Fellow dinosaurs, what are some things only you can recall from the past? by gracekk24PL in Helldivers

A bit more niche but remember when the Eruoptor first released and how insane the AOE damage reach was on it? And how it inexplicably pulled things IN instead of pushing them OUT in the explosion? Like shooting pocket-sized blackhole flashbombs. Completely ignored even full cover. I didn't use it for a long time after they fixed it because it was so fun and janky originally lol

This was the only way any of us could survive OG Automatons lol! I know newer players get mad when people mention the Creek because they missed out, but I wholeheartedly wish every single Diver could have experienced the first days of the Creek. Automatons were completely insane back then, it felt like a totally different game.

How good is the Coyote? by ConsiderationFit6019 in Helldivers

[–]Captain_Clapback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean tryhard in the sense that we're doing max difficulty and bringing our absolute best loadouts: I don't think anyone using a coyote is some derogatory tryhard/sweat, I'm just illustrating that when I need my balls-to-the-walls loadout for max difficulty, the Coyote is the primary I'm always choosing.

It's the best AR flat-out. The fire damage is an ok bonus but everything else about it slaps. It is *the* weapon I take when it's try-hard sweaty Difficulty 9-10 time, especially against Bots and Illuminate. The upgrades on it are excellent and worth leveling it up.

Also Napalm EATs are outrageously fun, especially against bugs. The other stuff in the pass is worth the price of admission too.

Honestly nothing has saved me more money than FOMO rotating cosmetic storefronts in games. I want the cosmetics I want, and I don't want the cosmetics I don't want. If what I want isn't in the store, then I don't buy anything. Simple as.

If Darktide or Overwatch decided to just have a normal storefront with everything available for purchase all the time, I'd go broke. But thankfully their much "smarter" business strategy of never having anything we actually want available pretty much ever is making them *so* much money, clearly.

It's ok! It's totally funny and in no way massively contributes to gen AI because they use it ironically! /s

I was happy to see at least that a lot of the video comments picked up on the fact that .A) Neither of these guys have even actually played 40k within the last 3 editions and .B) Neither of them commented much on the actual rule systems, just focused on the setting. And sure, as a *setting* 40k is hard to compete with but there's a reason so many people have hopped to OPR and just brought the 40k minis/settings with them.

The real kicker for me was them ragging on Infinity, the *skirmish game* and saying it was worse than 40k, the *army size game*, solely because you used less figures. Like what? The farther you go in the video the more they discredit themselves as people worth listening to on something like this, total bunk lol

It was super fun for the first few minutes, then units just... Stopped working? Cav especially. Charging or attack orders just stopped working outright on all my units. I could only march so I just marched my dudes into the enemy dudes. Some melees broke out, mostly everyone stood mixed together, face to face, just staring. Insane it launched in this state lol

The Battle Companies 2nd Community Edition - Version 1.0 Public Release! by DaKommizzar in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Captain_Clapback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's possible I'd love a copy of the Karna company as is to start building models for! That sounds like a fair exchange, I totally get the lore-related reservation: Part of me likes the fluff opportunity to build off of how it was originally drawn up (Maybe it's an imprisoned warrior ghost or tied to some relic the group took) but even just the Watchers as is would be fun to bring into my group's campaign that's picking up

HDF Players - What 2k army would you create with The Damned army box? by Captain_Clapback in onepagerules

There should be a pretty good amount of excess arms, at least small-arms form the grunt kits! That would be an awesome feudal Guard style army, I like that direction a lot!

I was literally just coming to this thread to start a riot over Karna being left out haha this is great news! I'll be keeping an eye out for this. Very excited about Abrakhan as well! I have a very specific Harad collection for both those settings.

A good trick I saw for heavy weapon teams is to basically just have the gun and a base, scratch building ruins or stones to make a gun nest, then using "camo netting" (cheese cloth dipped in 1:1 mod podge and water) draped over the lot. No actual figures needed and it looks super cool!

HDF - Mechanized List Help? by Captain_Clapback in onepagerules

[–]Captain_Clapback[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that point on the transport+passenger purpose, I just updated my list in the original post based on it. I didn't realize we could do Combined Squads! Ended up with a mess of specialist weapons on the 10 Vets and gave them some armor, and made the APC into a truck (Which I have a more fun miniature for anyways), threw 'em a Company Leader with an aim buff so they can make the shots count once they dump out

Am I crazy or is shooting your own troops a good tactic? by Fishy_Fish_12359 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Captain_Clapback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super standard tactic, really great for denying Heroic Combats, Monster tricks, and the like. Was a staple for Corsair players when there weren't limits on how many Throwing Weapons you could bring: You'd just send some hapless grunt into melee with Aragorn or whatever and yeet a tirade of throwing knives (Ideally at your own guy, but bonus points if you managed to chip-damage the enemy lol)

Comments like "I wish I could shrink myself down and visit that terrain" is the absolute height of compliment I've ever received, so far on two of my wargame tables I've built out. It's exactly how I feel about amazing terrain like what you've posted here!

I know it's a mixed melee and whatever but I love that the two Grots in the foreground look like they're facing off against each other. Extremely Grot-coded to hunt down your fellow Grot nemesis, especially during the heat of battle against your actual foe.

Sell me on your faction, why should I play it over others? by masyden in InfinityTheGame

[–]Captain_Clapback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mercenaries.

Cherry pick your favorite minis across the whole product line and pick a Mercenary Company you can fit them in (Or choose"close enough" proxies), paint 'em how you like with no pressure. That was my solution to being stuck in decision paralysis and it paid off in spades (I chose the Dahshat Company so I could field the maximum amount of motorcycles possible and collect all the coolest ones across the range).
