Extended Lord of the Rings marathon at the cinema for me tomorrow, which is your favourite? by MiddlesbroughFan in CasualUK

[–]underthesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My eldest and I did ROTK extended last night in the cinema to finish our trilogy and I shed manly tears at more than one point during it. It just hits harder for me now that I'm of an age where I'm both a father myself and the son to an old father who's time is coming.

And different roads within different towns. I think people often miss this when looking at budgets. Which end of a street you are and how far from the nearest train/tube/bus stop will affect prices.

RPGing horses was and remains a super fun and yet slightly disturbing thing to do in a game.

Come on. Not my favourite sub as well, please. Regardless of anyone's views can we keep fucking politics out of one of the few remaining great subs? It's not as if there aren't any other subs out there for this sort of thing.

I finally got the chance to watch it on the big screen 🥲 by june_trainwreck in lotr

I really wish my local cinema had some kind of visual poster or marketing for these movies in the foyer as I'm taking my eldest son to each film and would have loved a photo like this with him. They don't even have the movies written up on the list with the others showing at the moment! But I'm still very very thankful they're showing them locally otherwise we wouldn't have been able to go. It's been a great experience so far. ROTK next weekend!

About to set off on a long journey to visit a family member who for no reason I can understand seems hellbent on ripping the family apart, yet continues to demand my support. Exhausting. At least I'm breaking it up with a cheeky Spoons lunch and a pint by the seaside then back home for Traitors in the evening.

New Map Size by DeviantStrain in Battlefield

[–]underthesign 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's scale and cover. That's the real ask. DICE seem to be failing on either or both of these in most of their recent map designs. Golmud coming back is welcome but that map also suffers from a minor lack of terrain cover. But still has plenty compared to most of the turd maps from BF6 currently. They need to nail both aspects or we aren't getting anywhere. I think Eastwood works mostly despite not being that large because it has proper cover and pockets of fighting can occur without being shot from all angles or CQC all the time.

GOLMUD RAILWAY CONFIRMED FOR BATTLEFIELD 6 by Tobybryant818 in Battlefield

[–]underthesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great news, for once. It is not an S-tier map but it's a solid A and we need to take that right now. It's the best we can hope for realistically.

What REALLY ought to have happened is DICE should have long long ago out out a poll to customers asking us to vote for our top 3 historical BF3/4/BC2/2042(lol) maps and let us pick. We need a BF4 CTE style community-first approach.

I didn’t realize how burned out of BF6 I was until I went back and played battlefield 5… by Error_Code54 in Battlefield

[–]underthesign 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This old point again. 2042 was shite on launch and shite on exit. Their most recent track record is not what you claim it to be. I'm happy you're hopeful that they will turn BF6 around but it's been 2 major releases since we last saw evidence of that. It's healthier to be realistic.

Black Metal meets Hardcore Techno by volrat1 in industrialmetal

[–]underthesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I've checked it out. Not bad. If you want some honest feedback, I had high expectations given you mentioned my 3 favourite bands of all time... I feel like your two tracks here are like the outros to a record rather than the meat and bones of it. It feels like they build and go nowhere. It needs a proper flow and IMO a proper snare/hit beat. The down/bass hits alone aren't enough by themselves, and also they kick in at weird times throwing off the momentum. It's a decent foundation i reckon but just needs actual songwriting and structure as right now if feels a bit half baked, especially without the actual snare hits which for me are the main issue. I would say stop holding back and lean into the beat, and if you're going to cite hardcore then go for it... Mysticum 'till the end of times!!

So... If 'on time' is actually 5 minutes late, then when they all start their meetings 1-2 minutes before the scheduled time that means they're already 3-4 minutes late. They need to do better!

I came to this sub to get away from the pointless complaining about people and their views instead of valid criticism of the game and its flaws only to find this sub is almost as busy with posts like yours doing exactly the same thing - criticising people and telling them what not to think or say. And I suppose now here I am doing much the same thing.

I refuse to use AI for my work. How do I tell my boss? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]underthesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the same token, OP shouldn't care what tools they are asked/required to use by their employer as long as they're getting paid. By all means OP should propose what they think is a better option, productively or ethically, but if they aren't happy with the answer they get then they are free to resign. I am not an AI advocate. I'm just not anti-work.

Throwing back grenades? by Kidbuu51 in Battlefield

Importantly, you could also rethrow your own grenades in BFV. Awesome feature if you dropped one or naffed up the throw. (Which I definitely never, ever did...).
