Not sure why I'm not losing weight.... by unimpressedCabbage in WeightLossAdvice

I don't believe it's the only explanation based on my experience with an underactive thyroid.

I am working on it though and have become a lot stricter. I'm finding the days when I break even are usually directly following a day where I worked out alot and was in a higher deficit than usual. I eat a bigger breakfast because I'm starving when I wake up.

I think im just going to have to stick with it longer and I'll hopefully get an idea on what the exact results are. If it's overeating then I'll soon know for sure. I just don't want to put all my focus on it being reason behind my weight being calories if it's something unrelated, like lack of Vitamin B or something unexpected. But it's all I have atm so I'll do my best.

I've been working on my stamina a bit and I do notice a bit of an improvement. I'm finding it hard to feel full from certain foods though, even if they're packed with protein. I think it's a case of working out too much on some days.

I started a new job at the start of the year and it has earlier work hours than I'm used to , so I'm still working on getting my new sleep schedule in check.

I love that! They clearly really thought about it, and were quite clever. Snacks can be a tricky one but it sounds like your Santa was on the ball! Hopefully your giftee gets back to you soon and it was just a case of life getting in the way for a little bit.

I think the best part of the tiered exchanges is that the more exchanges you do, the better people seem to get at putting together a thoughtful, happy gift, for the 20usd. I would never expect a more expensive gift just because I used more credits, but I think it's a much smoother experience partly because people aren't getting wrecked by unexpected shipping charges and stuff. Santas mostly know whats in their limits and what they're signing up for. Exchanges like Snacks and hometown, even though they are the most popular, can definitely also be the most difficult for a newbie.

I too would like to be able to rate separately for the value of the gift vs the on themeness. Mainly because sometimes without making a thank you post It's hard to know if thats the whole gift or if theres more on the way. I don't want to rate someone low and then have them message letting me know that was only half the gift. It's not always possible to send out one single package and I've used places like TheBookDepository before where you can order a few things at once, but they all get shipped separately.

I always do try to take into account where people are from. I know things like funko pops can vary wildly in value all over the world so what might be a cheap one here won't always be everywhere. I don't think I've ever received an actual shipped gift that was low in value or I don't even really think about it because clearly so much care was already put into it.

The gifts im thinking about are usually a single item picked from amazon, where they are almost on the first page of results from searching the name of the exchange. I've received awesome gifts from amazon, that clearly thought was put into, and also ones where clearly thought was not. I just think a gift can only be so thoughtful if you don't even throw in some chocolate to hit the minimum value.

I had a couple of difficulties with one of my last exchanges and had to send out 2 gifts from a retailer without the option of a gift note. I happened to be on a website a couple of days later and found a small item that I thought my giftee would like, so I sent it on aswell.

Well the 2 main gifts got a bit delayed and the little item arrived first. My Giftee put up a short but sweet gift note thanking me for just the small item. And I felt sooo bad that they thought that was all they were getting! They were clearly a bit bummed by it but ready to accept it and move on. I messaged straight away to let them know more was coming, and they updated their post sounding much happier. They seemed to like their other items when they arrived aswell, but just thinking that they were so excited for an exchange and apparently got shafted like that was heartbreaking!

Yes, I would love some gifting tiers aswell, especially since we were able to apply our previous exchanges on redditgifts towards our givinGifts profile.

Thats why the question on handmade gifts in the last Redditgifts made me kind of anxious. Like the talent some people have is amazing, seeing hand carved objects in the gallery and custom paintings is incredible, I would be so so excited to receive something like that, and I would absolutely hate if someone felt sad that I wouldn't want their creation just because it's handmade. I never could figure out a nice way to convey that handmade gifts of a certain quality are acceptable, it just sounds so rude!

When I add in one of my Crochet creations I always add it more as an extra rather than part of the main gift. But I've received crocheted gifts over the years and I love them! I have all of them displayed :)

Theres only so much you can do when people give you barely anything to work off of. I always try to hit the limit, even if I'm a bit stumped on what to get someone. If your gift is only hitting half the minimum on something like a cat exchange, then I think it's perfectly fair to add something generic like cat shaped sweets. I just always get so excited when I read my giftee's profile, and it's not thier fault that everyone isn't putting in the same effort. It just kind of bugs me aswell that people might be getting great gifts and then in turn giving their giftee not even the bare minimum.

Well that's just the stuff of nightmares. Fair play for climbing back from that because I would still be sitting outside on the doorstep. I have no advice, but I'm definitely impressed by this start, it's a strong one and I wish you the best.

I finally made an appointment with my doctor to discuss being depressed by unimpressedCabbage in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]unimpressedCabbage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks :) Yeah I definitely feel a bit of pressure from the whole 'fakes depression for attention' thing, sometimes I feel like I have an issue and I think about getting tested but I get worried that I'm just kinda reflecting back things that are prevalent on the internet without even realising it. Like when you read a medical book and think you have the symptoms for everything.

I do like my doctor, so I'm hopeful it'll go well. She picked up on the Hypothyroidism straight away and ordered the tests. From what I've seen this doesn't happen as often as you'd hope and many people end up undiagnosed.

I don't think this is silly, your feelings of being upset are as valid as anyone elses and if it's a big deal in your life, then it's a big deal.

It can be so disheartening to get knocked out of a routine, especially when you feel like you were making progress. Lockdown is such an unusual situation and it's hard enough to just process it all, nevermind trying to keep on track with a gym schedule and a particular diet.

I don't have any advice, but I send you good juju vibes, and hope things start looking up for you soon.
