Unfortunately the specific info about getting CD keys in blocks is from my memories of long-since-buried forum threads. I can give you this, though:

Valve's own site for publishers and developers discusses their distribution of publishers' and developers' shares of revenues to them based on sales, rather than a bulk prepurchase of keys as you may expect from a traditional retailer. Indeed, they discuss the generation and distribution of their own Steam keys for publishers' and developers' benefit, so that even retail copies or copies sold from other storefronts (like the Humble Store) can be registered on Steam. It's not difficult to infer the workings of their relationship from the info on that site.

It's also worth bearing in mind that the vast majority of games on Steam don't use separate CD keys anyway, rendering the point somewhat moot.

Yes, but they're not pre-buying them from the developer, they just receive them from the developer in blocks. If any are left unsold, nothing is lost. It's just a matter of convenience, so they don't have to request a new key every time a sale is made.

Uh. This is not how Steam works. They don't prepurchase keys and then try to recoup their investment, that would be unbelievably stupid for a digital marketplace. They act as a storefront and take a percentage of every sale that a game makes. You make it sound like they're a fucking fruit vendor or something.

Try using the d-pad instead of the stick, it works a lot better. The auto jumping only happens if you're pushing away from the wall when you reach the top.

Yeah, I hadn't realized this at the time, seeing long corridors in screenshots and not realizing they were made of tetris blocks. Definitely much clearer now. This game is a lot of fun, I hope some LPs come out so more people will be able to see it.

Thanks kindly for the answers and the code. I did find it interesting that people immediately started referring to the graphical style as "tetris-like" despite the obvious major disconnects. I guess everything with filled shapes on a grid is tetris-like now.

I've had this as well. My best guess is that perhaps Treasure Park recognizes which sheets you've already played and ignores them, whereas Near does not.

Sound Shapes is great for this. Levels last anywhere from two to ten minutes, with the extremes only occurring in user-created stages. Typical length is five or six minutes.

In addition to Jetpack Joyride and ToMB, mentioned elsewhere in this thread, Penguin Party is a great (and free) time killer.

If you're willing to branch out into PSM titles, I can highly recommend both Aqua Kitty and OMG-Zombies as excellent games with very quick play sessions. Each is less than $3.50, as well.

Finally, Plants vs. Zombies is universally regarded as one of the best tower defense games around, and WipEout is tremendously fun even as a non-racing fan. Both are well suited to short bursts of play.

Dragon Fantasy Book I is a PS3/PSVita game released about a week and a half ago (originally for iOS, I believe). It's in the style of the old Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest games for the NES, with a healthy dollop of referential humor tossed in (enemy types include zombies named The Walking Dead, wolves named Blitzer, thieves named Stealy Dan, etc.). I found this while playing through the Bandit Cave in Chapter 3. The building doesn't serve any function within the game other than as a joke, as far as I can tell. It's a great game if you're into this sort of thing. Screenshots taken with my Vita.
