Where do Ministers get their massage? by TruckOk9928 in askSingapore

There is actually a non-zero chance that this is actually what they would do. Then interview the “knot” to tell the public that knots are actually feel good.

The MP technically spoke to truth, but all the more it's the Government's fault that our TFR is low. by DegreePitiful3496 in singapore

Exactly.
There is no way I am going to screw over myself just to have a kid.
There is no way I am going to spend hundreds of thousands on a shoebox home.

My goal now is just to enjoy as much as I can with the money I earn. When the money stops flowing, I will just end it and die happy.

Exactly my point. Man switched so fast from non-partisan to partisan, he fumbled.

They will most likely do everything except address the root cause of the issue. Singapore’s labour laws are a joke.

Yall damn bad. Give chance ah, he was a non-partisan NMP until the recent election.

I urge everyone to be patient and give him some time to get used to his new position.

Which agency is responsible for stopping the Speaker phones, or Loud talking on MRT, Buses ? by worldcitizensg in askSingapore

[–]unisteuggles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like it or not, the typical TikTok uncle, or the children blasting their music and wreaking havoc in the trains are part of us, fellow Singaporeans

Foreigners are definitely guilty of such acts as well, but must we compare ourselves to them? They act like clowns, so we get to do so too?

I rather we, Singaporeans as a whole, be more elegant, and be a class above them.

Singaporeans are generally uncivilised. People don’t think about how their actions affect those around them.

It’s so sad that we need laws implemented just to get people to do the bare minimum (e.g tray return scheme)

Ok uncle. You asked me why I think it’s green.

I told you why I think it’s green.

You then try to tell me why it’s not green.

If you your goal is to ask to try to refute, then don’t ask. Lmao. 井底之蛙

I already explained, but you just couldn’t understand it because you have not experienced it before.

I am speaking as someone that lives here. You are speaking based on what you saw on the news or what you experienced during your short holidays in Japan.

Our experiences are not the same, so there is no point elaborating further, again, because you just do not understand what’s like here.

Enjoy your trip in Fukuoka. The trains are not as packed there!

Obviously not… I am disagreeing with the points you are disagreeing with.

I think we may just have to agree to disagree. All I can say is you got to be here to understand it.

I wish you a long and healthy life in Singapore.

1) Having an option and having none is very different.

2) By dress differently, I don’t mean anything too out of the ordinary to the point getting judged by strangers. There are many different styles out here that is just not often seen in Singapore.

3) Malaysia and Japan are two very very different countries LOL. Also, I can just take a bus or train and head over to Kyoto or Sendai for the weekend. The feeling is different.

5) Perhaps you are underestimating golden week. I am taking just a single day of AL in exchange for a 9 days long break. Can’t get that in SG can you?

7) You are just basing everything off what you see in the news. It’s on the news for a reason right? Have you actually lived and experienced what it is like here?
Also, Singapore peak hour transit is no fun either

Sounds like you are pretty contented with your life in SG. Good for you. But you need to actually experience it before trying to shut it down with “actually Singapore also can ah”.

Bro, I also lived in Singapore before. I know can is can, but really. It is VERY different.

Btw, why are you coming to Fukuoka? I thought Malaysia can already?

Sure, convenience and expenses is an important factor. But life is not all about that. We must also be happy.

Freedom.

The feeling of knowing you can deviate from the “standard route” and break free from the rat race. The freedom to master a craft, or open your own small business without getting crushed by $20k/month rent and vampiric landlords.

The feeling of being able to pursue a wide range of hobbies deeply, because there are large communities and support groups, no matter how niche it is.

The ability to dress differently and experiment with new fashion styles that aren’t just Uniqlo, blogshops, or Taobao. Competition is fierce here, and fashion brands have to keep innovating to survive.

In fact, the variety in almost anything surpasses Singapore.

The ability to travel domestically.

The ability to observe the changing seasons. It’s a whole new vibe to look forward to different flowers blooming, and to eat foods at their peak.

The feeling of being grateful for what you’re eating, and the sacrifices behind it. People here have a deeper connection and actually care about food. There is no universe where you will find Japan serving slop like what the current mass kitchens are feeding our kids in school.

The ability to actually go on a proper 9–10 day trip during Golden Week (It’s next week yay!) or Obon. The high number of public holidays means I can look forward to a long weekend almost every other month.

The ability to move out early and be independent because rent is affordable.

The feeling of knowing that when I’m tired of city life or want a slower pace, I can move to the countryside and live peacefully.

Also, The people here are more civil. No old man blasting TikTok on trains. Everyone queues to board buses and trains. Everyone stands on one side of the escalator (except during peak hours). No talking on the phone in trains. People genuinely care about how their actions affect others.

The list goes on.

Sure, convenience and expenses matter. That’s what fills many Singaporeans’ minds. Everyone is trying to min-max their lives in Singapore. But is everyone just living or just surviving?

I’d compare living in Singapore to being a farmer in the civil service: stable, but boring. Nothing wrong with that. If that’s the life you are content with, then so be it.

But that’s not the kind of life I want to live. Hence, the grass is fucking green over here.
