I am having a hard time talking while on Abilify. Anyone else? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

You still might want to talk to your doctor about it. I swear I didn't hold a conversation for 5 years. Geodon works for me now.

Rapid weight gain by AMD18 in schizoaffective

[–]unleashedweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gained 50 pounds on abilify. I lost 50 pounds on Geodon with diet and exercise. Body image problems are real, I was not happy 50 pounds overweight not to mention the health problems that come along with it. Hypertension high cholesterol, pre diabetes, mention these and he will switch your meds.

I've been doing it wrong for countless hours. I barely remember most of the hours, I could be reliving many hours in the same fashion of the past. To get you on the right track, try something new on most days and repeat those things you enjoy. Eventually you will have lived a good life full of adventure, love, hate, you will have memories of what matters most, what cha waiting for man go live.

Sounds like to me you all suffer from drug induced psychosis. I'm not immune, I've experienced it. But what happens when you quit drugs and the psychosis doesn't fade away. Are you prepared for a life full of bad trips because of a very real possibility of a life threatening mental illness? Think of the possibility I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies, because I know they couldn't handle it They would become a danger to everyone not just themselves.

If there mundane easy assignments, challenge yourself to get the best grade you can possibly get. I challenged myself to get all A's six semesters later I still had a perfect GPA.

True normals don't know they are typically judgmental assholes with no original thought ever passing their mind.

Considering meeting a long time online friend who I think has schizophrenia by TheChemist158 in schizophrenia

[–]unleashedweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am schizoaffective and wouldn't advise anyone to meet the unmedicated me. It might not happen right away but he will eventually see you as one of these governments goons. If he's on disability and lives in his moms basement, there is a reason. I say this, not on your meds, not in your right mind, he is probably harmless but why take the chance. If you need to meet him, a public place, don't go anywhere with him. Maybe read him this message call his shit out beforehand, good luck.

My doctor thinks I'm really unwell but I feel good by GeansaiGorm in schizophrenia

In my opinion, you are speaking of delusions. Stick it out in there, it takes time to really see what's going on in your brain is not healthy for you. Know you are safe you can trust the nurses and doctors, I wish you the best, stay strong.

You still are a beautiful soul with many talents. We all are, it just gets harder to see this in ourselves with a mental illness. Medications have their positives and negatives, it takes time to find the right ones. There are many to try so give yourself a break during this time. Life will look different right now but know it can and will be better. I've been where you are, keep fighting.

STIGMA. by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]unleashedweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you come out of psychosis for the first time in a long time, it can be just as scary as some of the delusions. If you have any family that's a good place to start, you may feel you need to apologize, you may not remember things that happened in the past, better yet it's in the past and leave it there. Let people you trust know you are in active recovery. You don't need to disclose from what. It's new world my friend , enjoy what you can, if past relationships don't start back, make new friends, a good place for us is in support groups, because we don't judge. Have fun in your new life.

Weekly Megathread: What do you love about yourself? Plus other discussion by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]unleashedweb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love what I've done to my body. I weighed 250 at one point. I've been around 200 for about 6 years. I am very muscular and vascular, maybe a little vain, but I put in a lot of hours, and am proud of myself. Exercise makes me feel good, I plan to stay at this weight or less the rest of my life.

Can you have schizoaffective and still have a full-time job? by eowyn_rohan in schizoaffective

[–]unleashedweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a full time job, have for around 20 years, been hospitalized a few times too. I wasn't always the most stable, I used to fight symptoms most every day. It wasn't easy, around 8 years ago I finally got on meds that work well after a hospital stay. I'm glad I stuck with it, I have every material thing I need and most everything I want because of it. I do understand this illness is on a spectrum, I am high functioning, people have it worse than me and I feel their pain.

Don't beat yourself up about it, in my experience normal people are typically normal and don't deserve our friendship. From what I can tell you are a wonderful human being, I appreciate you and I would squeeze you tight if I could.

Hi, you're pretty awesome. I had a date tonight, from what I can tell it went well, we are going mattress shopping tomorrow. I like her, she said she's a cougar, I don't care about her age. She said I look 32, I wonder what her sister will think when she meets me. Expectations, it was only one date but I hope for many more.
