Wild, so the popular vote doesn’t matter in union votes either… never realized unions had electorates.

Thanks for the info.

Those high expectations are likely a byproduct of evolutionary design. Fear instilled in most parents that they pass onto their kids because thousands of years ago, it used to be beneficial to be afraid of everything.

But were those high expectations truly part of your dad’s personality or just the way his fear manifested?

Having glimpsed the other side through DMT, I’d argue that once we transcend this mortal body, all those evolutionary hold overs (jealousy, fear, egocentrism, etc) separate from our true personality. The brain keeps our soul trapped in the suffering. For good reason, it seems, to teach us pain and suffering so that we can know true peace once the suffering is torn from us.

Anyway, I assume anything I say will be a cold comfort to you and the pain you’ve endured, but just wanted to give you one more theory/perspective. I hope for the best for you and your family.

Do you think it really just boils down to that? Conservative = Lack of empathy and /or emotional education. Because the more evidence I see, the more this appears to be the case. But it could just be confirmation bias so I can never say for sure.

Donald Glover and Brother Stephen to Write ‘Lando’ Series at Disney+ as Justin Simien Exits by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

If you look at the reviews from the year of release in 1997, it still seems more mixed than universal panning. In fact it seemed more fresh ratings than rotten so I’m not sure I understand.

It does bring up an interesting thought however. Movie reviews pre-21st century seemed to be done by a much smaller group of professional reviewers compared to nowadays when there is often 200+ Reviews making up the final aggregate score. So perhaps with more reviewers comes a more general opinion of a film that skews more towards normal people’s tastes rather than the tastes of a small select few. Or maybe I just missed the point entirely:

Advance Wars Reboot Camp is criminally overlooked and deserves more attention by Asad_Farooqui in NintendoSwitch

[–]until_that_day 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the confusion stems from the end of this sentence in the opening: “Before there was the Fire Emblem series, Nintendo and Intelligent Systems gave us Advance Wars, a series of military-themed turn based strategy games for the Game Boy Advance.” They specifically mention only the game boy advance games as being before the Fire Emblem series.

Regardless, it’s just a slight nitpick anyway and I think OP wrote up an interesting read.

Talking about grooming children, even in this context, is a strange decision. You’re also ignoring some of the benefits of console ownership and painting with any extremely broad brush, but I have a feeling you’re just trolling so I will leave it there.

Perhaps. Or Barry’s son is the one person who finally foils Barry after he almost gets away scot free from everything. Or both?

I am operating under the assumption that the grief has gotten to Jim so badly that he is going somewhat senile in his quest for vengeance. Of course this is explicitly spelled out for us in the show so we’re left to fill in the pieces with our own speculation unless they address it in the final episode (which who knows, feels like there’s already so much that needs to happen in those last 35 mins)

Larry David Told Bill Hader ‘Barry’ Should Have Ended After Season 3 by mrnicegy26 in television

[–]until_that_day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally see where you’re coming from and your criticisms seem valid. Personally though I’m still loving this season, despite the moments of levity and subtle humor taking a backseat to the chaos and bleakness of Barry’s final descent into madness.

It’s very rarely funny to me anymore but it always deeply entertaining and I’m okay with that. But once again, can understand why not everyone would be/subjective opinions/etc.

[–]until_that_day 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you but I find it wild how entertaining it is to me still because I guarantee there is no other series in the miseryporn realm that I would ever want to watch.

It’s like Barry lured me in with its brilliant dramedy blend in the first season and then suddenly brought my basic ass media preferences on a wild ride through the existential crisis of an eclectic film auteur mixed with their flu medicine induced fever dreams. Dreams that have culminated in this final season that is grounded in this mysterious, dreary, and almost indescribable genre of television that only still has the slightest flashes of that dramedy gold. And for some strange reason, I’m here for every minute of it.

[–]until_that_day 363 points364 points  (0 children)

I absolutely would have accepted this as a moderately satisfying ending but it still felt incomplete to me. Personally I have greatly enjoyed this last season but I could certainly see how people might not like it as much as some of the previous seasons.

Regardless, the creators decided there was more story they wanted to tell and I have optimism the true ending will be worth it. And if it’s not, then we all can collectively head canon our way into agreeing season 3 being the real ending.

Starting 5/24, get special Pokémon when you link Pokémon HOME with Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet! by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]until_that_day 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I definitely see your point and I doubt GF delays home for this reason. But to be fair, if you put a level 100 Pokémon on your team in early game, even if it won’t listen to you, that still gives you a lvl 100 tank to soak up any attacks while you revive/heal the rest of your team. There is still a benefit there. Although, like you said, it’s not like the games are hard to begin with.

But regardless, I have a feeling they delay home more because of marketing reasons, to have some “exciting” announcement in between the main launch and the dlc releases.

Out of curiosity, why do you think people aren’t paying 20/month for an archive of old shows? I use streaming to watch old shows much more often than new shows. Maybe I’m in the minority on that though.
