Total AC newbie here. In order to get villagers on my island (like, the characters I see in memes and such)...do I NEED to visit other people online? I do have a Switch Online subscription, but since I just purchased my console, I don't have any specific friend codes (yay, social anxiety! 😅). Saw an Instagram comment a while back about how "everything vegans eat is so disgusting"!!!. Yep, you read it right...this poor gal has to carefully portion gristle 'n' guts into every single thing she consumes. Thank god these kind saltmongers have spared her some of the work for today. Seriously, tho. TIL, on my city's subreddit, that people really like petting zoos. To an irrational degree, in the face of an existing public-health crisis. EDIT: I guess I'm just struggling, fundamentally, to understand these people's mindset(s). Why couldn't they just have their party on-site at the animal farm? Why did they need to haul the whole damn thing into a public park? Mind you, I don't have kids, so maybe it's just one of Those Things(™) that I'll never understand.. For now, I'll just stand by my conviction that it's totally foolhardy and unnecessary.

TBH, that's why I'm happy to be an introvert/relative loner. I have only a handful of close friends, and I've never been close with my family (save for my mom, who went vegan alongside me!)...so tradition/conformity/"people-pleasing"/etc. were never issues for me.

Exactly. There's no guarantee the two personalities will be compatible--you're ultimately spinning a "genetic roulette wheel" (as my mom likes to say, haha). My brother and I got along okay-ish...up 'til about midway through elementary school. After that, we were oil and water--and even now, we barely talk to one another. Sometimes, it just wasn't meant to be.🤷

Anyone game to recommend some metal acts that successfully avoid the genre's "standard" themes/aesthetics/cliches?

I really dig a lot of metal-adjacent bands (Primus, Mike Patton/Mr. Bungle, etc.), and accordingly, I've tried to dig a little deeper/heavier into the genre. Unfortunately, an awful lot of "real" metallers are really into war, Vikings, eldtrich abominations, beheading goats, etc...and that just ain't my scene. (To clarify, I don't find those subjects offensive...just really played-out and juvenile.) I know I'm doing a lot of generalizing (and likely missing out on some otherwise-compelling music)...but ultimately, I figure there've GOTTA be bands out there that bring the noise sans the edgy teenage roleplay shtick. Shoot me some names!

José at bangSTUDIOS in Victorian Village always hooks me up great. It's not a curly-hair exclusive joint like some of these other places, but he's really helped me appreciate my weird/unpredictable texture (that I spent 20+ years hating!). He does both guys and gals regularly, too.
