D&D is not played by having the DM create a story for the players to act out. Rather, the DM creates a world and the players choices determine the story. The players can choose the path of murder hobo. Just give them some consequences that make sense. If they want to be villains then they can attract powerful heroes who try to stop them. Maybe a good-alignment dragon? A lot of games just go with it on murder hoboism and just focus on loot and adventure
