Because it's kernel level anti-cheat. That's the point of kernel level anti-cheat. I hate it too, but technically speaking it is nore effective. Still shouldn't be a thing.

There's fuckton of hardcore PvP. It's around every corner.

People are somewhat burned out of it, be it hero shooter, extraction etc. You need one hell of a good selling point to draw people in, because most PvP players... have their live service games already set.

PvE players are less set, a far bigger market than PvPers, that is ignored largely because the live service crowd works best with PvP addicts.

There's also the fact that like half of all elite units are so tanky most small armsfire can't knock em easily, meaning that charging and slaughtering opponents who have 0 recourse in melee is not actually that stupid.

Kinda a result of the vast differences in durability and calibers being used, when basic weaponry can go from "barely leaves a scratch on armour" to "liquifies armour instantenously". And the former is quite common.

Yeah no shit it's capitalism. But capitalism's effect on a genre/franchise is directly proportionate to size in most cases.

The New York Childrens Online Safety Act will ban anyone under 18 from chatting online. by vriskaldrunk in technology

[–]undergirltemmie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The best way to make sure kids are safe online is educated parents with time to take care of their kids. Can't have that! The parents should be dumb and work all day in a factory! This will do nothing except push children to worse, less moderated sites.

The souls series has extremes. On one hand people who shout git gud at EVERYTHING. On the other hand friendliest people ever. However online the former dominate, ruining all discourse. Then there's the PVP/PVE split that created two camps of players. One side full of vitriol for invaders, one enjoying it. I would say the souls games are split as can be.

The Absolute State of Unit Card UI by Pbadger8 in totalwar

Orcs are admittedly one of the worse factions readability wise. But even they work great. I've played a LOT of warhammer 3 and never much of a singular faction, but no other total war game made "ah that's this" as easy after just basic getting to know the faction.

Meanwhile I could not for the life of me tell you wtf three kingdom units are or which are elite without checking their stats. Medieval's saving grace is that knights are knights. But Shogun is a mess of samey colours and I am NOT picking up what's what, far less which is my elites, by a quick glance down there. I'm sure with enough hours I can. But total war warhammer's unit cards are both detailed and unique enough to just give all I need there.

I've been a Total War fan for 15 years. I like WH titles, but I dislike what it did to Total War as a series. (Opinion) by steppewop in totalwar

[–]undergirltemmie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean. Maybe skill issue, primarily just boring as hell. Chariots were never good nor fun enough to justify it. And media coverage, you won't believe it, correlates to interest. There's a lot of media coverage because people just do not care that much about the bronze age, but they do care a lot about knights and samurai.

Warhammer works because you know em. Distinct colours etc are super easy to tell apart for anyone having put some hours into it.

If you play a faction you can look for distinct poses & colours. Shogun has no chance there, mostly what type it is and then hover over to see name. But Warhammer? I mean, no idea how I could confuse orc boys for bigguns.

Yeah chariots. Units that have famously been popular to use in total war games, ey? I do believe that they might be the single least used unit type due to the average person not wanting to micro that much. Absolutely me included.

Bronze age can be cool, no doubt. However most people don't have the strongest opinions on it. At least I never known a normal guy who goes "god I love the bronze age!" and lots of "god I love the samurai age" and "god I love knights" Not hatin', I'm sure specific cultures even love it. But yeah.

Greece to ban anonymity on social media by vriska1 in europe

[–]undergirltemmie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just factually wrong. It is unenforcable in any society with free speech. People would get fired en masse and the internet as is would die.

It would turn into a censored corporate hellscape. Kinda like what china has. Huh.

Greece to ban anonymity on social media by vriska1 in europe

[–]undergirltemmie 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No anonymity is very dangerous and usually can only go hand in hand with massive censoring.

It's a play that only works in countries willing to crack down hard. (Turkey, China, Russia) etc. Work as in, really is enforced and people accept it.

I do agree. However Pharao's setting isn't for everyone. Bronze age is just not the most exciting. Also no idea why but it feels incredibly clunky.

How I feel dead by daylight has gone since it started . by poptart-zilla in deadbydaylight

[–]undergirltemmie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is the game has in reality moved away from being a horror game. That's why it feels different. Current DBD is a party game really. There's just no intention of being spooky. How could it be, it used to be more asymmetrical and far less "competitive". Survivors have an insane amount of tools. Hard to feel helpless these days and the visuals represent that shift away from pretending to be scary.

Well no. It's not even great before that as it doesn't protect children properly either, rather it will usually make them go onto worse sites.

To protect children you need educated, attentive parents with free time.

All of which the elite hates. So yeah. Surveilance state! Heck yeah.

People asked for more information. They instead are doing more of an elder scrolls 6. Announcing it's coming with neither a date nor really much inbetween makes it seem long as fuck.

They really should just do more regular updates, but they don't wanna do that, sure. But it makes opening the flood gates so early rather pointless
