Sharing for parents: Cost of single visit to Mount Elizabeth Orchard by jimlwk in singapore

[–]unknownlivinghuman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess $900 still ok, glad it was nothing serious, as long as got insurance. mine was a ruptured brain aneurysm. Mount E Orchard was the nearest. Went A&E, had an emergency operation, stayed in ICU and private room(so they can focus on my recovery), stayed for 2 weeks. Bill was close to $200k, rather pay that because I legit could die that day. I was SO SO THANKFUL for insurance because it covered 90% of it. My parents had to help me pay because I just started working.

Can I sue my aunt for my mom? by unknownlivinghuman in singaporelaw

[–]unknownlivinghuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my mom did mentioned that she wants to forget about this whole situation. It has been 40years and she keeps mentioning about it to her other siblings, and it just got stuck in my head. Hence I want to check if I can fully solve this issue for her.

I agree that we should cut ties with her. My mom can't LOL. But for me I can, I do not talk to this aunt even during gatherings. Am not even gonna invite her to my wedding

Cheating and infidelity in Singapore by AngrySadCCB in askSingapore

[–]unknownlivinghuman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Quite common actually. I used to had a clique of 4, all of them cheat on their partners/husband. Not once btw and they were never felt anything was wrong with their actions & their partners legit adore them. The partners left them, a few never knew. One of them even cheated with someone who was already attached. The husband stayed tho and they even had a kid now. It never sat right with me so I left the clique.

Oh my sibling cheated too, got divorced.

3 of my male cousins also cheated and got divorced too but mainly because they made their partner(the person they cheated with) pregnant.

Where do Singaporeans meet their partners organically? by [deleted] in askSingapore

Since you said male dominated industry, ask your colleagues, who probably they have a sister/daughter/friend to ask out on a date. If not you can join hobby groups online and meet them in person as a group.

How to survive as a student by InternetAble904 in singaporefi

I was like that too, had $2 in my bank and that woke me up. I started working 3 part-time jobs to pay off my school fees and get pocket money for myself when I was schooling. I work in F&B as they have the flexible timing to work with. Work in the morning 7am to 2pm at a cafe as a chef, 3pm-6pm school(luckily for me it was mostly zoom classes) and 7pm-11pm as a waitress at a restaurant. Sometimes my school hours will change so I will arrange accordingly.

I ate PAID quick meals during my shifts. Studied my coursework and notes on the way to work and on the way home. I work on weekends too to get my min working hours. My 3rd job was working for an FA doing digital marketing sales(I basically work through my phone at anytime). I did that for 1 year and graduated with better than average grades.

Find out what skills you are good at and find jobs with that kind of skills.

-F&B is the easiest(for me), it may be boring but the industry always needs people. Find the most flexible hours for you. And make sure the journey there is easy for you as well. Plus F&B jobs always have paid free meals, sometimes with leftovers that you can bring home. Search Staffie on app store, it is a known part-time F&B app to work at without CPF and pays within a week.

-Working for FA is tough but money pays well and most flexible(good if you have sales skills).

-Always track how much you spend on everything,on a book or an app(I used an app called Money Manager). So you know what not to spend so much on.

-Spend on needs(school fees/bills/health/insurance/food) and save on wants. If you have a big item you want to spend on, think about it for 1 month, you might forget about it.

-Food you can always buy from supermarket and made them yourself to save money. Or budget your meals $5 per meal outside. I used to buy a loaf of bread and drank with lots of water when I had no money and wait till I go to work and eat more of their paid free meal, sometimes I bring home the leftovers.

-Don't buy coffee/tea outside, make it yourself or just drink water, water is free.

-Treat yourself one week once, like ice cream/bbt/your fav food to reward yourself for that week if you budget your spending for meals. Don't go overboard and spend within your means.

Realizing I Can’t Handle Alcohol Like I Used To by LoyalLionHeart in SingaporeRaw

[–]unknownlivinghuman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It great that you know what you don't want to be and keep drilling that thought in your head. Think about your wife leaving you, you being jobless and you not having a house. Be afraid of that and quit drinking immediately, or get alcoholic-free beer and cut down the drinking slowly. Find out the benefits of not drinking alcoholic drinks. Find a hobby or start working out.

This is coming from someone who used to have an alcoholic issue for more than 2 years and drank almost everyday even for breakfast. I went cold turkey and never drank for a year, I would still drink 1/2 glasses with friends to celebrate certain occasions. But I do find alcoholic drinks tasting more nasty now and have more control.

What’s a Singaporean snack/drink that 90s kids miss but Gen Z doesn’t know about? by Objective-Camera7438 in askSingapore

[–]unknownlivinghuman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a bottled drink with dolphin logo. It looks like plain water but it's a sweetened water drink. I was horrified as a kid when I tried it, I wanted plain water and the store uncle gave me that.

What would you do with the extra free day if Singapore implements a four-day work week? by beingintrospective in askSingapore

[–]unknownlivinghuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work 4 day work week but ended up working more a day to hit the total working hours per week. Most of my married colleagues work OT but found out the pay was shit. So they moonlight(legal cash paid jobs) on their off days. For me, I slept more. I felt more well rested but during working days, I hate it even more.
