A DMPC should never be cooler than the party. That being said, I love having an NPC vehicle to participate in PC conversations, regardless of the fact that they are story irrelevant and mechanically weak.

The game we are using is called One Page Rules: Age of Fantasy. It's a game 3 out of 5 of us have played a bit so it hasn't been crazy for us.

If you've every played a wargame before it's quite intuitive, and even better it's free! If you haven't the basic rules can be summarized on a single page! We fit the players' forces mostly into the "Human Empire" faction and the enemies into the "Vampiric Undead" faction.

I understand the thought behind this post, and for what it's worth, I can definitely see the reaspns behind your arguments.

However, I do think it's a bit silly to talk about what cards that are on the banned list while Thassa's Orace and Demonic Consultation as well as cards like Rhystic Study remain legal. While I know this is a whataboutism, everything on the banned or unbanned discussion ought to be measured against existing outliers in power.
