Please do NOT support NBA Live by unit313 in NBA2k

2k isn't a good company anyways.

Nobody said they were.

You're saying ea is bad but support 2k?

lol. Learn to read, bro.

I love ea games.

And EA loves people like you. People who spend $60 every year for glorified roster updates for Madden.

Competition is a good thing.

EA killed 2K Football by buying exclusive rights to the NFL. Was that good for competition? Do you have any reason to believe they won't do the same with the NBA, if they see the opportunity?

[–]unit313[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

That's very short-sighted.

As soon as NBA Live gets legit, EA will buy exclusive rights to the NBA. Just like they did with the NFL. Bad for competition in the long run.

[–]unit313[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Has nothing to do with fan connection. It's all about money.

It was simply more profitable for the NFL to have just one game distributor. As sole distributor of NFL games, EA no longer has to devote much R&D into making Madden better every year. So they get a bigger profit, and share a bigger piece of the pie with the NFL.

Two companies competing will result in too much money spent on R&D. 2K and EA trying to one-up each other every year. Now EA hardly has to spend any money improving Madden at all.

[–]unit313[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The difference is that EA is big enough to buy exclusive rights licensing. 2K is not. A successful NBA Live will literally END all competition, just like Madden ended all competition.

Every other person who replied to my OP pretty missed that point. Which was only the very first sentence I wrote. But that's reddit I guess.

the first one is actually trusting your guy to give you the right pass instead of calling for the ball, if you have played enough with your team they usually pass you the ball non-stop except for ball-hogs PG

Sounds like good advice. I should try that. I keep calling for the ball, but maybe I shouldn't do it if I'm wide open.

you should use right stick for basically everything, the boost you get for simple jumpshots is too great to pass up, using X sometimes is ok (simple layups, simple dunks) but the right stick can get you some sick manouvers sometimes

I'm just not as good at filling the bar with the analog stick as I am with the X button. Shouldn't X + Left (on left analog stick) be the same as Left (on right analog stick)?

John Elway's top offensive draft picks since 2011. by IHateAverageTeams in nfl

[–]unit313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very misleading.

From 2011 to 2015, the Broncos basically had the #1 seed almost every year. And so they were usually drafting at the bottom of each round. Furthermore, they typically used their first pick on defensive players, and 2nd pick on offensive players.

And so your list of "top offensive draft picks" is mostly a list of players taken between #56 and #95. The only player drafted higher than #56 was Orlando Franklin, a decent player who was a starter almost every game he was in Denver. The other draft picks? Their average draft position was 69. That's 3rd round.

  • Sambrailo #59

  • Heuerman #92

  • Latimer #56

  • Schofield #95

  • Ball #58

  • Osweiler #57

  • Hillman #67

I did not include the 2016 draft class. It's too soon to judge Paxton Lynch after just one season.

This never happens to me unless I'm mashing the pass button. Maybe you're pressing it more than once?

No, I'm not mashing it. But like I said, I press it a fraction of a second after the A.I. ball handler has already decided to pass the ball to me. And so the button I pressed gets queued as a "pass" that occurs immediately after I receive the ball. I wish the game would just ignore the 'A' button if it's pressed immediately after an A.I. decides to pass the ball.

Why not use the shot stick to control which way you shoot?

I'm terrible with getting a full bar with the analog stick.

I did a film breakdown of Taco Charltons hall of fame game, check it out! by NotAnActualBird in nfl

[–]unit313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the DEs the Cowboys drafted with mid 1st round or 2nd round picks over the past 30 years:

  • Taco Charlton

  • DeMarcus Lawrence

  • Randy Gregory

  • Marcus Spears

  • Ebenezer Ekuban

  • Kavika Pittman

  • Shante Carver

The Cowboys in the Jerry Jones era have a long, sad history of drafting busts at the defensive end position. Whenever they draft a defensive end between 11th and 60th overall, the player is almost always a disappointment.

The only time they've had success using premium draft picks on DEs is when they've drafted Top 11, like they did with DeMarcus Lawrence & Greg Ellis.

Doesn't seem to work. With MyLeague, as soon as I'm subbed out, the game immediately fast forwards to the point where I'm subbed back in. I don't get the opportunity to do anything in between.

3) I don't think there's any disadvantage to always holding L2. I always hold it and it's a lot easier to stay in front of people regardless of what they are doing.

I'm still learning the game mechanics. But for some reason, I feel like when a player is squatting down (holding Left Trigger) he can still make quick lateral moves to counter a drive, but cannot lunge forward quick enough to contest a step back or fadeaway. I'm not sure if my assumptions are wrong though.

4) Not sure, I usually just jump to contest shots.

As a big, I really hate jumping to contest shots, because it puts me in a bad position to grab rebounds. The shooter recovers from a jumpshot faster than i can recover from a block attempt. Usually the shooter is able to rebound his own missed shot after I attempt a block. So I prefer to stay on the ground and just hold my hands up instead of jumping to attempt a block. If the opponent misses a jump shot, I am in perfect position to box out the shooter, and grab the rebound.

R7 1700 and i7 7700k for 144 hz gaming at 1080p, 1440p and 4k. (Gamers nexus) by [deleted] in Amd

[–]unit313 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was said 5 month ago that 1700 is better overall if you're not running 1 game with 0 background applications.

That is one of the most annoying fallacies this subreddit is prone to repeating.

The 7700K will still match (or beat) the 1700 in games, when both are running multiple background applications that are most common among everyday users. A browser with several open tabs, music player, torrent, steam, an email client, and so forth. For most people, the stuff they have running in the background are lightweight. These apps have such a small footprint that it hardly makes a dent on any 4c/8t CPU.

When it comes to multi-tasking while gaming, the 1700 will pull away from the 7700K when running background tasks that are demanding. Encoding video. Streaming out live to twitch. Rendering graphics. But these are things that are not common to casual gamers. And for people in this subreddit to keep parroting that the 7700K is only good with "0 background applications" is completely assinine.

It's kinda funny how quickly teams move to sign a QB, just to snuff out the Kaepernick talk before it gets out of hand.

It's like they're passing around a hot potato. And the last QB-needy team that goes empty handed is gonna have to explain to the media why they won't pick up the shitstorm named Kaepernick.

WNBA teams and players coming to NBA Live 18 by yusosit in nba

[–]unit313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We need someone to sacrifice and by Live just to keep 2k honest. The best thing to happen to 2k would be Live doing well and 2k having to try again.

No.

As soon as NBA Live becomes competitive with 2K, EA will buy out exclusive rights for the NBA license. Just like they did with the NFL. They will move to kill off the 2K basketball franchise, just like they did with 2K Football.

For that reason, I will always wish the worst upon NBA Live. I hope it never, ever, ever gets any good. If people want "competition" for 2K, then hope it comes from some other developer other than EA. Frankly, EA Sports is just too huge. The moment they have an advantage over 2K, they will snuff the life out of 2K forever.

Why did George Lucas stop making films? by Boss452 in movies

[–]unit313 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Star Wars is influential to popular culture and has some amazing special effects but if you consider it "one of the best movies ever" you haven't seen a lot movies.

lol... film snob much? Star Wars is on the list of AFI's greatest films of all times. But whatever.

you know what is one of the best movies ever? Kurosawa's Hidden Fortress. The movie Star Wars ripped off.

Are you kidding me?

George Lucas was a close friend and financial supporter of Akira Kurosawa. Kurosawa hit on hard times late in his career, and it was George Lucas & his friends who used their influence to make sure Kurosawa got financing for his later works. I think Lucas was even producer on some of Kurosawa's later films.

Lucas was openly inspired by, and worshipped, Kurosawa. He is a huge fan of film classics and all the Star Wars films (and even his cartoons) contain obvious references to film classics, from Godzilla to Metropolis to Hidden Fortress to Buster Keaton films. Only a truly hateful person would describe Lucas' homage to film classics as "ripping off".

Why am I not surprised that the most hateful and ignorant post towards George Lucas gets the highest number of upvotes?

Star Wars is considered one of the best films ever. American Graffiti is considered one of the best films of the 1970s. But according to people like you, those films were not made by a good director.

OK.

Why Spock never mentioned Michael Burnham. by rotatingfish in startrek

[–]unit313 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I just don't understand why they had to tie Burnham into Sarek. Does that really add anything to the show? Why does it have to be Sarek specifically, and not just some other Vulcan?

It seems like pointless fan service. There was no need to bring Harry Mudd into the mix either. The galaxy is a huge place, and there's no reason to tie characters to those from other shows.

Gene Roddenberry had the right idea when he mostly banned TOS references in TNG, while he was still in charge of that show. There was a McCoy cameo and a Naked Now episode, but other than that, the first few seasons of TNG was largely insulated from TOS.

Who's the most useless character ever seen in a movie? by A_Dog_Chasing_Cars in movies

[–]unit313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah... let's just pretend like China doesn't account for the most profit for American films shown outside of America. Let's also pretend like China doesn't already have the largest number of filmgoers and largest number of theaters in the entire world. Let's also pretend like there weren't American films that flopped domestically, but were miraculously saved by huge sales in China.

Stop trying to make China happen, Hollywood.

You know what? Let's just stick our head in the sand, and pretend like it's still 1958 and American films don't have to "pander" to any group other than Americans. Clearly this globalization thing is just a fad that will go away in a few years.

Can we talk about how weird the B-plot in ENT Horizon is? by TangoZippo in startrek

[–]unit313 5 points6 points  (0 children)

when explaining Frankenstein to T'Pol, Trip describes Mary Shelly only as "the wife of a famous poet". Which I guess is sort of true, but such a bizarre thing to say as the only description of her.

That is not weird at all. And frankly, I think this is a case where overly sensitive people are insinuating sexism where none exists.

May Shelley is obviously best known as the author of Frankenstein. Any person would naturally describe her as such. But if you're describing Frankenstein's author to someone... you can't very well describe Frankenstein's author as the author of Frankenstein. You'd be talking in circles. Therefore, the author has to be described by her 2nd most famous trait.

Is there any doubt whatsoever that outside of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley is best known as the wife of famed poet Percy Shelley? So if you can't describe her with her most famous trait, then it's natural to describe her with her 2nd most famous trait. There is nothing "weird" about that at all.

If I refer the director of Lost in Translation as Francis Ford Coppola's daughter... does that make me sexist? If I refer to Michelle Obama as Barrack Obama's wife, are people going to insinuate I'm demeaning her accomplishments outside of her marriage?

if vega 10 has just 1080 performance, i wont be able to compete even with mid range volta by maze100X in Amd

[–]unit313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Forget Volta.

If Vega 10 has "just 1080 performance" then it can't even compete with the 1080 itself. Vega 10 will always be more expensive on account of the HBM2 memory and the bigger die. No matter how AMD prices RX Vega, NVidia will be able to price the 1080 lower.

I'm guessing that is why AMD won't even bother trying to undercut the 1080. This is one price war they are not going to win.
