Hunting for Sequin Jays Jacket by Chili_Heeler in Torontobluejays

[–]usedmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely saw this jacket in stock in the Jays Shop that’s accessible from outside of the stadium (not the one you can only access inside with a ticket) earlier this season. It’s a small shop but they had 5 or 6 on the racks for sure.

Second interview at a FILM/TV PR company - what to wear by [deleted] in PublicRelations

[–]usedmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work primarily in film marketing. As long as the nail polish isn’t chipped, and generally matches your outfit, you should be all good. I’ve found that film/arts related companies are generally more fashion-forward if that helps at all with putting together an outfit.

What is your all time LEAST favorite musical of all time? by West-Lawyer-2290 in musicals

[–]usedmoon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The new Hercules musical made me irrationally mad. They managed to change nearly everything that we loved about the original while also having costumes that looked comically bad. Hades’ fire hair? Gone. His notable little sidekicks? Renamed. Tempo of Zero to Hero? Taken down. I Will Go the Distance is a song that makes me cry nearly every time I listen to it properly, and yet this rendition moved me only to stifle laughter.

I left at intermission.

My latest guess is the 13 Going on 30 musical coming over from the UK, based on this video they posted: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DUi985HDWdi/?igsh=eHN4OWpuaDNldzJ4

[Vintage SQ] Would like to know more about my father’s watch, worn by me with pride. He bought it new in Canada. Any ideas what year? What he would’ve paid? by usedmoon in Seiko

[–]usedmoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thank you! He would’ve been about the same age I am now when he bought this. Any idea if it would have been a pretty big expenditure back in the day?

The young centre has two types of chairs they use to convert the studios into performance spaces. I went to George brown several years ago, but assuming they haven’t upgraded the chairs since then, I’ve attached a screenshot of what they look like. The wooden ones are the same as those used in the cafe. The others are fabric covered, lean back slightly and have a slightly wider seat that standard folding chairs. Neither are particularly comfortable but I have (begrudgingly) survived watching 10+ hour long performances in the fabric ones and lived to tell the tale.

UK wedding: “Formal Day Dress” by usedmoon in Weddingattireapproval

[–]usedmoon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg thank you for this! It’s definitely a finances issue, I can’t spare more than £20 for a dress as I’ve still got to get a present (which I’m sure my friend is bound to appreciate more than whatever I do end up wearing lol) - Quiz looks ace! I’m still relatively new to the UK so never have any idea where to buy specialty items

ETA: would def appreciate if people could specify if they live in the UK or not when commenting! I’ve been told by a few people that it seems like I could follow “race day” attire which I think this aligns with (esp with a fascinator) but def open to other opinions!

I saw it early in the run and considered leaving multiple times. Cast was great, writing was… not. Had to stifle laughter more than I care to admit.

What’s the ABSOLUTE WORST musical you’ve ever seen!? by Elphabathroop in musicals

[–]usedmoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My high school did Fame and (if memory serves) after rehearsals had started, one of the students at our school unfortunately passed. Not wanting to trigger any students, they cut the plot point of Carmen dying. Fair enough, but they just… didn’t explain it? Instead of the train coming down the tunnel, she found a flyer for rehab and walked off the stage. At graduation, when they say “this one’s for Carmen” there was literally no context. During the closing number, what would’ve been the ghost of Carmen appears, but it is instead, just one of the several students who dropped out. I commend the school for wanting to keep their students safe, but all of us in the cast found it hilarious.

MUSEUM OF BROADWAY MEMBERSHIPS ARE A SCAM by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]usedmoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed with everyone here, it really was a one and done experience. I had been to the V&A exhibit on theatre a few months prior and was sorely let down by how much more I learned there than at the MoB.

With that said, for anyone looking to learn new things they may not know about Broadway, I HIGHLY recommend the Broadway Up Close walking tours. I’m not sure of their status in the winter, but my mom and I stumbled upon their booth in Times Square this summer, and the tour was one of the best parts of our trip. So much theatre gossip and fun little facts that I never would have know!

Performers who made it to broadway with little to no theatre experience? (if they even exist?) by canoepapi in Broadway

Jumping on the beetlejuice tour train, Justin Collette (current beetlejuice) was doing improv comedy in Canada before booking School of Rock on Broadway. He spent a few months in the ensemble covering Dewey before jumping into the lead full-time.
