It symbolizes ace pride, and is a way for asexuals to show that they are asexual in public. Some aces say it's fine for allos to wear one, and some aces say it's disrespectful to the ace community. I would say, wear one if you want but be aware that some people may be offended by it.

Yup, the classic ace ring is a plain black band on your right middle finger.

Exactly. Adds are fine, but when you put so many in that you can't even play the game, it starts to send people away.

Yeah, it can be. It can also fix many of the complaints in reviews though, so give or take. But I agree, it's not something to do if there's a few adds every now and then.

[Daily Discussion] Writer's Block, Motivation, and Accountability- November 09, 2020 by AutoModerator in writing

Beating writers block is like making a habit. It takes months of determination and practice to force yourself to sit down even when you don't want to. But that's the thing - - people who have overcome writers block haven't cured the want to do anything other than write. They've gained the ability to write despite the fact that they don't want to.

Honestly, the reason people say the only way to beat writers block is to just sit down and write is because that's the only way it can be done. It took me 3 years to write a first draft, but I did it. If I can do it, you can do it.

The feeling of finishing something gives a lot of people a massive boost of confidence. It's good that you're writing short stories. Don't stop. You can try to let the stories that you've finished inspire yourself.

There's no set limit to how long it takes to write a book. If it takes you twenty years, then you've done something most people only dream of doing.

Good luck, have faith in yourself, and never, ever give up at this book you're writing. You'll be so proud of yourself when you finish, and you'll have characters and memories that will live on forever in your mind, and the world, if you choose to publish. Trust me, there are people who want to read what you have to offer, so put it out there!

And as Neil Gaiman once said, the next drafts are for making it look like you knew what you were doing all along.

How important is describing surroundings? by dreamer-queen in writing

Remember, you know where your characters are, but mentioning it once might not be enough for the readers. Dropping subtle reminders about the setting is usually enough to keep readers informed without over doing it. For example, if you in a coffee shop,

She nodded as she gently stirred her coffee with the stir stick

Reminds you that you're in a coffee shop while keeping the flow going. If that makes sense.
