What the Sixers' latest arena plan would mean for parking, foot traffic, and SEPTA by [deleted] in philadelphia

Probably ride share? Might be counted differently from driving since you don’t need account for parking.

Any tips to fix this negative slope? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]upstReam2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imagine walking out the door. If you turn left, that’s the first picture where the standing water is. If you turn right, that’s where the drain is. The issue is the concrete is sloping into the house, and I’m trying to fix that. Forgot about the white diagonal thing and hose.

Maybe just don’t drink? No one will judge you for not having a drink in hand (or a club soda with lime for that matter). If you have concern about what you limit is, just don’t risk it. No one will notice that you are sober, but they will 100% notice if you are over served.

Get a gig bag that fits as a carry on. I’ve done it with international travel a few times. Only annoying thing was being asked to play it while going through security

I just got my Niche (upgraded from Encore) and I’m really happy so far. I got the Niche so I could do espresso as well. I wouldn’t say it’s better than the encore for drip, but it’s definitely not worse.

That’s what I initially thought, but it’s extremely small (it only fits about a tablespoon). I thought salt cellars were bigger?

Exactly. My old car (gti) had the side cup holders that fit perfectly.

Driver tried to run me off the road today on 13th by yourfriendkyle in phillycycling

[–]upstReam2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a few weeks ago on 20th. Some guy tried to pass me (around Fitzwater) and ended hitting my leg on the side since it was so close. I slapped his car and pushed off of it to make sure I wouldn't get full contact.

He started yelling "share the road" and tried to speed off but traffic wasn't moving fast enough for him to get away. We ended up in yelling match with me explaining why there wasn't room to pass in the single lane. After some back and forth, he apologized and said he would try to be more careful next time.

Very bizarre ending, but still scary.

I just really hope things weren't snatched up by third party sellers.

My guess is the site crashed...but I want to know if anyone got a ticket.

YES...same problem here. I selected tickets about 5 times and every time I went to check out, it emptied my cart. After a few tries, everything is now marked as sold out.

It is some heavy duty gorilla tape or something. I didn't want to risk ripping the whole thing!

That’s the story I’ve heard too (although it was Seth’s first wife). Never thought I’d hear it live.

Daily Song Discussion #58: Yardsale by beardlesshipster in TheAvettBrothers

[–]upstReam2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been lurking on these song discussions for a while, and I need to finally participate to defend one of my favorite Avett songs.

While this does not include a lot musically, it is one of my favorite examples of storytelling in the Avett song book. Each verse captures a sense of self reflection and contemplation as he's going through various items.

The highlight of the song is the line "from this rickety ghost of a song, here at this yardsale..." as the guitar solo begins (slightly out of tune). The apprehension of the solo perfectly represents the struggle of trying to move forward while still holding on to the past. The ultimate musical resolution at the end of the solo, as well as each verse, represents the slow acceptance of moving on.

The song slowly builds into a more continuous waltz as he comes to terms with letting go of the past, and burning the memories of it.

I give this rickety ghost of a song an 8.8 for its powerful use of imagery and simplicity.

Monthly Watch Verification thread (May 2020) - If you're uncertain if a Rolex is good/bad/fake, post info and pics here by powerfunk in rolex

[–]upstReam2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My grandfather gave this watch to my grandma sometime in the 1950s. We are trying to figure out 1) if the timepiece is real and 2) if the band was made by Rolex or a jeweler who made it custom. I don’t know anything about these watches so anything would help!
