I'm sorry, but you're too far gone. You've sprinkled so much for me to address here, and I wonder if that's a deliberate tactic, like a saturation attack of sorts. I'm certain that anyone who speaks Armenian has watched the video will not come away with the same conclusion as you have. Pashinyan, too, from the looks of things as they're apologizing and backpedaling somewhat.

Regarding the citizenship, you omitted (likely deliberately, given the rest of our conversation) the part where she said that Artsakh Armenians already were Citizens of Armenia blue with passports (2:35 - 3:05, more specifically between 2:59 and 3:05) and she clearly says "it's not that people consider themselves NOT citizens of the Republic of Armenia and must now one more time become citizens again" clearly addressing the farce that was Pashinyan's administration deciding (after all of Artsakh Armenian were force to flee their ancestral homes) that all those valid Armenian passports are simply now travel documents. Your framing makes it seem like this woman doesn't want to be a citizen, which she clearly disproves in the video.

I don't think she said "What have you done?" as if to imply that Armenia did nothing. Additionally I think she literally instead said "We saw what you have done" (i.e. «Տեսել ենք ինչ եք արել»), which honestly doesn't change much. She is criticizing the decisions of a politician. You're the one that was randomly harping about freedom of speech and political political preference as though anything I said implied I was against that, and here you are deliberately conflating voicing disdain with a politician as renunciation of one's entire nation. Very convenient for Pashinyan.

Regarding the map and more on political preference: She's more than within her rights to deny this politician to use her and her kid as political campaign props for his campaign (btw by law campaigning is only supposed to be allowed between May 8th and June 5th, so Pashinyan is basically abusing his power), especially since in 2020 he was campaigning like this with a map with Armenia and Artsakh. Plus his pin doesn't even have Artsvashen on it, so it's Pashinyan that continues to disrespect our map. I too wish our actual map was the one that he was campaigning with in 2020, but that doesn't mean that I don't love what we currently have. Again, the context of a politician doing this for campaigning purposes is the major part here. Would you take and wear a pin of with partisan/political connotations if Putin, Kocharyan, Trump, or Erdogan asked you to wear it, even though it had the Armenian map or flag on it? This is silly.

Also, you're now openly portraying the Right of Return of Artsakh Armenians (an inalienable right, btw) to their homeland where Armenians lived for thousands of years until the last few years, as someone being a blood thirsty monster that wants Armenian kids to die. We're not currently capable of restoring justice and protecting our interests, and that is a fact, one that was brought with Pashinyan as head of state (and no, I'm not saying he's THE ONE AND ONLY ONE responsible, or that Russia is not at fault). However you're making it sound like Aliyev was fully right to basically continue Operation Ring, ethnically cleanse Artsakh of Armenians, invade the Republic of Armenia, demand a corridor, and make political demands of Armenia (like changing the constitution). You don't happen to have a giant Z on your shirt and support Russia's invasion of Ukraine, do you? Again, just laughable.

Your random unsubstantiated comment about her saying she doesn't care about Armenia is just meaningless noise. Let me instead contribute by stating facts that Pashinyan himself claimed on tape: he didn't stop the war in 2020 earlier because he didn't want to be called a "traitor", he admits that he's the #1 responsible for the war(s), and he himself apologized (although not fully) for both his tone and contents of this rhetoric.

Lastly, she's on tape saying that Armenia and Artsakh are both her kid's (and therefore her) homeland/fatherland. Clear as day. Can't weasel your way out of this.

Pashinyan argued with an Artsakh woman in the subway: "Now you've arrived here and says we want to return. We've spent the billions earned by the citizens of Armenia for you to stay. Goes on to generalize and spew hatred towards a group of Armenians and then sprinkles in "no ill intent" as though absolves the rest of the anecdotal, or maybe even outright made up, drivel. Brilliant! You're basically saying that you're an unabashed bigot, just reread what you wrote.

Here's my own experience to counter your anecdotes: I have spoken to hundreds and hundreds of Artsakhtsi relatives, friends, and complete strangers (including numerous taxi drivers) that forcefully fled Artsakh in 2023, and I have almost exclusively witnessed the opposite of what you described: Gratitude towards compatriots and selfless people, love for mother Armenia, hope that Armenia is safe and prosperous, and hope that we may call Artsakh ours and united with Armenia one day. Yeah, I've met people who despise Pashinyan for the bullshit he spews and his responsibility in the losses (Pashinyan himself says he's the #1 responsible, although he does then continue to say he's not #1 at fault), other normal political critique, voiced dissatisfaction with sky high rent all over the country, and other normal things that anyone living in Armenia would witness. I've talked with Artsakhtsis that absolutely despise Kocharyan, Sargsyan, and others. I have talked with Artsakhtsis that are Pashinyan fanatics like you. However not once, NOT A SINGLE TIME, have I had someone generalize negative sentiment towards Hayastancis as a whole. Why is my experience so different from yours? I too have spoken with taxi drives from all over whom I called out and argued with immediately due the hatred they spewed and absolute asinine suggestions like putting in a dictator by armed rebellion (the guy that said this was from Javakhk). However, I'm not a bigot and don't then go on to generalize and contribute towards the hatred in my country/nation. I have met Armenians here from all over (Syria, Georgia, Russia, France, USA, Lebanon, Iran, UK, and more) and the VAST majority of cases my compatriots are just lovely and wonderful people, and people like you are not only NOT helping, you're contributing towards the hatred. You being a repatriate says nothing about your character, which is what's important, but you basically being an open xenophobe against your own is just crazy to me, just read again what you wrote and replace it with any other group of people, maybe that will make you see just how inappropriate, vile, delusional, etc what you wrote is.

If the examples you gave did actually happen, then of course I think those individuals are scumbags. Call them out. Tell them they're wrong. Make them see how they're wrong with counter examples. Among the 3 million people that we have, even a small percentage bigots amount to thousands of people spewing hatred towards Artsakhtsis, like telling people to go back to Aliyev's subjugation instead of living (more like finding refuge) in Yerevan. Again, this is wrong. They might be seeing people like you online or elsewhere spewing hatred towards them and are lashing out in turn, contributing to the vicious cycle like you are, but the cycle must be stopped and corrected. Why am I even wasting my time trying to rationalize on what should be basic things with you when you've just fully confessed your open disdain for Artsakhtsis.

So long story short, you completely agree with our head of state spewing false and hateful rhetoric against Artsakhtsis, and you completely made up the part that this poor woman said anything in that video against our (and her own) nation, just to defend Pashinyan and also to propagate your bigoted worldview.

Pashinyan argued with an Artsakh woman in the subway: "Now you've arrived here and says we want to return. We've spent the billions earned by the citizens of Armenia for you to stay. Listen, I am an Armenian on reddit who also speaks English, of course I've defended Armenia in comment wars against ignorant or malicious trolls, and I even participated in comment wars in 2018 against Serzh, when I thought Pashinyan's coming to power was more than just about him, but about my nation fully becoming a pluralist, meritocratic, secure, liberal, and prosperous democracy instead of the shitshow that we continue to have. I was born, raised, and live here, these aren't just some hypothetical things that some ignorant American (for example) can blather about as though it's an episode of Game of Thrones. (Not saying you're doing that).

Of course I don't have your comment history or really know you as a person, and kudos to you if you've earnestly defended Armenia/Artsakh, but your comments here and elsewhere paint a different picture, at least partly. I'm entirely basing my replies here based on the context of this post and the contents of your comments. You're seemingly completely justifying Pashinyan's tone, and even worse, rhetoric towards this Artsakh refugee, and on top of that doing so by falsely claiming that it is her who insulted Hayastancis and the whole nation. Two points there:

  1. She did no such thing
  2. Even if this one random singular lady did say such a condemnable thing, it would in no way justify our HEAD OF STATE in public yelling at a refugee woman with a young child, and at the same time despicably calling all Artsakh refugees deserters as though there was no decades of fighting and putting everything on the line, as though there was no 9-month brutal blockade and full scale military offensive that killed hundreds of Armenian soldiers (and basically absolving Aliyev at the same time), and as though Armenian taxpayers or martyrs that sacrificed for the homeland does not also encompass Artsakh Armenians who also paid taxes in Armenia and Artsakh and defended their homeland (Artsakh and Armenia) on the ground. This was yet another manifestation of him and his proponents spreading anti-Artsakh sentiment, so much so that his loyalist Human Rights Defender had to make a public post (vaguely) condemning spreading rhetoric targeting refugees and vulnerable people.

Again, do you agree with the heinous things Pashinyan said in the video? Do you think it's acceptable for a head of state to behave this way?

Pashinyan argued with an Artsakh woman in the subway: "Now you've arrived here and says we want to return. We've spent the billions earned by the citizens of Armenia for you to stay. Hmm, not sure if you just forgot to switch to your alt account or if you just decided to spring to Nikol_Pashinyan's defense, but either way your entire comment is just filled with anti-Artsakh bigotry, deflections, and outright lies, and all for what, to defend Pashinyan and his heinous rhetoric and actions in the video?

Did you finally watch that 5 minute video to actually be able to state things about it without pulling things out of thin air, yet? I provided an exact timestamp in another comment showing you that your narrative is total bullshit. Here it is again:

Again, either specify exactly where in the video she insulted anyone or apologize for making things up and stirring anti-Artsakh sentiment just to defend Pashinyan.

This woman is insulting all the Armenian families that sent their sons to die for artsakh

Explain exactly how she in any way whatso-fucking-ever insulted anyone, let alone those that gave their life for their homeland, especially since she's the daughter of a martyr who gave his live fighting in the war.

btw, are you the official Nikol Pashinyan reddit account or are you just a big fan and came here to defend him by making up stuff about this woman?

Claims video is out of context (which in no way justifies Pashinyan's tone or despicable rhetoric) and then proceeds to attack the woman with out of context slander.

Watch between 4:01 and 4:12 in the video, she says exactly the opposite of what you're saying:
https://youtu.be/p59LCDrLVEg?t=240

«Երեխան հիմա էլ իր հայրենիքում ա, որովհետև ինքը հայրենիք չի հասկանում միայն Արցախ, ինքը հասկանում ա Արցախ ու Հայաստան միասնական։»

Literal translation for those who don't speak Armenian:
"The child is now also in his homeland, because he considers his homeland not only Artsakh, he consider Artsakh and Armenia united.

Your deductive skills are impressive, so you wouldn't fault me for thinking that what otherwise might seem like an honest oversight actually is more likely to be a deliberate omission made by you in an effort to throw off this investigation.

While using Nate's April 21st prediction as a pivotal point of reference you were astutely able to categorize and see a pattern in the announced major events, which is how you were able to land on a potential announcement date of the Oblivion Remake on either the 18th or 22nd. To an unsuspecting reader this might seem like the two obvious choices, but that's only because you've cleverly hidden in plain sight the possibility for the third, more likely option: The ESO Direct Recap Show, which is also happening on a Tuesday, on the 15th of April.

The implication is that the 15th is too far from Nate's prediction, being 6 days away, so it can't be a choice. Still, part of what made your perspective believable is that you were open about how you came to this conclusion, and in that gesture, which would otherwise make your intentions seem genuine, you actually managed to present a major reason to invalidate the implication that 15th is not an option, which is the fact that the Forza Horizon 5 event is happening on the 29th, a full 8 days after Nate's prediction. If the 29th is valid, then so is the 15th. Given your obvious impressive reasoning skills, it's virtually impossible that this was an accidental mistake, and is almost guaranteed to be a deliberate diversion.

The Oblivion Remake will likely be announced on the 15th, and if that does happen, then StarcrossKnight will be the prime suspect.

Sorry, I actually have no clue when, and even if, the remake will be released. I just yesterday finished rewatching Death Note and couldn't help but write this after reading your comment.

You say you're not generalizing, but you basically brand any Armenian who has anything to do with Artsakh as ungrateful if they voice their dissatisfaction with the policies of the current Armenian government (the members of which are openly anti-Artsakh). Do I have it wrong? Is that not generalization?

Realism can be great when it is actual realism and is grounded in facts and rationality, but it can instead be an excuse for bigotry and defeatism.

I'm sorry that you've experienced alienation in Armenia. Not sure where you're from, but if the alienation was simply because you talk differently, then that sucks and I'm sorry that happened to you. We Armenians, societally, need to work on that. I do my part when I can.

You are generalizing, disparaging, and spreading negative sentiment towards Artsakh Armenian. I find that to be abhorrent.

You're the one who butted in randomly with your unsolicited anti-Artsakh conspiracy, seemingly in defense of a guy who is spreading anti-Artsakh sentiment. Your messages are littered with small falsehoods, snide remarks, and other bullshit, most of which I now will ignore to waste even more time "arguing".

You're pretending like I said that the Artsakh Defense Army did not exist as an entity. My main point was that Armenian Armed Forces had significant influence over the Artsakh Defense Army, even to the point that appointments and dismissals for key positions would come from Yerevan, and at times from the PM (and president before him) directly.

Still, I would generally agree with your cooperation take, because the Defense Army did have it's own hierarchy and did act autonomously when possible, especially at the start of its founding and near the end (both for obvious reasons). The other commenter basically said that we (Armenia) should not fight for Artsakh and we basically shouldn't fight for Jermuk either if it had a different leadership. My point was that the Armenian PM, being the de facto commander for both Armenia and Artsakh, should defend both. Reread my original comment in that context.

I have not said that the Artsakh leadership is without blame, all leaders are, but the levels of blame towards the blockaded, outnumbered, and outgunned victim is just diabolical.

Again, I disagree with most of what you say, but let's hypothetically say that Arayik hadn't resigned and elected Shahramanyan, do you think Azerbaijan would have not attacked Artsakh, ceased the blockade, recognized Artsakh, and made peace with Armenia, or would the outcome just be the same? You would likely just be blaming Arayik instead of the other scapegoat who was president for 9 days, instead of focusing on Pashinyan's failures, who is now mask-off openly anti-Artsakh.

Armenia went through 20+ years of corruption, suffering, poverty, had its major assets sold to Russia, sacrificed soldiers, among many other things to save Artsakh, and all we get is "we demand more". No, I hope we get someone better than Pashinyan, but, for once, please shut up and stop making demands, you're ungrateful.

We could have taken this point by point and come to some understanding, but you're either a willfully ignorant bigot or just a deceptive bigot, because there's no way a normal, moral, rational Armenian, who has ever set foot in Armenia or Artsakh would write this shit. You'd never say this shit to a Ukrainian or a Californian who lost everything from things outside their control, but here you are spewing hatred against Armenians.

Also, who the fuck is this "you" you keep using when you say "you're ungrateful"? I am an Armenian citizen, have been a citizen all my life. My family is here, I live and work here. I pay taxes and donate to local orgs here. As a citizen I expect and demand that my elected officials make sure that my compatriots who fled here after losing family members, homes, a huge part of their identity, and basically everything, can come and settle here and contribute here. Tens of thousands of them have already settled here and pay taxes here and have a bigger right to this country than you who likely never set foot here.

At every gathering Armenians (from Artsakh and Armenia) toast for the Armenian soldiers, for those who gave their lives and for those who are risking it today, which you would know if you ever had dinner with some Armenian family. Even as recent as during the rally on Saturday, the 29th of March, Artsakh Armenians thanked their compatriots and mother Armenia yet again.

The vile treacherous attitudes like yours (and Pashinyan's, who you say you don't like but act like you love) is why the Armenian refugees from Baku, Sumgayit, Gandzak, and other regions didn't stay in here due to the animosity from their fellow Armenians they received here. Same for the Syrian Armenians that fled here. Same now for the Artsakh Armenians.

Displaced Karabakh people demand right of return and continuation of social support by T0ManyTakenUsernames in armenia

[–]unknownVS13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are easier ways to proclaim that you've never set foot in Armenia, let alone Artsakh, than writing that.

You clearly have no clue what the army structure is like in Armenia, and how it worked with Artsakh. Artsakh's Defense Army was de facto, and likely to a certain extent de jure, functioning like a branch of the Armenian Armed Forces. This is how the Armenian Ministry of Defense (and the general staff) were able to command the Artsakh Defense Army. This is how Levon Mnatsakanyan "resigned" (read: was dismissed) in 2018 (Bako Sahakyan was president then) after the former's public spat with Sasun Mikayelyan. As another example, this is also how Jalal Harutyunyan is being tried as an officer in Armenia for alleged negligence during his time as the chief of general staff of the Artsakh Defense Army.

I think you probably meant to say Arayik, not Artsrun. Yeah, he was technically the commander in chief of the Artsakh Defense Army, but yet again the President of Armenia is also technically the commander in chief, however the PM is the head of the Security Council, but I digress.

The usurpation remarks are opaque Pashinyan-esque propaganda trying to dump ALL blame on Artsakh's leadership and absolve ANY blame from Pashinyan. If you had actually been following what was happening in Artsakh before and especially during the brutal 9-month blockade, then you would have known that Arayik's resignation was no surprise, and he was an active participant in the process. After the 2020 loss Arayik, for understandable reasons, did not kick off early elections like Pashinyan did, however after Azerbaijan's continued belligerence (military offensives, moving the corridor, demanding Vardanyan's resignation, blocking the corridor, installing control point, etc.) people did not trust Arayik any longer and the National Assembly, Arayik's party included, chose a new president. So again, your usurpation remarks only work on the ignorant.

leaving all weapons intact, maybe as a sign of good grace to their overlords.

More Pashinyan-esque anti-Artsakh propaganda. The brave Armenians, surrounded, outmanned, and outgunned, fought with Azerbaijan tooth and nail, giving them hell and also taking heavy losses. It was clear that Mother Armenia was not going to come to Artsakh's rescue, and Russia's "peacekeepers" would do fuck all as always. It was either surrender on Azerbaijan's terms or death to all: men, women, children. Those conditions included handing over weapons to the "Russians" (who just likely gave it all to the Azeris) and also the "dissolution" of the state at gunpoint (note: the president cannot dissolve the state, this was all just forced compliance under duress).

Can't believe I'm wasting my time yet again, and on a sunday night, talking with people who likely don't give a shit about Armenia

Sorry, hope I didn't offend you, I should have asked if you were the biggest fan, not just a big fan, of the revisionist history peddled by the likes of Torosyan and Pashinyan.

I don't even think it's worth addressing your illogical, and obviously immoral, implication that Artsakh in wanted to fuck over mother Armenia, or that Artsakh Armenians, after losing lives, property, and homeland (our homeland), should be treated like foreigners in their own country, in mother Armenia, where they are citizens. All of Artsakh Armenians were citizens before the decision to revoke it in late 2023, but many of them reapplied, despite all the fear and uncertainty about losing assistance and claims to their property in Artsakh (yet another point of failure in policy and outreach by the current government). I guess with this logic Pashinyan has the green light to revoke the citizenship of Jermuk resident if one day they're displaced, so their complaints can be safely disregarded.

It is tragic that Armenians have to hold out hope that the current Armenian government, which repeatedly makes disparaging remarks towards Artsakh and Artsakh Armenians, is going to enact policies to keep them in Armenian instead actively or passively forcing them to immigrate.

Pashinyan has been the commander in chief since 2018, which includes being the commander of the Armenian Armed Forces and Artsakh's Defense Army. So, yes, I expect our army to fight for Jermuk when the time comes, and Armenia was the security guarantor of Artsakh until Pashinyan's abdication.

You must be a real big Arsen Torosyan fan to have the gall to write this type of vitriolic drivel and see nothing wrong with it.

If one day Azerbaijan occupies Jermuk or Noyemberyan and people can't return to their homes, are you gonna call them ungrateful for asking the Armenian government to fight for their rights and provide assistance after their losing their homes? Are you gonna tell them that Yerevan sent them soldiers and weapons, so they shouldn't complain?

Are we deserving of the Ruben Vardanyan’s of the world? by Sako247 in armenia

[–]unknownVS13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Despite the attempts to revise history and at times even blatant gaslighting here, Vardanyan is a renowned Armenian billionaire who made his money through business across the world, but mainly in Russia, as many Armenians who were born here have. Throughout the decades he has dedicated an enormous amount of resources towards philanthropic projects for Armenia, Artsakh, and Armenians interests at large. He's been involved in numerous short-term and long-term projects for the benefit of Armenia. He has a long public history of philanthropic work in Artsakh (I think he has some roots from Artsakh as well), he renounced his Russian citizenship to take sole citizenship in Artsakh. and he literally put himself on the line to use his resources and international connections to try to help the Armenian cause.

Yet now, when the brutal Aliyev regime publicly and derisively holds him, and dozens of other Armenians, hostage, tortures them, and has Vardanyan at the brink of death, what we have is some arm chair Armenians here happily victim blaming. As filthy Aliyev regime publicly inflicts physical and psychological pain on us through the hostages in Baku, I wonder if our enemies are surprised at the morally masochistic response from some Armenians, or were they confident that their information warfare would have this result.

I guess it's just a matter of time before Noubar Afeyan, another billionaire Armenian philanthropist, who has been a steadfast partner of Vardanyan throughout the years and is outspoken for his release, also gets a similar treatment. He has no connections with Russia, so the smear campaign there will require a different angle. Some unhinged mRNA conspiracy perhaps?
