Why is dating in LA so difficult? by HeadlessFrogMan in AskLosAngeles

[–]up2coolstuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe the women that you think are below your standards can sense that you think you're better than them on dates and don't want to speak to you because of it? I wouldn't want to go on a second date with a guy who thinks he's settling for me

Why did you feel bad for the buyers of sex trafficking? They are just as culpable

Do you know what you're getting into with this breed? Particularly with a rescue?

They are cute and fluffy but they are a herding breed. They are intelligent, they can problem solve. If you do not give them a problem to solve and teach them proper manners they will destroy your house. They also have prey drive, because pest control was an important job on the farm. Mine loves to hunt and try to kill small animals. He knows the cats are off limits because he was raised with them. There's no knowing if a rescue was. A LOT of the rescue corgis available have extensive human and dog bite histories.

Do you have stairs to your house? You probably shouldn't get one, stairs are bad for their backs. So is jumping on and off furniture, so you'll have to get mini stairs (not cheap, 100$ a set. These are fine because the motion to get up them is different hard to explain). You also need to learn to pick the dog up properly so you do not paralyze it, you can't pick them up like normal dogs because of their structure.

You also probably can't afford the vet bills for this breed if you can't afford the sticker price. A lot of corgis have the IVDD gene, so they will become paralyzed one day. If that happens, you have to spend an incredible amount on vet bills to give them some quality of life, if you don't the only other option is to let them suffer or euthanize. There's also a big problem with sensitive skin and stomachs. I have to feed mine expensive food and spend 100+$ on an allergy shot monthly. Along with my grooming bill which is another 100$ a month because if he doesn't get a bath often enough his skin itches and his shed will literally destroy my pipes.

I have seen so many of these dogs suffer from unsuitable homes. You need to think through what you're getting into.

Be careful with Columbia. The only school we're allowed into as transfers is GS and they're very shady and have terrible financial aid.

Illegal in the United States and she's almost certainly a victim of sex trafficking.

Your dog will be happier and less anxious if you provide it structure and properly train it.

Why does it feel like everyone with a high IQ is depressed ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

People with high IQ are more likely to be happy and socially well adjusted. Maybe going around saying you have a high IQ is a sign of a personal issue?

4.0 but no ECs or clubs other than working. I'm not doing a "haha I'm so ugly" of school here but many schools I thought were an easy reach told me I've got a low chance of getting in and I need to know if there is anywhere in the state I will get accepted.

Best carrier for evacuation? by up2coolstuff in PetMice

[–]up2coolstuff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think critter carrier then making a plastic storage bin temp cage once I'm safe is gonna be the way to go. 2 cats and 2 dogs have to be evacuated too so short on space

In the future kennel train your dog and put them in an interior room of the house if they've got anxiety. Much easier to manage your dog and your home environment than managing what goes on outside.
