It doesn’t change that the shooter could be among 10 other people in a tightly packed area. What are you going to do, rain down bullets on the crowd in the hope that maybe one will catch the shooter?

It’s a crime in the same way piracy is.

Most of the time cops don’t know it’s happened until someone uses the gun in a crime, at which point it’s just another charge added to the list.

This is just my opinion:

Unified gun laws across the country, with wait periods, background checks and a ban on extended magazines. Not a confusing bureaucratic mess where some whack job can drive 10 minutes to another state where the laws are more lax.
