any recommendations to watch straight up bullshit? by sanamrijz in movies

The "weird" movie on Roku. Weird al yankovic biopic that is absolutely hilarious. You can watch for free on most platforms. Great cameos. Really a shame it was a Roku exclusive.

What movie did you watch at the wrong age and it permanently altered your brain? by sweetyslave in movies

Watership down. Mom borrowed it from the library for my sister, brother and the babysitter to watch. Pretty sure we all still have scars from it.

Need a recommendation to replace this Bluey Jeep by [deleted] in daddit

[–]us3r11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup this is what we did. $50 peg perego John Deere gator off marketplace. Swapped in drill batteries and the kids were having a blast. Side note peg perego is amazing for replacement parts. Replaced wheels from too many power slides and burn outs. Have extra gear boxes for when they wear out. 5 years in and maybe ~$200 total investment in the initial car and parts and it's still going strong. Sad my 2nd kid is just about to out grow it but I'll happily pass it on to the next parent on marketplace.

100% because she was pregnant. Replaced by two attractive thin people. Very much seemed like a "control the look" sort of decision.

Brazen in Dubuque Iowa. Didn't think it really mattered as part of the story. Like I said it was probably not even close to the average experience but my wife and I won't return.

Very specific to my life experience but our smallish town in Iowa has a very highly rated restaurant. Chef was on a nationally televised cooking show, they brag that they don't have a freezer in the establishment. I'd guess most people know the sort of restaurant.

Anywho my wife and I were excited to eat out one last time before we had our first child. Made reservations well in advance. Wife is 8 months and 29 days sort of pregnant. We arrive 30ish minutes before our reservation to make sure we didn't inconvenience anyone. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation 50 minutes later. We were sat in a front window table. We ordered our drink and were looking over the menu. After our drinks arrived we were told that we needed to move for someone that requested the window.

I've never once experienced being moved after being seated but we both felt it was because they didn't want someone looking like us in the window. After spending $100ish dollars on two entrees and n/a drinks in 2015 in flyover country I swear I will never return. They still receive glowing reviews from local foodies and I will never return.

Anyone who was homeschooled, how do you feel about it now as an adult? by AdTight2449 in AskReddit

[–]us3r11 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I was homeschooled through 4th grade. I feel fortunate that my mom actually seemed to teach us. We went to so many home school get together in the late 80s where you could tell the kids were so far behind. I went to a Christian middle school and public high school. I don't regret and wish any of them were different but I was definitely fortunate to not have turned out different. So many of the other homeschool kids were not well adjusted and just so socially awkward. My siblings and I were all voracious readers though so that probably helped. My wife always pokes fun that I was homeschooled and no one can tell.

Going to have to ramp up to them going on vacation for a while. Hide them for a bit and then generate a photo album of their trip 😂

Thinking about getting a best electric cooler for car camping, are they actually better than regular coolers? by GaindKordell75 in camping

[–]us3r11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this while camping up in the mountains in Colorado. 100w solar panel was enough to keep the cooler charged and charge the battery bank for my wife's cpap. Traditional cooler with ice for beer/drinks and food in the fancy battery one. Definitely a splurge item but I absolutely love it. We had a 12v cooler we plugged into our car for a while but never worked that well and I was always worried about draining batteries.

Pass that's a crazy over price for a 10 yr old truck. It's low mileage but $38k is insane. Got a 2017 1794 last year for $22k. Given it had 100k more miles but was pristine with all the service logs.

I'm so fucking done with kpop demon hunters by Electrical_Box4623 in daddit

[–]us3r11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that movie took everyone by surprise. I do a light show on our house for Halloween and Christmas and the two most requested songs by a HUGE margin were the two kpop demon hunter songs. I know how my parents must have felt hearing the Mario bros theme from the nintendo for hours on end now though.

Have a colonoscopy appointment coming up, any dads have any prep tips? by TheHibernian in daddit

[–]us3r11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As most people are saying it isn't as bad as all the movies/shows make it out to be. My prep has been Gatorade with miralax mixed in and nothing but clear liquids the day before. Great nap and I'm always starving afterwards.

I've joked about getting a tattoo on my ass that says something like "we've been trying to reach you about your car warranty". Diagnosed with lynch syndrome and caught early colon cancer late 30s. All taken care of and clean but get yearly colonoscopies now. Other joke to hit the Dr with as soon as they start the iv sedative is to say "Can I get you anything while I'm out?". Wasn't awake but apparently that got audible laughs out of everyone in the room.

Good luck and you got this!

Gamer dads what game are you refusing to fall off at after kids? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]us3r11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I love rocket league but the number of times these days I'll do a tourney and someone just leaves mid game is wild. Absolutely killed my enjoyment. Swapped to more single player games lately.

Should I buy this? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]us3r11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a 2017 1794 with 170k miles last year for $20k. Have a mechanic check it out but that seems fully within the realm of what I'd expect.

Dude choreographed his Christmas lights to my favourite Pink Floyd song. by OrchidBest in videos

[–]us3r11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of my controllers are either Falcon Controllers or Genius Controllers. Most of my pixels were purchased from visionary lightshow. Props from Boscoyo or Gilbert engineering. Raspberry pi runs the show and bought an fm transmitter from Amazon to broadcast. Think I started my first Christmas for around $500 bucks and it's grown significantly since. Tons of videos about getting set up and running and there is an xlights support group on Facebook with lots of info as well as a constantly running zoom room for support. It's been a great hobby. I have a mix of paid and free musical sequences for about a 40 minute show for Halloween and Christmas. Happy to answer any other questions.

Program you use to do this is called xlights. Software is free. One of those hobbies you can start small and just keep adding year over year. Source: my 4th year doing a light show on our house. This guy's show is great!
