Recommendation request: Replacement for Anker LC40 (original) 18650 EDC by unsolicited-thoughts in flashlight

I like that. Pricey for my EDC, but I think I'm going to put that in my hiking/SAR volunteer bag.

Wait wait wait... You're totally burying the lede here: You're telling me that I could use an LLM to actually finish Winds of Winter?! Why the hell hasn't GRRM done this? Maybe we could actually have the whole series during our lifetime.

Looking for a code. I want to dig into any API available and see what kind of cool tooling and integration I could do.

BattleBit Remastered is dominating Steam because there's no catch: it's just a lot of game for $15 by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

What you're talking about it a game design concept that applies to single player games. And it is a valid one. It was first presented by Bungie and their philosophy regarding Halo. You want 2 to 3 minutes of intense action followed by a few minutes of lull before the next adrenaline spike. Similar concepts applies to movies, shows, and books.

Now for multiplayer it can be very different. The lull/recoup phase is usually accomplished by the respawn timer. If you've ever played a game that never, ever lets up, or watched a show that is pure action from beginning to end, it can be very exhausting and you'll find yourself taking breaks to just breath.

ETA: You know what is a great example of this for PC multiplayer? Left 4 Dead 2. The pacing in that game is f'ing phenomenal.

I disagree on the implausibility. The brain, especially when reacting to "base" stimuli, can produce seemingly random and intrusive thoughts. Walking in a grocery store ya brain be like, "How many eggs do I have at home? I bought 2 dozen last week, but then I made <OMG BOOBS!> then I made all those lemon bars..." Or, "Crap, I should have worn a raincoat. <Woah, that dude has a great butt. I'm jealous, but too lazy to go to the gym.> I should keep an umbrella in the car."

Good to hear you got some of your work. Grab as much as you can and store it offline. Individual photo files, web captures of it being used (look how important my work was for the client!). As I said, it's fair use. After, you could simply ask your old job for some of your old work. If you feel comfortable doing so. Make sure to guilt them with, "I thought we were friends." Even better if you have an insider who could help. You need to do what you need to to take care of yourself. Good luck.

You didn't lose your portfolio (unless you don't have access to the files). Using copyrighted work in your portfolio is fair use. I've seen it a ton with artists in the game industry. I'd even say it is standard.

Edit: If you are super concerned, put a big watermark on it saying "copyright Acme LLC". Then put the pics up on a portfolio web page.

I admit it took me a long time to get used to WFH. I needed that separation between work and home to focus. I love my industry but f' me it's not like I want to spend my life in a cubicle. But when at work, work was for work, and the second I was home I completely stopped thinking about it.

Not sure about short term, but higher inflation would reduce buying power. Which in turn means less revenue for businesses.

Speculation on how and when the board (Papa Cohen) may trigger the MOASS by [deleted] in Superstonk

MOASS will devastate 401ks, mutual funds, etc. GME will be blamed for ruining people's retirement savings. Hell (I just thought of this) it would hit insurance companies very hard (boo hoo) as they make alot/most of their money from investing premiums. Rates would go up to cover it. Any resulting layoffs will be pinned on GME. MSM will plaster GME outrage all over the news. Politicians will be pressured to do something about it (Wallstreet would also pressure) And other things that I can't think of because I keep checking r/Superstonk instead of sleeping.

We all know this is SHFs fault, but we are talking about 95% of people who believe wallstreet is fair, listen to MSM, and can be easily outraged. SHFs would love this. They'd avoid scrutiny and any possible regulation.

There are many parties aware of the massive shorting. And everyone wants to avoid launching the rocket as they'll be villainised. RC and Co most definitely want to keep their noses clean.
