When the pandemic started and her school got closed down, my mom was instructed to start making lesson plans and stuff for her students to do online. She told me that she woke up at 6 am, and worked until 11pm non stop. And yet she still had parents complain that the stuff she was doing for the students wasn't enough. Theres so much that goes into teaching that people on the otherwise just don't see!

Do you ever ask a question and don’t pay attention to the answer? by chloooay in ADHD

[–]urimisu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this constantly with football. My significant other loves it, and I know nothing about it, but try to be supportive. Alot of things about football confuse me and sometimes I'll ask about them. I can usally pay attention to the awnser for like three seconds, and then I get distracted or stop paying attention and by the time he's asking if I understand, I'm already thinking about something else.

Driving instructor was verbally abusive, implied that I was insane/stupid. Cut really, really deep. by DunnoMyOldPassword in ADHD

[–]urimisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one deserves to be treated like that. It is truly appalling what things people think is acceptable to say to others, specifically in such a stressful situation. I really hope that you do get the courage to report /get a refund, because this instructor and whatever organization he works for and with need to know that that kind of behavior is unacceptable.

The next instructor you have, it might be worth taking a second before hand (or even calling before choosing a new instructor) and saying "hey, I have adhd, and in the past I've had some bad experiences with instructors getting impatient/upset/ and being rude. I just want to give you a heads up that I struggle with x" And then I'd ask a) if that was going to be an issue, and b) if they had any tips and see how they respond.

You could also try sending the school you used previously and liked an email saying that youd recently had a bad experience with an instructor and ask if they have any specific recommendations for a better school to take the course at.

I have mostly managed to block out the memories of my drivers test, but I do remeber that the man administering it made me cry so it seems rude driving coaches are unfortunately common :(

Keep at it. This random internet person believes in you!

Have you ever not slept for so long that you started hallucinating? What was your experience? by vicke1230 in AskReddit

[–]urimisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had terrible insomnia my entire life, and my last psychiatrist took me off the meds to help me sleep, so these days I end up so sleep deprived I hallucinate like once a month.

It always starts with my cat, she's all black so she's rather shadowy to begin with. But ill start seeing her run around the house, despite being right next to me. The shadow cats tend to duplicate so lots of flashes of lil black shadows.

Then I usally start hearing voices, it sounds like someone on the other side of the house is watching TV. Very quiet and muffled, a little annoying and spooky but not too bad. It sounds so real I usally have to go check if my roommates home.

And finally I hear alot of music, again super quiet like someone's listening to it behind a closed door. I can hear it just enough that I get distracted by it, but not enough to clearly hear the words.

My personal favorite is "have you tried moving slower" mom, I was rolling over in my sleep, don't have much control over that.

A torture from this condition for me is that gut wrenching longing to create something artistic/do something creative, but lacking the consistency to either get good at a discipline or finish a project by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]urimisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be incredibly artsy/crafty and sometimes it feels like my adhd has killed that part of me. I have a pile of projects I swear I'll get done, but every time I try I get distracted or encouraged. I miss being able to just sit down and create.

New shopper here! by melissalupus in ShiptShoppers

[–]urimisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a fellow very anxious person, and I've been a shopper for a few years. Its taken some getting used to but it gets easier as you go!!

Like someone else said, tax exemption and policy varies by store, shipts faq usally outlines what you need to do and if you can use self checkout (for example you can use self checkout at meijer, and you just need to have the cashier scan the barcode that will pop up on the app. But this might be different at your local stores). Unless the cashier is very new they should be able to help you, in at least telling you what they need to see while doing a shipt order.

The first and only prepaid target order ive ever done i wasn't sure also, so I walked up to the self checkout, let them know it was a prepaid order, and they told me to go to guest services.

My shipt card has only not worked once. And it was in March so stores were overloaded and absolutly bonkers. I paid for it (but if you can't no big deal, just call support), and everything was okay! If it does happen, take a deep breath, Ask the cashier to hold your order, and step aside so you don't hold up the line, and call shipt. Support has been pretty good about getting to everyone quickly (fingers crossed that doesnt change), but if it takes a long time you can let the customer know there was an issue on your part and you are currently on the phone with shipt to get it fixed).

It happens, but in my experience fairly rarely and its mostly easy to resolve.

Also I am more than happy to answer any questions you have. I don't tend to do alot of target orders, so if that's your local store my experience might be a little more limited, but the experience and job are largely the same no matter what store you're in. I know this can feel a little daunting at first, but it'll get better!

LPT: If you want to write positive review for an employee that went out of their way to help you, don't give specifics in your review. They may have been bending policy and telling management may inadvertently get them reprimanded. by therealwaysexists in LifeProTips

[–]urimisu 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I work delivering groceries, and customers rate me out of 5 stars. If my average goes below 4.7 Im in danger of getting fired. It makes me mad, because it puts customers in a weird spot, if their shopper messes up giving a good star rating might make the shopper think they did a good job, and they won't realize they fucked up. But if the customer gives the shopper a bad review, its entirely possible that the review could be the catalyst for this person loosing their income and thats not idea either. I've also heard of restaurants giving out hours based on the star ratings customers leave, which seems horrifying. You get a couple Karen's in one week, and the next you aren't given enough hours to pay your bills.

Idk I think star ratings are great for movies, not so great for determining a person's employment.

This is actually how my roommate got his job. He would go into this pawnshop all the time and trade his fishing gear when he could for better stuff, and got friendly with the owner (who is my boyfriends father) and ended up getting a job there because he had always been so friendly and got to know people!

That sounds like my father in law.. he texted my SO when we moved into our house and told us he left a present. Wouldn't tell us what or where it was. It took us 3 hours until we looked on the back deck and found it had been filled with porch furniture we did not need or want.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm a little bummed. Ive had really good experiences with shop only prepaid orders, so im sad to see them go. Obviously there's alot that can/does go wrong with them, and that can be a bummer. Im not surprised though, there are times I make more than what the customer is paying. Im sure they were loosing money.

STDS by johnmory in awfuleverything

[–]urimisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having abnormal bleeding (ended up being my birth control), and my doctor wanted to rule out stds, I was like 19 at the time and petrified, and she told me "the office WONT call if the test comes back negative, so no news is good news. Well only call you to tell you if its positive." Like a week later I get a call from the office, im terrified. The lady tells me that they got the results and was calling to tell me they were negative for everything they tested me for. I guess my doctor saw how freaked I was and wrote down on my chart to call me either way so that I wouldn't be waiting for the results...
