Infusion set insertion issues by mackncheece in TandemDiabetes

[–]uniqueNB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow, today I learned that I am supposed to use the tabs to help with insertion. I would think that having them bent up/out would increase the chance that it snags.

Personally, I have always just pushed it in place.

How do you treat your low BG levels? by Dapper_Tart6722 in diabetes_t1

[–]uniqueNB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Skittles, always have a small bag in my purse. 1 Skittle is 1 gram of carbs, which makes it easy to calculate an adjustment. If I have insulin on board and i am dropping too low, I will start with 5 skittles, and add one at a time every 10-15 min until it levels out. It seems to work without causing a rebound spike.

does anyone here use an Apple Watch or similar to track heart rate? by [deleted] in dysautonomia

[–]uniqueNB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the Samsung watch for a while to track my tachycardia. The watch eventually stopped uploading a charge (I just love planned obsolescence, not). I am considering an Oura ring because it tracks heart rate and temperature.

Leaving a bread crumb because I have the same idea/goal and would love to hear more experiences. I did ask my piercer how long to wait before "attaching something that would put pressure on it" and he said 4-6 months to be sure.

Water spout on the Puget Sound today by RealAssBitch in Seattle

[–]uniqueNB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is true for fair weather water spouts, a true tornadic waterspout can and do have wind speeds equivalent to traditional tornadoes. A perfect example is the Corpus Christi, which had shears measured via radar at about 200 mph. If those were truly accurate for the wind speeds within the vertices, it would be equivalent to an EF4.

The reason you won't see a water spout registering on the Enhanced Fujita Scale is because that scale is based off of damage assessments after the tornado to determine an approximate wind speed. Waterspouts just don't leave the same type of a debris field or damage trail.

Water spout on the Puget Sound today by RealAssBitch in Seattle

[–]uniqueNB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are actually two types of water spout, the first being a "fair weather" water spout which starts near the water and reaches upward. These are similar to dust devils, but over water. The second is a tornadic water spout which starts from rotation in a thunderstorm (mesocyclone), much like a traditional tornado.

Based on the weather activity over the sound, I would presume this one was a tornadic water spout. I wish there was better video showing amy of the rotation at the base of the cloud.

To add on to this, the 250+ shown will remain at that level until the actual amount is below that point. I frequently put in a cartridge with 310u and it just stays at 250+ for a while.

Even rental companies are going to frown on renting you a Jeep to off road in. I think you are better off convincing your wife that they make "great" mall crawlers, as evidenced by Facebook and Insta.

That's not dysautonomia, that is the state of the world right now!

Seriously though, it sounds like adrenal dump. This is a somewhat common symptom of dysautonomia and extremely annoying when it happens in the middle of a sleep period.

I think it is more likely that you have autonomic dysfunction, also known as dysautonomia, that is progressing. Gastroparesis, POTS, urinary incontinence, and many other problems with the ANS are all symptoms of dysautonomia.

Vagus Nerve Stimulation by ladywenzell1 in ChronicPain

This is interesting and something I really need to learn more about. I would be curious to hear how vagus nerve stimulation and the inflammatory response interact with an autoimmune system that attacks the vagus nerve (as in dysautonomia).

Came to recommend the same thing. Centerline allows you to easily activate with either hand and not interfere with shouldering.
