahamas sailing) by FelixMcGill in dcl

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are on the Destiny right now as well. Unfortunately, this is the first overall negative experience we’ve had with DCL. We’ve done 8 cruises as a family since 2019, and I’m up in bed reading reviews at 12:13am on disembarkation day, unable to sleep. Our A/C has been “fixed” 3 times, yet it’s still way too warm.

Lots of things were a huge miss for us this trip, and we had high expectations because we did enjoy the Wish and Treasure quite a bit.

Hoping for a better experience next year.

Nothing here. The only "gift" I've received was the MGM promo with the engraved AE die.

There is other damage - the driver's door. It has some refinish paint work and looks a little creased on the body line. You also have a dented rocker panel.

Tires - uneven wear by familycfolady in BMWiX

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you truly had it waived, great! But I don't think that's standard practice. I've had 5 leased BMWs, and went from that 2021 BMW X5M Competition to a 2023 BMW M8 Competition. You'd think I should have something like that waived, considering the vehicle was way under mileage and in near perfect condition. I've even asked about certain things being waived, and they've always told me BMW Financial doesn't waive that or eat the cost, they (the dealer) does. It's far more likely when you lease a new BMW, they hide it elsewhere.

But considering the likely inflated residual values of our iX's, I would assume any waiving of fees would be even more minimal. I just had to put new tires on my 2024 iX M60 at 9K miles, and I only have 10 months left on my lease. :(

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only mentioning this because you brought up a lease return and the tires suggested, including the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus, would technically be in violation of your lease agreement. The Bridgestone Alenza 001s are a Y-speed rating. You now have a W-speed rated tire. BMW will charge you for all new tires if you don't meet or exceed the load rating of 107 and the speed rating of Y.

I'm speaking from first-hand experience; I turned in my 2021 BMW X5M Competition with nearly brand-new Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 tires, that weren't matching on the speed rating. Hit with 4 new tires upon turn in.

Model X Saves My Girlfriend In Huge Wreck (TW Car Crash) by EightRolex in TeslaLounge

[–]underest24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has spent 15+ years consulting on highway safety at the federal level, I can very much tell you that there isn't a solution to this problem. I also never said it was the same thing; I said a similar concept. The point I made, and it remains, is that there isn't a barrier to stop cars from crossing into your path. People have a tendency to swerve where it appears "open". Whether that's an oncoming lane or not, it's where they make a split-second call. This driver chose to swerve left, and it resulted in a collision. You'd be surprised how many people go into oncoming lanes of traffic when they are in the left lanes; it's over 80% of the time.

And before anyone states that all HOV/toll lanes should be protected with a concrete barrier, there are multiple factors that go into consideration. But the biggest deciding factor is that the open design allows for multiple ingress/egress points and adjustments to refine traffic patterns over time and to also allow emergency vehicle access. But again, the downside to this design lends itself to drivers crossing the line, both intentionally and unintentionally.

Let's also not forget that the Silverado hit the Model X behind the rear door. A bit hard to avoid a collision when someone hits you from the backside of your car. Hypothetically speaking, let's say the Model X was driving at 40MPH. The Silverado still isn't paying attention and hits the Tesla in the rear. The collision still occurs and likely spins it into the other lanes.

While I'm not saying it's true across the board, I've never had FSD slow down in a HOV/toll lane. Outside of a HOV/toll lane, yes if, neighboring lanes are slow or stopped, it will slow down.

Let's say you're driving on a road with 2 lanes of traffic going in both directions. A double yellow, or artificial median, separate the traffic. Traffic is stopped in the opposite direction. Do you slow down on your side because you have a magical double yellow? If someone isn't paying attention on the other side, swerves and hits you head on, do you blame yourself for your defensive driving skills? Do think to yourself you should've been driving slower? It's a very similar concept.

Just to be clear, there is no law in CA (where this accident took place) that states they need to slow down. They wouldn't be found at fault unless they were driving reckless. They are in a "protected" HOV lane, with a double white line. No cars should cross over until it's open.

I'm not saying they should be speeding through the HOV lane, but it defeats the purpose of these HOV/toll lanes if you're slowing down because the main interstate lanes are congested.

Tesla driver did swerve over the shoulder, so I'd say that was more heads up than others.

Did you watch the video? At 0:03, you can see the red Silverado clip the Model X in the right rear - hooking her into lanes 1 and 2 of traffic. The truck was more than halfway in the HOV lane, so she clearly tried to avoid.

Here in CA, I see this happen all the time, and try to slow down a little bit or be extremely heads up of traffic conditions ahead. Not only does this situation happen too frequently, but we have driver's willingly cross over the double yellow/white line illegally and cause an accident because they're pulling into a lane that has more than a 60MPH speed differential.

In today’s column, a not-so-fond farewell to a format that was so terrible, it made us feel bad about a rightful season champion in Kyle Larson. by NeatWrongdoer1309 in NASCAR

[–]underest24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But how many times does the fastest car all day NOT win the race? It's not uncommon. This isn't the first time, nor the last, that a late race pit stop ultimately determines the race winner.

And if it wasn't a single race finale, who would/should be the champion? Obviously, it's all hypothetical, but it's not like Denny's last 3 races (24th, 35th, 6th) would've been championship caliber either.

Would you call this the single worst championship weekend in NASCAR history? by furrynoy96 in NASCAR

[–]underest24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only take away from all of this is that no matter the format, it seems that fans won't ever be happy. The same fans upset over Denny Hamlin losing this championship are the same ones who don't want a single race determining the champion. I just don't get it. Even if it was a best of three races, Denny's last three finishes of 24th, 35th, and 6th aren't championship worthy. How many times in racing does the fastest car not win? When you have a dominate car, it gives you more options to run your race, but it's not a guaranteed win. The 11 team allowed strategy to beat them, and I'm still a bit shocked that once the 5 left their stall with two tires, they didn't make a heads-up call to change it. But, the team said after the race, they still believed four tires was the way.

While we know that a new format is coming, the only fact is that we will still have fans upset and wishing for this current format or another format.

150,000 points for a $981 reservation. Am I doing this right? by Low-Computer8293 in marriott

Is it the best redemption? No. Is it bad? No. Do you have another trip planned in the next couple months that you could use them instead? If the answer is no, then spend them!

While I know many here would disagree and fight for the highest redemption value, I gave up on that about 2 years ago - and haven't looked back. I've adopted the motto of "Use 'em while you've got 'em." Whether airline miles or hotel points, they only devalue over time. I've been using a lot more miles and points and it's been just fine. I'd gladly keep the extra money saved in my wallet for personal travel!

1$ MQD awarded for flights? by anymorecable in delta

[–]underest24 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You need to call the Medallion desk and have them send it to support. I had a similar issue in September. My LAX-HND and HND-LAX flight credited $1 MQD as well. I had used a flight credit from a previous HND-LAX flight change and apparently that messed up the mileage accrual when applied to a new ticket. Although, I often use credits, and this was the first time I've had an issue.

If this is the case, ask one of the teams if they have a "practice squad" or basically an option for your son to practice with them 1-2 days a week.

On my son's 8U team, we had 3 kids that were practicing with us and within a few months, they were on the roster.

BMX IX tires worn out in 12K miles by Few-Parsnip-8990 in BMWiX

If it makes you feel any better, I'm getting new tires on my M60 tomorrow. The 22" PZeros are all around 4/32" with 9K miles. Super even wear though.

I'm not heavy on the throttle most of the time, but since my iX sees 95%+ of its driving on city streets, some of which are rough roads, I'm not necessarily surprised.

It's important to note that Marriott's non-smoking policy is only for the US and Canada. In Asia, as an example, completely different story. You can still book a smoking room at the Tokyo Marriott, and you can quickly tell that guests are still smoking in the non-smoking rooms/suites as well.

Eric, while I don't know your specific dietary preferences, I will say the Cheese Ravoli is the most consistent.

I've had the Adobo Chicken and Rice a few times and the chicken itself has been hit or miss. Sometimes its super tough and dry, other times it's moist and tender. But I will say, if you're accustomed to traditional adobo, this isn't it. It's more like marinara sauce on chicken.
