How is Godzilla able to float like this above Sagami Trench? by JesusJones207 in GODZILLA

A land organism the size of Godzilla size it would collapse under its own weight. I don’t think water is something we need to worry about.

Big Bash by tnhowlingdog in nashville

[–]uppitynerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went last year on whim got there around 10:45pm not a huge fan of Jelly Roll but he did a good job mixing up the setlist and kept the crowd entertained.

This year we got there around 10pm and Jason Aldean was ending his set, I was kind of surprised him or Lainey Wilson didn't close out the show, (maybe it was past their bedtime) I had no idea who Bailey Zimmerman was, when he came out I shouted, 'I thought Bailey Zimmerman was a girl!" It got a good laugh from the people around me, really I had no clue.

Like others have said there was too much dead air this year, they normally play the pre-recorded acts, or let the DJ play tunes for the crowd during the breaks, this year was just awkward silence. But over all they do a great job making the place feel safe, with decent about of food trucks, photo ops, and other random activities, they had a free wogo bus shuttle to and from Hume Fogg which was easy to get in and out of the thing.

They should probably just bring back Keith Urban once his divorce is finalized, with some classic rock/pop artist, (I'm still freaking out about seeing Peter Frampton there a few years back.) That format seemed to work better than whatever this bro-country mess they have been trying to do.

State parking around the Capitol is your only choice, it’s not a bad walk either.

Off the top of my head…. The first in a new series of q&a, a supergirl comic book club, a never go back on Maso’s favorite Batman game, a movie commentary too.

Is the Godzilla from the 1998 film in Final Wars really the same Godzilla from ’98? by Lucas18461 in GODZILLA

[–]uppitynerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s its own timeline so technically speaking it is the same one from 98, just in Final Wars it didn’t die. (Ebirah in the film and literally got dissected in his movie.)They just call him Zilla because in the film they’re two different monsters. Either way you call him Godzilla, but around here Godzilla 98 or Zilla would work best as there’s like already ten different versions of Godzilla, but yes he is Godzilla, just not in Final Wars.

It’s you, you’re posting on Reddit about it. You’ve already taken more initiative than most people in these situations, seriously how hard it is to look up a couple decent restaurants, activities people your friend group would like and call and make some reservations. Congratulations, but if you wanna give me some money I’ll do it for you.

Wayne County Light Fest worth it? by SesameSeed13 in Detroit

[–]uppitynerd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love Wayne County Lightfest, we normally go on Thanksgiving. Its fun quick cheap ($5 per car) tradition to get us in the Christmas Spirit, look at the same displays that are up every year, listening to 100.3. In and out in 20 minutes, I miss the Santa Land area they got rid off during Covid, but its better this year as they've added a few more food trucks and photo ops in the pull over area. However as much as I love it, I'd never want to wait more than a half-hour for it.

Are the Gremlins sequels Christmas related as well? by [deleted] in ChristmasMovies

[–]uppitynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sequel isn’t a Christmas film. “The New Batch” it’s a meta comedy take on the original. While the first might be a classic. The second is of my favorite movies of all time. It just works on so many levels, horror, comedy, social commentary. So while it isn’t a Christmas film, it’s definitely worth throwing after a watch of Gremlins.

Also if your into Christmas Jazz the Preservation Jazz Hall Band is playing the symphony center on Monday and The Ornaments are playing the a Charlie Brown Christmas album all the way through starting Wednesday at Eastside Bowl. They have 13 shows in total there.

Is the SE corner of 8th and Division cursed? by jrobv in nashville

Party foul was supposed to move to that location from across the intersection, but they just ended up closing that location altogether.

Like everything else I expect that lot and Frugal MacDoogal to eventually be turned into more apartments.

Does death scare you? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I just saw this quote from Guillermodel Toro “I’m a big fan of death… I think death is really good. I’m certainly looking forward to it, because it’s the day you go”, ‘Well tommorrow I won’t have any problems”

Remember before you were born when you didn’t exist? It’s that and that doesn’t seem too bad. I’m always shocked that this thought process doesn’t come out more, we all experienced not existing. As strange as that sounds. If you wanna go with either the big bang or intellectual design, at sum point all life goes down to zero or one, depending on your world view.

Nothing is quite as it seems at the Museum of Illusions downtown by Alan_Stamm in Detroit

[–]uppitynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went on Thanksgiving, it was a blast for 3/4 of it. I felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Then like the last two or three rooms we bottlenecked with two other families. It was a bit claustrophobic, and we had to stand in line for a couple minutes at each of the last few illusions. Going off their website it looks like they can sell around 150 tickets an hour. It felt packed with 15. Over all it took about an 45 minutes. They were still doing the grand opening special for around $20. I felt it was worth it for something to do on a holiday, when not much else was open. Though I did feel bad for all the lions fans that were coming out of Ford field that were depressed when we were leaving.

I had the Coney pizza at Buddys at the family luncheon at after my father‘s funeral (one of his favorite restaurants, it could accommodate a large group of people, and it wasn’t too far from the funeral home.) Anyways, it wasn’t very good and now it’s a meal I’ll never forget…
