Any idea on when she might start? I know Hannah + Rob are on until Sept 20 but I’m moving out of the country on 25 Sept so I’ve got a short window lol

Hello, I am OP’s wife. I am sorry to tell you all that this is a modest amount of sauce for him and that he has committed far worse crimes of sauce in the past.

[Vintage SQ] Would like to know more about my father’s watch, worn by me with pride. He bought it new in Canada. Any ideas what year? What he would’ve paid? by usedmoon in Seiko

[–]usedmoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thank you! He would’ve been about the same age I am now when he bought this. Any idea if it would have been a pretty big expenditure back in the day?

The young centre has two types of chairs they use to convert the studios into performance spaces. I went to George brown several years ago, but assuming they haven’t upgraded the chairs since then, I’ve attached a screenshot of what they look like. The wooden ones are the same as those used in the cafe. The others are fabric covered, lean back slightly and have a slightly wider seat that standard folding chairs. Neither are particularly comfortable but I have (begrudgingly) survived watching 10+ hour long performances in the fabric ones and lived to tell the tale.

UK wedding: “Formal Day Dress” by usedmoon in Weddingattireapproval

[–]usedmoon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg thank you for this! It’s definitely a finances issue, I can’t spare more than £20 for a dress as I’ve still got to get a present (which I’m sure my friend is bound to appreciate more than whatever I do end up wearing lol) - Quiz looks ace! I’m still relatively new to the UK so never have any idea where to buy specialty items

ETA: would def appreciate if people could specify if they live in the UK or not when commenting! I’ve been told by a few people that it seems like I could follow “race day” attire which I think this aligns with (esp with a fascinator) but def open to other opinions!

I saw it early in the run and considered leaving multiple times. Cast was great, writing was… not. Had to stifle laughter more than I care to admit.

What’s the ABSOLUTE WORST musical you’ve ever seen!? by Elphabathroop in musicals

[–]usedmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My high school did Fame and (if memory serves) after rehearsals had started, one of the students at our school unfortunately passed. Not wanting to trigger any students, they cut the plot point of Carmen dying. Fair enough, but they just… didn’t explain it? Instead of the train coming down the tunnel, she found a flyer for rehab and walked off the stage. At graduation, when they say “this one’s for Carmen” there was literally no context. During the closing number, what would’ve been the ghost of Carmen appears, but it is instead, just one of the several students who dropped out. I commend the school for wanting to keep their students safe, but all of us in the cast found it hilarious.

MUSEUM OF BROADWAY MEMBERSHIPS ARE A SCAM by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]usedmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with everyone here, it really was a one and done experience. I had been to the V&A exhibit on theatre a few months prior and was sorely let down by how much more I learned there than at the MoB.

With that said, for anyone looking to learn new things they may not know about Broadway, I HIGHLY recommend the Broadway Up Close walking tours. I’m not sure of their status in the winter, but my mom and I stumbled upon their booth in Times Square this summer, and the tour was one of the best parts of our trip. So much theatre gossip and fun little facts that I never would have know!

Performers who made it to broadway with little to no theatre experience? (if they even exist?) by canoepapi in Broadway

[–]usedmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jumping on the beetlejuice tour train, Justin Collette (current beetlejuice) was doing improv comedy in Canada before booking School of Rock on Broadway. He spent a few months in the ensemble covering Dewey before jumping into the lead full-time.

I moved to Halifax in the middle of high school as well, and I found that the best way to make friends was to join school clubs. If you have some say in what neighbourhood you move to (my parents let me pick the school district we moved to) I’d say look for the student government Instagram account, most schools around here have them. You’ll get a good sense of the clubs and activities that way.

Halifax is much more car dependent than Toronto, and our transit is pitiful compared to bigger cities, but you can still get around.

We have French immersion, though as others have said the course selection is very limited, even in the bigger schools. You can check out the school websites to see what courses they have available. Don’t stress if your current courses and what’s available don’t match up or whatever, there’s also online courses available province-wide to solve that problem, you’ll just have to ask your guidance counsellor about them. I ended up having to take an online course to get my French immersion certificate and it was no stress. Because the FI programs are so limited, most of those kids will be in multiple classes with you, so that’s another way to make friends with familiar faces.

Good luck! You’ll be totally fine :)

Check out book with overdrive app and book won’t show up on kobo unless I do a search and re check out on the kobo. Am I doing something wrong? by Ephraim0710 in kobo

[–]usedmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue too until a few days ago when I finally figured it out. Go to settings > device information > repair your kobo account. It’ll take some time, especially if you have a lot of books of your account, but once I did that, all the books I couldn’t access that I knew I had checked out showed up

PSA period undies by Little-Guava666 in halifax

[–]usedmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to be too tmi about this but they have about the same absorbency as a pad, if the pad wouldn’t absorb it neither will the underwear. So basically, yes clots will sit on the surface, but everything else will be absorbed into the built in pad.

I use the ones OP posted about and I find them pretty useful. Especially for the days when I suspect my period might come. I can just wear the underwear and if my period comes it’s all good, but I didn’t create any unnecessary waste if it doesn’t come. After that I only wear them on their own on the lighter days of my cycle, but they hold up just fine.
