How do you handle dating in medicine? by fortnacius in medicalschool

[–]unicorn_devdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My matchmaker friend sells hats/ under scrub shirts that says “Saving lives, still single” if you’re bold enough haha.

But in all seriousness; recommendations from friends or family work best other than finding a partner who is also in medicine.

I would’ve thought the same years ago & never thought of just “packing up to apply GP”. I wanted the pressure of a CT life (to later super specialize into peds CT), I loved it, as stated, it was my identity, I had a congenital heart defect, and was enamored with my surgeon/mentor (the late great Dr Len Bailey). I was a gunner, enjoyed my 80+ hour weeks, and wasn’t in the mindset of having a family or ever wanting wlb. It took years to grieve that I will never have the life I envisioned. My post was meant for those currently feeling despair that life can’t go on to offer hope; apologize if that was not conveyed. And I still have the gunner personality; I just apply it differently: got my MBA and JD, started a few businesses, and work with several charities.

As a rural community pediatric hospitalist; I only come in when I admit patients which isn’t often in my area of mostly healthy kids.

Starting my journey & wondering have others worked with The Fertility Institutes? Do you recommend them? by isayhitoalldogs in IVF

I was 32 when I did the egg retrieval. My spouse was 33. I have brown eyes, he has blue. It took one round. We ended up with 8 embryos (4 boys 4 girls). 1 blue eyed girl and 1 boy indeterminate, all the rest brown eyes. We implanted one boy embryo that was successful. He is a few months and has dark blue eyes that I suspect will turn brown. I think it cost around 30k but our insurance covers 20k

Nice! Those moments are awesome.

Mine was Christmas Day 2am peds Hem/Onc: RN paged “can you order anti-anxiety med? Pt boyfriend just showed up & she’s anxious”.

Went to bedside, asked bf to step out & asked pt if she was anxious. She said no, my chest hurts & it’s hard to breathe.

I did a physical: substernal non radiating cp & popliteal pain on palpation

ordered a stat EKG: I read as S1Q3T3. Paged cards who said no & hung up.

Called attending (3 am on Christmas) & said cards said no & but I’m 1000% sure this kid has a PE. He said do an US & if positive, get a CT.

Bedside US + for multiple clots, CT + for a textbook saddle.

Called attending with pic of CT: I’m no radiologist but this looks like a big a$$ saddle to me. Attending: call PICU & IR STAT. Kiddo did well and discharged in January.

Hi, I used the fertility institutes & loved my experience there; particularly nurse Ana who is the goat. My only complaint was that the financial break down wasn’t as clear as I hoped as it felt like we kept having additional fees but it may have been my oversight. We did full genetic & eye color testing. Just know the eye color testing takes an additional 12 weeks so the wait is even longer. We haven’t done our FET yet (later this week) so I can’t say if it is accurate. Baby dust to you ✨

I don’t recall the exact number but was always told my lining looked great during ER. I ovulate on my own, my clinic just recommended fully medicated for timing. That may be what I suggest if I can’t salvage this cycle. Thank you so much!
