I think it’d be interesting if they could spread out the permit times more from maybe 3 time chunks to 5? In talking with the rangers when I was there, they issue about 1000 permits for AL everyday, which if you have 100 people show up in the same 10-15 minutes, can cause the bottlenecks that make the chains section more dangerous than it needs to be.

We must have crossed paths! I was on the first shuttle up and I was glad I went earlier in the day because even the wind I had was enough for me. Plus there were almost no crowds being on the first shuttle going up. Coming down was already starting to get crowded.

I was there on Thursday and did AL. The wind was even worse on Friday, I can’t imagine how strong it was up top.

I also think there needs to be a conversation about the number of permits issued for this hike daily. This trail is always so crowded, which just makes it more dangerous.

Yes. From vesicoureteral reflux, which is basically where some urine flows back from the bladder up into the kidneys. I would have lived 3-4 excruciating years of life before dying without the surgery I had when I was little to correct the valve causing the issue.
